if it looked like taylor swift i wouldn't have been so tight with my money

  2. if it runs when given fuel then it just sounds like a tuning issue to me, easy fix
  3. anyone know why a brushed motor would 'tick' Brushes are good, bearings are good and theres nothing inside the motor, one run old

    1. Oh How Original

yeah ive had it stripped, it runs fine just very noisy :(

  4. They're both solid trucks Slot mags are about as retro as it gets! I've never seen the gearhead wheels I'll check them out
  5. they're an utter nightmare but look good i think i'll order some SSD's, i also want a set of PitBulls to wrap them in but getting them over here is tough
  6. yeah the reason i went for this was to try something other than an SCX, i'm pleased i did really. In my opinion its a much nicer and more capable kit out of the box, i'm sure there'll be someone along in a bit to tell me otherwise though Payday is friday and i want some shiny bits for the Ascender, i'm thinking wheels but i'm not sure which, i have my heart set on either SSD beadlocks in silver/black or white RC4WD steelies. I think the steelies might tie in better with the retro-ish theme of the body but the SSD's are new and look awesome, hard choice
  7. Yeah the shocks have been fine, no complaints I built mine with green slime and theres not even a hint of any leaking and i've never heard of any others leaking so they must hold up fine too.
  8. the diff covers finally gave up and turned black, looks much better
  9. i've always just stretched shock o rings on
  10. yeah there's definitely a gap in the market there, i always used the Hitec servos but the torque was dire even for a light trail truck.
  11. those servos are spot on, i was really impressed with mine especially for the low price, looks nice too
  12. Its neat stuff from Makro, it has all sorts of warning signs on the bottle so i assume its strong stuff, doesn't seem like it! i think i may have to try the caustic soda, i'd rather get all the plating off than have to paint them
  13. still trying to de-chrome the diff covers, so far they've been sitting in bleach overnight, covered in Mr Muscle oven cleaner for hours and are now back in the bleach, seems like its removed the high spots but the larger parts are stubborn i dont know what else to try
  14. Its also wired to my ESC battery plug for the power, you can add a Y adaptor or a separate battery for a less permanent power supply though
  15. I know I was just seeing what it would pull It runs off my 3rd channel with the radio set to suit, I use the trims as my 3rd channel is just a on/off button rather than a 3 way switch. It also has a control board with a button to control it.
  16. its Asdas finest, i have no idea about bleach
  17. winch is wired up and working! The bumper is actually quite strong, it'll pull before the bumper flexes so it should be alright for the time being. Diff covers are still soaking in bleach, they're about 70% black now, i thought it wouldn't take as long but i'm in no hurry https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LzIjE_WgYC4
  18. ooo i'll check the scalerfab stuff out when its ready started on the diff covers tonight logo filed off # and now they're sitting in a pot of bleach to get rid of the chrome and tomorrow they shall be black!
  19. I'm after the 2 speed gearbox from a twin hammers, must be in good working condition inside and out I also need the shift servo but that isn't a big deal thanks
  20. its just a major faff on and i can't be bothered! I need a winch bumper and no one currently makes one. The plastic bumper seems strong enough but i can only get 2 bolts into the winch because of the bumper shape. I think i may have a go at making one, how hard can it be
  21. I might have a go at stripping the diff covers tomorrow and painting them, i wanted to do the wheels but they will be changed soon anyway! i has a winch now, i also have lights but i think i'll take them back out, i got sick of having to connect/disconnect them every time the shell comes off and i hate having wires everywhere
  22. i believe so, there's a guy building on another forum
  23. First run went very well, i'm surprised what it is capable of out of the box, certainly went places my other trucks didnt! my light kit and winch arrived today so i'll be fitting those in the next few days
  24. The Merc is my favourite! It's an absolute tank and too long to fit in the garage I agree about the Puma, its mega! I've basically lived in it for the last 2 days
  25. i do but they need to have a 50% off sale before i consider them! Painting the standard ones is a much cheaper approach
