  1. Guys, Back in the days of old I use to race 2wd buggies at the Chingford Car Club. I think that was what it was called. Any way, any one on here have any memories of the club and its people? My memory is useless at the best of times, thinking back that far is like another life time away. Thanks Jamie
  2. as going to try and do my best to make this event depending on dates. Unfortunately this coincides with Ride London which I will be taking part in. Be interested in any other vintage RC meets?
  3. Wasn't Parma as I would have remembered that, good suggestion though as I didn't know they made paints so this is something that I can check out. Looking at the site they mention the paint doesn't crack. The paint on my shell is cracking and splitting off badly. The guy in the shop said its probably not Tamiya as their paint wouldn't do this sort of thing. Pactra is another good suggestion, I think I need to find a shop which stocks these and pay them a visit. I'm probably crazy trying to find the exact colour and match them, the harder this gets the more I want to try and find a match. Potentially I am going to waste a bit on paints but will hopefully get there in the end. Thanks guys.
  4. Guy's went down the local hobby shop today to get some paint for my new repro Tomy shell. I couldnt find an exact match and was advised that there was another company back in the day who made spray paints but is long out of business. Any one got an idea of who the company was? I'm sure it started with a p but when I asked the guy a few minutes later he couldn't remember what he had said. I'm trying to paint my new shell the same colour scheme as the one I am replicating. Thanks
  5. OK thanks, been advised running a brushless motor in an old car can be a bad idea. Especially if there is no slipper which my car doesn't have.
  6. Thanks guys, I spoke to a Tomy user who said the saddles just need to be below 25mm which these are. I am mainly concerned about the compatibility of the esc to the battery and the motor. If it just a case of changing connectors that should be fine. I assume the equipment will come with plenty of instructions on how to connect up etc? Do you think the combo listed will be as quick as cars of this era were originally? If I'm not fortunate to be able to upgrade further around the summer time I don't really want to be crawling around the track. Thanks again for the help.
  7. Hi Guy's, having been away from the hobby all my knowledge is long gone, thinking back not sure if I had it in the first place. I want to get some basic kit together to practice running my Tomy Intruder and then move the gear over to my RC10T3 for just messing about with. At a later stage I may go brushless but have been advised I will probably kill the Tomy diffs. Not something I want to do. So to get me going will the following work together and if I order exactly whats linked will I have all the parts or do I need to buy more connectors, wires or anything else? Hobbywing QUICRUN 1060 Brushed ESC http://www.modelsport.co.uk/hobbywing-quicrun-1060-brushed-esc/rc-car-products/382831 Orion 2S 7.4v Carbon Pro 5800mAh 100C Li-Poly Saddle Pack Battery w/Tubes http://www.modelsport.co.uk/orion-2s-7.4v-carbon-pro-5800mah-100c-li-poly-saddle-pack-battery-w-tubes/rc-car-products/384850 Overlander RC6-VSP 80watt 7A Output AC/DC Charger http://www.modelsport.co.uk/overlander-rc6-vsp-80watt-7a-output-ac-dc-charger/rc-car-products/379060 Tamiya RS-540 Sport Tuned Motor http://www.modelsport.co.uk/tamiya-rs-540-sport-tuned-motor/rc-car-products/1474 I have old radio gear that I will also be upgrading at a later stage, hopefully the receiver and servo that I have will work with the above. Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks Deselby
  8. I must be really stupid! This is for a Tomy Intruder. I just placed it against one of my spare chassis and it fits perfect! Never seen one before now.
  9. Done, and good idea. I also asked if they still produce Tomy parts while I was at it.
  10. Hi Guys, Wondering if anyone can help me to ID this FIBRE-LYTE chassis? This arrived in a box of bits I recently picked up. Thanks Deselby
  11. Thanks Noj New shell ordered. I have all the other bits already. Still looking if anyone has anything.
  12. Thanks Si. I think I would certainly prefer to run on a spare belt from a different source instead of stripping an original one. OK, so this is a sneak peek of one of the new Intruders. Looks to have some hop up parts which I didn't know existed and also looks to have been modified with over sized shock mounts and dampers. I'm going to get this one up to running condition first. Then using all my other spares hopefully build
  13. Hi guys, Long shot I know, anyone have any Tomy Intruder or Ex spares they may want to sell? After anything really at the right price. Trying to get one or two cars working with the aim to racing. Especially looking for wheels (original) or dampers. All other spares considered as well. Thanks Deselby.
  14. Guy, I'm sorry I went on the missing list for a while. Had a wonderful daughter, moved house etc etc. Hopefully I am back but who knows what life will send my way. So, I never got around to reproducing the wing, I started to try but its actually pretty difficult. I may try again or may just have to put up with other wings on the market. Since posting the above I picked up a number of spares and depending in what I can get I can either build another one or two cars. Below is a list of parts though that I would like to know if anyone has or any alternatives that could be used, either period ones that people would have used back in the day to race with or modern alternatives. I would love to get one car race worthy and attend a race during 2016. Here is what I need or please suggest alternatives Diff balls, these look to be 3.5 and 1.6 mm?? Diff gears Drive belts, big and small Dampers - I seem to have once car with an original set, one car with some monster truck ones on and then various bits of cars with no dampers! Wheels, I don't have a full sett of good original wheels. Bearings, or whats the best way to clean the originals? I will try and get some pics up at the weekend of what I have, the original car has been stripped of electrics as I used these in an RC10T3. I think I will keep the original car as is and just build up another one/two to take to a race meeting. Thanks Deselby
