  1. Great when you spend £550 on Insurance, £255 on Tax, then the car breaks. Thats the 5ive order i just place getting cancelled.....

I'd heard re the licensing costs - presumably there's no alternative?  I run a newish 1:1. and will be swapping it this year so I get the benefit of 3 yrs min manufacturers warranty.  Doing so galls me no end.  If I had the space and could find a good enough one to start with i'd happily go back to an older vehicle - something like my 1kzt powered 4-runner - nothing more complicated electrically that couldn't be diagnosed with a multi-meter.

Probably just the brushes worn out on the motor, which is the cheap fix. But as said, no space to do it. Also im 50 mile round trip to my work, so no real option to leave the car at a garage over night.

Older cars are great, its just wearing things out. 20 years old and 85k so its at the stage where mechanical things will wear. just dont want to sell it as its not rusty so apart from things wearing out theres nothing wrong with it....

85k is just run in. My trusty Astra has 191k on it at moment and it's 15 years old. Still gets used just not every day now.

  2. Sounds like your sensor cable is faulty or maybe just not plugged in right? Would explain why it will not start from a stand still but spin up when there is no load
  3. If you're on a budget, you can't go better that this for an ESC. https://hobbyking.com/en_us/turnigy-trackstar-1-5th-scale-sensorless-200amp-8s-opto-car-esc.html I've used one in my 5ive since i've got it and its never missed a beat. Paired it with various motors around 800kv, geared for around 50ish and it doesnt break a sweat. Motors are a bit random for large scales. Can sometimes pick them up cheap, but its luck of the draw. Best value is probably Tenshocks at around $200. Think there are some cheaper but they're all lower KV.
  4. You can make 1/8 SCT by using 1/8ths that have truggy and buggy models. For instance a Hyper ST Chassis with Hyper 7 Arms. Need the truggy chassis for the length and the buggy arms for the width. Same works with Hong nor X1 and X2's. Have had one made for a few years. Thread Here: Only issue is trying to find shells that fit in stock anywhere
  5. For me, its always rubber for anything that is exposed to dirt, and metal for anything internal/clean. Rubber is slightly higher friction, but in a Tamiya I doubt you would notice any difference.
  6. Biiiiiig box in the post today. Can only mean one thing! Bonus was I seem to have got a full set of arms, not just rear ones. Bit of a win there as it will save me a few quid. Driveshafts, linkages and front bumper to get.
  7. Thats different cause; A: There was never a Savox as as throttle servo and; B: It has holes in it Servo is just fine and was actually cleaner than i thought! The actual mounting system you had didn't fit mine due to the brushless conversion so I ended up making my own. The rest of it is in a box somewhere safe....
  8. The tray is in a box being kept nice and warm. Servo, er ah *Runs to buy brasso* Cheers. Its more the budget which is holding things up at the minute. New 5ive shell and cage wasnt cheap!
  9. Had this for a good while. It's Nojs old 5ive rally. Currently fitted with 800kv Tenshock, uber budget Trackstart 200a 8s ESC, and a very nice Tonie Servo (Cheers to @Rover Man). Been bashing it about like this since I got it, finally got some footage as a mate brought a drone along. Tracking gets better as he gets used to following it! Currently it looks like this..... And the video of how it ended up like that. No sound cause Drone. On the process of turning it back int oa SC, mainly just cause it should make it a better basher. Shell and cage on the way as well as some rear wishbones. Needing Front Wishbones, full link set, driveshafts and a bumper and I think thats it.
  10. Cheers but needing 8mm bore for everything.
  11. Looking for some Mod 1 and Mod 1.5 8mm Bore Pinions. Mod 1.5 looking for 18T and Above Mod 1 looking for 38T + Cheers

    Which solder?

Ive always used silver solder. Higher melting point, and as long as its the real lead stuff flows very nicely.
  13. Will PM you. PS does SMP Slide ring a bell?
  14. What TP Motor is it? 800kv is good for 15s. Exact Combo I have planned for my 5ive!
  15. I have a Tamiya M05 i would sell as a roller. Almost new Civic Shell, every hop up and has the super Tamiya TRF Flouride shocks etc etc. Would come with a couple of sets of sweeps as well which are perfect if you were planning on racing it which is what I did with it.. Just send me a PM if you want more details
  16. No idea if this is correct, but heres my guess..... SSD i assume runs on a SATA3 revision or similar. The ODD i would guess runs on an older slower SATA Revision. I would guess the motherboard has compatibility for both. Maybe the chip/setting/etc that controls SATA3 has gone bust? Just a stab in the dark
  17. Wasn't mine. Belonged to MGM, which Bez had it over for "testing". Saving is taking place for the 400a MGM...... Just need the pound to strengthen
  18. 15s 5ive is actually a hoot. Handles the power more than ok! Apart from driveshafts, i did snap one of them
  19. Hong Nor X1 Buggy. Complete rolling chassis. Easy conversion to brushless or back to nitro with a couple of bits. All driveshafts nice and straight, shocks in good order and decent shell (Minor crack) £60 posted.
