  1. Sorry Mate- had in mind to respond but forgot! Lol I actually carefull hosed it down after beach runs every day and then used the wife's hairdryer- rust has appeared but when I got back home did a semi strip and clean and WD40 all over. My Son did drive it into the sea- albeit a few inches of water and luckily nothing happened! Some rust is still there The aftermarket roof is holding up well but I'm not a heavy basher- but many skids on the roof! The rear bumper was just some thick rubber glued on- it's now off but I've added Typon rear wing that is holding up well and protecting the damaged back. Sadly it's been a month and I haven't been out with it ☹️. Lol I think I also forgot to put Lipos on storage charge!!
  2. Love it thanks! Not getting out as much as I'd prefer but it's taken a beating between me and my son when we do get out and I've only replaced a drive shaft...not much skate park use but more jumps on grass. It's built like a tank and so glad I got it.... worth it in my opinion. 👍 Pic from Isle of Wight😁.......coz I can lol.
  3. Ah brilliant thanks all! Ordered the Granite just now! Not one for huge speeds but more the 'daft fun factor'. Now the anxious wait and good behaviour to get brownie points with the wife as she won't be seeing me for a while once it arrives😜 Love this place!
  4. Hi All Think I've over researched (if there is such a thing!) and now struggling between these two. Ideally I love the look of the Corally Jambo/Kronos where the shell is not that high but they are 1/8 and I'm after 1/10. The Kraton 4s is cool as well but doesn't seem to be available anywhere....but you get the idea. So after reading the threads on the Rival MT10 and the Granite V3 and watching countless YouTube vids think I've overdone it! Am willing to the pay the extra £80 for the Granite but would it be lost on me as I'm still a noobie and only do light bashing and weekend driving with my kid? (Sticking with 2s Lipos that I already have for my Strada MT brushless). Will look at getting 3S when more experienced. Also slipper clutch on Granite vs differential on Rival MT10....does it matter for my type of driving? Watched a vid on Youtube but couldn't decide. Also read about the problems with the front arms for the Rival MT10 but that hasn't put me off completeley but kind of feel support for the Granite is better? £350 is max so just need tipping over in favour of one of these please from experienced members if possible😉 Thanks!
  5. Thanks 👍 All ok so far over the weekend. Just need my Lipo's delivered now as the NiMH just not giving enough juice for full throttle.
  6. It was these ones from earlier in the thread- https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1-10-RC-Car-Upgrade-Steering-Parts-Set-for-HSP-94122-94123-94111-94188-RC-Truck/383776354664?_trkparms=aid%3D1110018%26algo%3DHOMESPLICE.COMPLISTINGS%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20200818142838%26meid%3D09497b9c587b4f0c8e3f1765f6c66715%26pid%3D101197%26rk%3D6%26rkt%3D12%26mehot%3Dpf%26sd%3D373230976752%26itm%3D383776354664%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D0%26pg%3D2047675%26algv%3DItemStripV101HighAdFee%26brand%3DUnbranded&_trksid=p2047675.c101197.m1850 The pins dont fit snugly in the hex - they just slip out. With the original hex you could turn it upside down and the pin would stay. With these alu ones the machining for the pin bed is too wide. The pins are in on the axle but I didn't get that nice 'click' when putting the alu hex on. Seems to work ok but just wondering if anything long term going to happen.
  7. I ended up getting the aluminium upgrades from the earlier in the the thread. Working through and learning loads from here👍 Confused about the wheel hex- the old ones would 'snap' in as the pin kind of popped into the gap. With the aluminium hex the pin doesn't even fit into the gap (to small) and I've just let the alu hex sit there and screwed the wheel back on. Is that normal for these alu upgrades? I know they're cheap but shouldn't be any issues........should there?
  8. Cheers again Fourmiz29- I think I've worked out the connectors are spade connectors, so now looking down the route of another ESC or soldering Deans (haven't soldered for years!!) Thanks for the servo - will check out!
  9. Yes I was surprised at how long the battery lasted- a good 25 mins . Think it will be the route of a slightly bigger battery (18650 2s as opposed to the 185000 2s supplied) and tie it down as there is some space under the shell.
