  1. If you're splitting the electrics I could do with the ESC I'll PM you now.
  2. Zap121, are you still interested in this?
  3. If you don't want to go the full XL length take a look at IRC extended TVPs. They give a decent enough extension to improve handling and tame wheelies, but without giving the 'stretched' proportions of the XL. I have a set on mine, and also some offset wheels, HPI suspension conversion kit, and HPI sway bars. It actually handles pretty damn well for a Savage, but hasn't lost it's 'monster truckness'. Personally I don't like the idea of a centre diff in a MT, if you're going to go that far why not just get a truggy?
  4. Running a lower KV with higher voltage (say, 1800kv on 5/6s opposed to 2650kv on 4s) is more efficient, so you get longer run times and less heat. Obviously gearing plays a part too.
  5. Just tried to PM you, I think your folder is full.
  6. Hi, yes still for sale, will PM you now
  7. As new Turnigy 160A ESC, basically only been taken out of the box, bullets soldered on, and tested. Only selling as I didn't realise it only goes up to 4S. The motor is a Turnigy XK3674 2200kv, this is well used and has various marks and scrapes, but works perfectly and is a great match to the above ESC.
  8. There's no need for a BEC if you use a LiFe pack, as they have a lower voltage than LiPo (6.6v nominal). This is slightly above a NiMH but still well within the tolerances of most receivers and servos. I run one in my Savage and it's fantastic, I only have to charge it occasionally. Make sure you have a compatible charger though. Here's the one I use: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/6-6v-1600mAh-LiFe-RX-Battery-Vapextech-Hump-/220888943885
  9. As long as I can get an ESC before then :/
  10. As long as I can get an ESC before then :/
  11. Generally speaking, Integy stuff is crap. Looks nice and shiny, but has the consistency of cheese. The only alloy upgrades worth fitting are made by Innovative RC, FLM, or Alza Racing. All top quality stuff.
  12. As far as I know the shocks on the XL are identical to the X. Depending on budget, the ultimate upgrade are the Innovative RC Big Bore V2 shocks. They are huge and absolutely nuke-proof, but expensive at around
  13. I did pretty much what Bez did and built a 1/8 SCT, but I used a Hyper ST chassis with Hyper 7 arms etc. I used SC8 wheels too, they use a 17mm hex but normal short course tyres. See the link in my sig for the build thread.
  14. Decided to see what it jumps like. The only ramp I have is too big for this really, it's the one I use to launch my 1/8 stuff into orbit, but the little rally car took it really well, here's a vid of my son jumping it: Considering that ramp is too big for it really, it jumps brilliantly. When I tried launching it off that ramp as a SCT it was just a case of launching it and hoping for the best, and it would rarely land cleanly due to parachuting and pretty much no control, but the rally shell and smaller wheels have made it jump much more cleanly. I sails through the air nicely and just a little dab of the brakes brings the nose down for a clean landing Cracking fun this little car
  15. Yep, stock brushless system on 2S. It's quick without being over powered.
  16. Thought I'd post this in here as not everybody frequents the rally section. Basically it's a Losi Mini Short Course chassis with an ABC hobby Datsun Sunny shell, the build thread is here: http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/topic/178290-rally-projectwith-a-bit-of-a-difference-updated-25-8-13-new-pics-and-vid/ And a quick couple of vids:
  17. Gave it a bit of a blast in the garden today, and it is epic fun. The smaller wheels and better grip of the rally blocks makes it much more controllable than when it was a SCT. Drifts are great fun, and nicely controllable. I need some thicker shock oil though, as it's a bit 'bouncy', particularly at the rear. Over all though I'm very happy with the way it handles, it's a hoot Here are some action shots, and a quick vid:
  18. Shame you can't make it mate. I'd love to be out today but still need to sort an ESC for my Hyper.
  19. Thanks mate, that was the interior and cage I had my eye on actually, I'm sure I'd be able to trim it down.
  20. Paint is now done, and most of the decals fitted, just need to get some numbers. I went for the traditional Datsun red, blue and white colouring. Considering my painting skills basically suck, I'm pretty damn pleased with the way it's come out: LED kit arrived too, not the best pics, but you get the idea: Still waiting on some body clips that I ordered ages ago so I can't run it yet, when I do run it I'll take some action pics and a bit of a vid Next on the agenda will be some mirrors and wipers, and I'd like to fit an interior and roll cage, but I'll run it as it is for now, can't wait to give it a blast
  21. Thanks for the tip I've started the paint, will update later today with pics
