  1. Finally got round to hooking up the Futaba T8J to the Phantom (Was stretching the range a bit at 400m with the stock set up) Had a wee range check today of the T8J and was still getting good signal at over 1km distance .... Well happy
  2. Wee update , I set the toggle switch from GPS/ATTI /Failsafe to GPS/ATTI /ATTI via the Nazza assistant ..... Bingo .... Manual compass calibration (solid yellow) now available
  3. Seen it mate , cheers. Calibration numbers all good on Nazza assistant . No errors showing so calibration not actually required Toggling GPS /Atti switch though just doesn't seam to put phantom into compass calibration mode ......????
  4. I finally got round to upgrading latest firmware (3.12) for the phantom. All went ok. Calibrated IMU , test flight ok. IOC mode and failsafe switch all worked as it should. I never managed to re calibrate the compass though. The range was in spec so wasn't too bothered I've since tried again (and failed) as I want to upgrade my transmitter and wanted to check i can get all the functions first. Switching GPS / Atti switch back and forth doesn't seam to do out ....... Is there something I'm missing , is compass calibration different with the new firmware ??? If anyone could help , would be most grateful Cheers in advance
  5. New transmitter arrived today , hopefully will get it hooked up to the Phantom soon ........ And hopefully without any glitches Should be a tad better for range
  6. Ahh nice one, Good man Hebby, will give it a try
  7. [quote here you go S40bul, i adjusted link to direct play . yep handy is that rth, i did notice your on the hill top nearly and the craft was getting below the surface horizon.
  8. It was an OFM seeker 450 . Didn't twig it was someone else until the guy pulled up beside me and showed me his quad . Just thought it was the go pro going bonkers at 1st ! Had a good wee chat , turns out he's local I've tried other channels with the fatsharks but can only get a picturel on channel 1 , is there something I need to do with the video transmitter to set a channel ?? Any help would be appreciated , cheers
  9. Was out with the phantom FPV'n ...... Practicing some low level flying round a few trees when the goggles started to flicker back and forth to where I'd been flying 5 min earlier in a totally different area Thought the go pro was throwing a wobbly .....Turns out it was someone else out with their fatsharks ..... Whits the chances ! !
  10. Well ...... Had the phantom failsafe kick in yesterday. Was FPV'n along a cliff edge when I must have dropped below line of sight behind a tree. Lost video link and Tx control ... Wooops ! http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=rsEZDzH56D4 The phantom stopped in its tracks , flew vertical then started its return to home ...... Where I regained control before it landed What a bit of kit !
  11. Ahh nice Tamiya, got you now. Cheers Take it the OSD has a signal strength showing so you can turn to keep the patch antenna pointing in right direction
  12. It all gets a bit 'James Bond like' Tamiya .... I take it the cloverleaf / patch antenna set up is for flying the thing and not for the video link ?? Got a couple of spironet antennas for the video tx / rx which made a huge difference
  13. Nice , was thinking of upgrading Tx /Rx to futaba. I've watched a couple of YouTube vids which makes the task look a bit less daunting ....... What you running with ?? Planning an OSD when back in stock , then can keep a closer eye on the battery level ect. Never really pushed it by the 8 minute mark
  14. Been pushing the range a bit on the phantom lately (FPV) , seem to be getting well over the recomended 300m mark ok on stock set up http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=7CZytDzD6AA http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=FK2yVaXsK7o
  15. Nice new shiny shell Rich , I'd fibreglass / shoo goo inside the nose of it , they're prone to cracking across the weakest point
  16. Any pics bud ,you using stock battery ? Not much length on balance lead
  17. This is the balance plug connector which is tight to fit in the phantom , think I'll need to make an extension cable and fire it outside somewhere
  18. Defo , had right sweaty palms 1st time out ! Not easy to judge your height at first but kinda getting the hang of it Made a school boy error mind you ....Go pro wasn't switched on to record for one of the flights and it powered down after timing out mid flight Aaaahhh ... Luckily not too far from home so could lift the goggles and bring it in
  19. Cheers bud , almost right on the back doorstep , less than a minutes drive ..... Nice and handy
  20. Fat shark goggles came in today Hooked up and went for 1st flight http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=9pQudN5-wqw&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D9pQudN5-wqw The lipo balance connector for powering the video tx can be a bit of a footer to squeeze in Any you guys use the auxiliary power cord on the RH leg to power video tx ?
  21. Nice bit of trouble shooting bud ,glad you got it sorted
  22. Rogue flashing LED's ... Calibrated the IMU on the Phantom Test flight before heading to work All sweet again