  10. Hi All I'm getting back into all of this after a few years and just got a used MT EVO S (old one) off Ebay that was faulty so I can jump into the deep end to try fix and learn on the way. The Tx wasn't connecting but I have another Tx for my old brushed EVO XB that connected straight away so I guess the Tx from the Ebay one was faulty. Then started getting into it and got a bit confused with what has been done to battery connections on this one. So questions are:- 1. Struggling to get hold of the same Tx (MV22711 or the MTX-242) off the usual websites, so I'm guessing I have to buy the TX and RX as a set- is it just plug , bind and play? 2. Or can I get just a newer model transmitter like this one https://www.modelsport.co.uk/maverick-mtx-244-2-4ghz-3ch-transmitter/rc-car-products/432923 and it will bind? 3. Also just for my knowledge would a completelyt different one like this https://www.modelsport.co.uk/0/rc-car-products/442915 work? (Not looking to spend too much on this 'project') 4. The connectors out of the ESC are like shown in the first pic. I've searched the internet and cannot fathom what these are. The manual says they should be 4mm Gold connectors so I can only think that the previous owner did something to them? Ideally I will want to run 2s lipo battery at a later date so I will have to change these to a Deans? The other pics show how the NiMH batteries connect to these - The batteries have EC3 female (pic2) which then connects to a EC3 male adaptor on one end (pic3) with the connection then to the ESC (pic4). Once I figure out the Lipo connection I'll use these batteries on my brushed EVO XB as there is also a tamya plug (pic 5) 5. There is quite a big gap between the shell and the chassis- in wet grass wouldn't this fry the ESC ? As far as I can tell the stock ESC is not waterproof in these old ones (MV26999) Also the front wheels don't travel as far as they should even with the trims set to high so going to reserach into servo stuff to try figure it out😉 But anyhelp on the Tx/Rx and connectors appreciated! Cheers!
  11. Thanks.....its the BL Truggy- the 16890. Quick search was fruitless as its such a small tray and battery (50x36x19) but will keep seraching thanks! Have asked banggood as well for spare - will wait for a response
  12. Evening All! Mine arrived today from banggood and I ordered it on 14th Feb and was free shipping- weird. Also ordered the oil filled shocks along with a lipo charger but they haven't arrived yet. This has Li ion battery but looking around I think the Lipo charger will stil work For me, coming from the old Maverick Strada XB Evo brushed, this thing is brilliant for the price . Had a few runs only but was impressed. Time (and my driving) will tell..... Question- I can't seem to locate a spare battery for it anywhere- looked on banggood and Ali but the sizes don't match this- have any of you got any info or ordered something similar that will fit in the tray? Cheers
  13. One of my steering holders broke today- minor crash into a rock! Also front bumper broke a while ago- at the point where it screws onto the chassis, so I need to replace the whole chassis.... (just superglued for now). I'm starting to think these aren't that strong for newbies- oh and I'm not brushless so my speeds are low compared to yours!
  14. Thanks people for the responses and links- That's has helped a lot! I had seen the ezruns as they were cheaper but wasn't sure about the torque/tuns for the 4wd- but it seems people have used them and they are good! Anyway broken someting in the front right steering linkage today so I think I'm out of action until spares are ordered! Cheers
  15. Yo all Thinking of going brushless and posted in the Maverick forum but obviously more views here- I have the Maverick Strada Xb Evo brushed and am thinking of brushless now.The one offered for this model is- http://www.wheelspin....co.uk/i/97422/ and the ESC is http://www.wheelspin....co.uk/i/97449/ Now I understand the KV in motor but does the 22BL mean 22 turns? Reading this thread for the brushed version seems to suggest that the brushed motor is 22T- http://www.msuk-foru...vo-motor-turns/ But the description for the ESC on the Modelsport website for this car and my buggy says 'Forward/reverse speed control (13-turn brushed motor limit)'- I'm guessing 13T is the minimum?? Anyway if the brushless is 22 Turn- can anyone help by suggesting any other suitable/similar brushless motors and ESCs for cheaper?? Looking for someting that will be fast but still have good torque! many combos I have looked at do not mention turns.. Also do I need to mess with gearing (pinions etc etc) or 'beef' up the parts- e.g shocks? Or can I just put in a brushless motor and ESC .....just plug and play! I'm not on Lipo and mainly faff in the park and street- possibly will go to local bash soon (wife permitting!) Hope that makes sense!! Cheers
