  1. Thanks. It was excellent. I've been out of large scale for a couple of years, it's not that popular down my way, but plan on getting my cars running over the next couple of months, but only do bashing really. The track was flat on the first event and that was it really, the cars just carved out a road. Some pretty exciting air shots I'd forgotten how awesome they are, and in the hands of professional drivers, they just fly. Pete
  2. These are mine - not a pro, just a spectator. There are several hundred more, but this is just a selection! Feel free to pass the link around to anyone. https://plus.google.com/photos/109450121064829058818/albums/5845997194281510865?authkey=COHz1YGQzrLk6wE Pete
  3. Finally got round to doing something about this - couldn't find any air leaks or anything, apart from the play in the throttle arm as it went through the carb. Picked up a carb on ebay and the difference between my old one and this one is incredible - everything is tight, no play, the return spring has tension in it too! Fitted it, started first time and idles - no spinning gears! Can't run the car yet as its in bits sorting the brake out, but looks like carb had had it. Pete
  4. Thanks, I'll check a few things out. I did remove the carb a while back, didn't use a new gasket and didn't use any sealant either, so wonder if it's that. Also, with the play around the throttle shaft in the carb, I could be getting an air leak there. Thanks.
  5. Hi everyone, wonder if anyone can suggest anything with a problem I'm having. I can't get the idle speed of my engine down so that it won't roll along without having the brake on. I've adjusted the LS needle, which slows it nicely, but then it won't accelerate and stalls, if I set it back to quick acceleration and normall running, it's idling so fast that it rolls along without the brake on. What kind of problem would cause this? The throttle arm on the carb does have some play in it, and I wonder if there's some air getting in from somewhere? I just need a couple of pointers on where to start. Pete
  6. I just use the tornado stuff too - same as on my nitro. Some guys I know use motorcycle specific oil that comes in a spray can, but the tornado stuff works for me and for some reason I seem to have several bottles and don't remember buying it! Not sure if there's a difference between car and off-road oils - off-road tends to pick up more dust than a car....dunno Pete
  7. Also, try a new plug - my leopard does that and more often than I'd like a plug sorts it... Pete
  8. Funny you should say that.....finally got some time to sit down and have a closer look - there wasn't a bright blue spark, but you could feel it, put a new plug in....and now it starts..... Thanks for all the tips everyone..... Pete
  9. My leopard won't start :-( It was find Sunday morning, but I did stray off the track through some reasonably deep water a few times - after the 3rd time, I noticed that it was having trouble revving to full throttle, but it was still running. The electrics are fine, they didn't get too damp. I took it out at lunchtime, it started 2nd pull, ticked over quite nicely, but still felt like it was struggling to reach full throttle, then stopped....now it won't start! I've got a spark from the plug (felt that) - the plug is damp, so there is fuel getting in, air filter is clean and dry as I popped a new one on. I havent' taken anything more apart yet, as I had to go back to work, but I wondered if anyone had any suggestions. Pete
  10. What make would you use - I've got some tornado I use on my nitro and I've been using that up to now, but bought a couple of extra filters and need some more oil, so thought I'd ask..
  11. Ok, thanks for the info... Pete
  12. Dumb question... I've got some K&N filter oil in a spray can from when I had a K&N like filter....can anyone see any problem with using that oil on a standard FG foam filter? Pete
  13. I didn't think it would take them that long, but having never even seen inside a nitro engine before, it was worth it this time. I finally got some time to start it in between the rain..and after resetting to factory settings it works! Idle's reasonably well but have to adjust the trim on the transmitter a tiny bit to keep it running nicely. I did a couple of slow runs around the garden, I get smoke from the exhaust (but not when idling) and the revs drop when the throttle starts to open, then picks up which shows one of my needles is too lean. I guess I'm ok to carry on with the break in process and run a few tanks of fuel through it. Now...if it would stop raining.... Pete
  14. Mine was 44pds, and I paid my lhs a tenner to fit it, as I wasn't sure what I was doing....I'd do it myself next time probably. Pete
  15. Mine got really tight to turn over especially heading towards the top of the stroke - it also kept stopping. I took it to my lhs, as I've not seen inside a nitro engine before, they took it apart and did the diagnosis whilst I was there..it was obvious mine had overheated as lots of burnt oil on the piston. Other than the symptoms I've had, I'm not sure. Pete
