  1. Hi Gaz, Thanks for the detailed email. useful advice again. Was a bit unsure of hobbyking for a couple of reasons. Firstly they're overseas and I was worried about delivery and customs etc. I guess this is less of an issue than I thought? Secondly, the choice of stuff on their site is bewildering. I gather from advice received (and a bit of background reading) that I should be looking for a 60A esc with a 9-12T motor and programming card. Could anyone have a quick look over these and make any suggestions? Don't want to spend my cash on stuff that isn't compatible. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__7195__EZ_RUN_Brushless_Motor_9T_4300Kv.html Compatible with mad monkey? Is 9T too powerful? http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__11743__HobbyKing_Brushless_Car_ESC_60A_w_Reverse.html Which programming card would work with this and how would the whole package compare to this?: http://www.modelsport.co.uk/etronix-photon-1-10-brushless-system-9.0r/rc-car-products/39695 Sorry for all the questions. Just classic newbie stuff I guess. Cheers Cheers, Ivan
  2. Thanks again. It seems that it makes sense to go for a lipo set up now and so at least leave an open path to brushless later on. I was thinking about the two items below: http://www.giantcod.co.uk/power-a606-dual-charger-p-405325.html and http://www.modelsport.co.uk/overlander-sport-7.4v-3900mah-25c-lipo-stick-pack/rc-car-products/38673 Cheers, Ivan
  3. Again, really useful advice. Thanks. Another newbie question of you have the time. Do I need a balanced charger or would the prolux one do the job? It looks pretty solid and I'd be able to use it for my bike light lipos too I guess. http://www.modelspor...-products/39979 Oh yes, and any thoughts on the upgraded brushed motor option still gratefully received. Cheers, Cuiken
  4. BTW, what discharge rate would I need on a lipo? Clearly the higher the better but what would be the minimum to consider? Cheers, Cuiken
  5. Thanks guys. Good useful advice there. Can anyone comment on the benefits of a brushless set up over an upgraded brushed motor for a simple basher? BTW, checked on ebay and couldn't see the ezrun combo for £25. Thanks, Cuiken
  6. Okay, that sounds like a good tip. My gut feeling is that the 2wd would be simpler and so more reliable (plus I like the slipper clutch). As regards the brushless conversion, is that essential? I was thinking of getting a 12T brushed motor and seeing how much of an improvement that might bring? Cheers, Cuiken
  7. I have an old 27MHz tx and rx but that is it. I'd be buying all the rest. Figured I'd start on a cheaper buggy and see if I enjoyed it. Used to have a Tamiya blackfoot when I was a kid and fancied reliving the RC fun. Budget is low-ish. Maybe £160 all in. Was avoiding the rtr packages as I much prefer my old stick tx to the pistol txs that come with the rtr packages. Cheers, Cuiken
  8. Looking to buy my first buggy and like the look of the ansmann mad monkey and blizzard cars. Really its a 2wd vs 4wd question. This would only be a basher so I don't know if 4wd would be a benefit or not. I gather that the blizzard lacks a slipper clutch and perhaps the 4wd is just unnecessary (and something else to go wrong). That said, extra grip can't be a bad thing? Any advice? Cheers, Cuiken