  16. Yo all! Newbie here and have just got a Strada XB Evo- already broken the front bumper in a place which means I need to replace the whole chassis and not just the front bumper! It was after many fast crashes learning to control the car! Anyway now I think I've mastered the controls I want to go brushless and was initially confused but am now getting there on the specs of brushless motors. The one offered for this model is- http://www.wheelspin....co.uk/i/97422/ and the ESC is http://www.wheelspin....co.uk/i/97449/ Now I understand the KV in motor but does the 22BL mean 22 turns? I can't find how many turns the motor has. Also any of you experineced Maverick people know of any other suitable/similar brushless motors and ESCs for cheaper?? Someting that will be fast but stil have good torque! Also do I need to mess with gearing or 'beef' up the parts- e.g shocks? Or can I just put in a brushless motor and ESC ...plug and play! Cheers
  17. Hey mac74- I think i've finally figured it out- http://www.radioctrl...t_does_mean-79/ Here is the text from the Admin who posted the explanantion there The KV rating refers to the rpm (revolutions per minute) the motor will turn on 1V (one Volt) with no load on the motor. A 2200 KV motor on 6S LiPo batteries means 55440 rpm with no load. This is a theoretical value and brushless motors must not be run without any load. Also, KV is not to be confused with kV which means kilo-Volt (1000 Volt). To complicate matters, a low-KV motor has more winds of thinner wire and will carry more volts at less amps and produce more torque, meaning you can run a bigger truck or propeller. A high-KV motor has less winds of thicker wire and will carry more amps at less volts meaning a small truck or propeller will go faster. You have to choose a motor for the setup you are running, not automatically go for the one with the highest rating. Check out this link for more information and examples: Meaning of KV for electric motors The turns of a motor means how many times the wire is wrapped around the armature. The higher the number of turns, the more torque the motor has, but at a lower rpm. The lower the number of turns, the less torque the motor has, but at a higher rpm. An example would be an rc crawler. You would want a motor with a high number of turns to have a lot of power at low rpm to be able to climb rocks efficiently. A truck for bashing and high speed would want a low-turn motor.
  18. Thanks for the help guys , so is this correct then - The 9T @ 4370KV produces high revs and not much Torque- which is ideal for 2WD, then I'm better off with the 12T @ 3300KV? I get a balance between good torque and speed- in the sense speed will improve over brushed anyway and also torque for my 4WD is not that compromised?
  19. Evening all Noob here is very confused about going brushless- there are so many options and I've confused myself after too much browsing! I read the Elecric Guide and the Gearing guide but am none the wiser (or just thick!) I got the Maverick Strada EB Evo for Christmas- http://www.modelspor...-products/38124 And am looking at these brushless set ups- Maverick one- http://www.wheelspin....co.uk/i/97422/ 3215Kv. Thats just the motor, the ESC (http://www.wheelspin....co.uk/i/97449/) is another
  20. Yup- you're correct- started looking at the HPI site and it is MV22091- http://www.hpiracing...?partNo=MV22091 I have superglued the chassis - lets see how long it lasts- as the driving has improved now and not as many knocks! I have that manual you sent in the link- I'm looking for something like a 'Strada Evo for dummies' guide- just in case I decided to take it apart and put it back together again! But that's probably me being too cautious and should just dive in and do it and learn! Cheers for the info!
  21. Thanks Jason- I know the part numbers- however MV22631 picture on the manual is different from the MV22631 online to buy. Hence my question on why my front bu,per is curved and the online ones arent.
  22. Morning all ! I am a newbie- got my XB Evo Buggy for my son (and me!) to mess around with it for Christams! http://www.modelspor...-products/38124 We have broken the front bumper (after loads of high speed knocks!!)- It's taken part of the chasis with it so I guess I need the full chasis replaced- see picture which shows where the screws have ripped the end part of the chasis off. Anyway i was looking for a replacement bumper just in case and the part number is MV22631 in the link below http://www.hpiracing...rada_EVO_XB.pdf However seraching for this part brings up this bumper- http://www.wheelspin....co.uk/i/97448/ Whick looks different- I'm sure it fits but I cannot find that 'curved' bumper shown in the picture? Does anyone know where I can get the curved bumper if I needed it? Also I'm new to so doe sanyone have any instructions - like a manual showing how to put this whole thing together- just worried when I start replacing the chasis I'll forget some piece and how it fitted in!! Thanks
  23. Motivater For exatly the same reasons as you (Ok I'm 2 years younger!) I went for the Strada- http://www.modelsport.co.uk/maverick-strada-xb-evo-rtr-buggy/rc-car-products/38124 Got the fast charger and an extra 4500mAh battery for
  24. Thanks for the info on battery times! Ordered it and hopefully be here after weekend! Don't think we can wait 'till christmas to play
  25. Morning all! Gonna take the plunge and get the Strada- saw some Youtube vids and convinced the kid! I'll get the 4500mAh battery so should hopefully get ok run time. Anyone have an estimate of how long the strada with run with the 4500mAh battery before recharging? Also still just curious if 4WD eats more battery than 2WD? Cheers
