  1. I just fitted a .26 max to my revo a couple of weeks ago- it's possible that's not exactly the same mount as I have but it sure looks the same so I think it almost certainly is. First thing- the hole is wide enough to provide some adjustment- it has WAY less than the stock mount, but there is enough there to get the engine in and get a decent mesh. Needed a tiny little shove to get the mesh, tendency to be tight as it's such a snug fit. I mounted it with the 14 tooth clutch bell and then replaced with 17 tooth, worked fine (someone told me they have a 20T on theirs) which makes sense as the thing has ridiculous torque compared to the 3.3. Stock spur gear was fine. Re the carb lever- it came out of the box pointing the wrong direction, just needed spinning round to fit before tightening it up. Does that help? Apologies if that is not actually the same mount! I got mine off a guy on ebay, mount came with the engine, not labelled. As I say though, sure looks like that. NOTES: I needs a 3 shoe clutch, it'll kill your stock clutch in no time. Also, I ran it in then lasted 1 tank before I shredded my tranny.
  2. i was not aware of that! obviously i'll never crash a plane again so there won;t be any need for me to use that! HAHAHAHA yeah right.
  3. ahah! fixed it! in case this is of any interest, i weighted it down to stress the higher one, left it for abougt 5 hours, and it had mved down just the right amount. hooraays!
  4. i've got half way through building a v-trainer from flyingwings. i'v e glued the wing tips on to the centre wing section but they are on at noticeably different angles. clearly i'm an idiot. i've used uhu por glue. is there a way i can even up the angle of the wing tips?
  5. We're starting the Clapton Air Force. We've each got a Supercub LP. Learning to fly at the mo so all a bit fraught, but soon we'll be dive-bombing and dog fighting. I've got a half-built V-trainer at home as well, but I glued the wings together at a wonky angle coz I'm an idiot and I haven;t got around to finding out what to do about it yet!
  6. i haven';t got a temp gun i'm afraid, probably ought to get one. just lick my finger and pop it on top of the cooling head. not exactly top science. i've only just run the engine in, and truck now disabled while i wait for the new gear, so i haven't really got my head round it yet, not properly tuned for perfomrance but it does seem to run pretty cool at the mo.
  7. HAHA! Bloody hell! I put the picco in with a jp3 side pipe on abit of coat hangar. ran it in, realised it was going to be pretty quick. tank 10 - leaned it out a quarter turn and gunned it- WOAH! it is crazy! totally different truck! the thing wheelies like mental! goes like a rocket in a straight line! tank 11 - charging up and down round goal p[osts at full speed, stripped the input gear in the tranny (and yeah, it does have fwd only conversion) so i guess you need to be a bit careful about that. Guess this was because i was gunning along doing speed runs for a while and it overheated the tranny? softened the gear till it stripped? does that sound right? or is there something else I need to keep an eye on?
  8. I'm often there earlier on a sunday, this morning was there at 8.45!
  9. my hyper st has the stock mach 28 in it. want to put a new pipe on, use it for bashing, around the short dirt track on hackney marshes mainly. problem- the track is short and tight so to get round it fast it needs low end, but i also blatt it around the open grass so i don't want to sacrifice top end. the engine has loads of grunt at low end, i guess an 086 would make sense, but maybe a jp3 would be better for all round performance? not really sure i understand how the jp3 racks up against 086 / 053 any suggestions? i won't be racing competitively so doesn't need to be race legal OR I could whack an 053 on, - should have a spare one soon- and maybe up the gearing? would that make sense? would presumably be cheaper?
  10. oh cheers ok, and it won't sacrifice acceleration and wheelies if i put a 17t bell on it? wheelies are very important! and yeah, i've got a 3 shoe clutch for it
  11. ah right sweet so i've ordered an 053 pipe for it, so i should prob get a bell with more teeth? you can get 14, 15, 16, or 17 tooth bells for the revo as far as i can tell. reckon i should get a 17 tooth bell then? is that a tenner well spent?
  12. I'm gradually getting a picco 26 in my revo, should be ready to go shortly. i'm wondering about clutch bell teeth. it's got the stock 3.3 clutch bell on at the mo, and I don;t really understand what difference changing it to any given alternative would make- obv the picco has bags more torque so should i be changing the gearing? anyone fancy explianing how much difference the different gearings make, and making a suggestion on whether i should change for my luvly new picco?
  13. the steering on my revo is pretty lame compared to my hyper st. i'd really like to know whether that's just the way it is and i should try not to thnk about it too much, or whether i should whack a decent single servo on the steering. will that help much? also, can i just chuck one in, lose the extra servo and linkage? i know there's a kit, but not sure that i actually need to get it innit.
  14. aha! thanks guys! i assumed it was a material! so now i know.
  15. what is CNC? wikipedia tells me nothing!
  16. i've got CNC chassis braces to fit to my hyper st rtr, but realised the front one is slightly different dimensions from stock rtr one. a quick google tells me it can be made to fit "with some work" but doesn't specify what that work is. any tips on how to get the thing in there?
  17. i just put a hemi cuda shell on my Hyper ST, looks lovely! needed a bit of a trim but fits fine http://www.modelsport.co.uk/hpi-1970-plymouth-hemi-cuda-body/rc-car-products/18163
  18. i've only got the standard air filter at the mo- guess i should get a decent one innit. what air filter should i get?
  19. cheers dude will do! got the picco sitting on my desk. Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
  20. oh! look at that! dead easy innit! thanks!! ok yeah maybe i will do that then! if i was to get an 053 pipe what header would i need to get it on to the picco? got clutch and rotostart on order. not looking forward to building the clutch! seems i can use a rotostart that would fit the trx 3.3 on the picco.
  21. brilliant! thanks dude! yep it's the pullstart version. main thing putting me off a side pipe is assuming it will be a pain to mount- is there much to it?
  22. hi guys, i was wondering if anyone could help me with links to stuff i'll need to go with the picco 26 i've just ordered! i've seen advice that i'll need clutch and diff upgrades but as i'm still a n00b i don;t really know exactly what it is i need. if i could get links of you guys i could see exactly what it is i need innit. anyone know? also i'm going to want to shove a rotostart back plate on the thing. anyone know which i need to buy to fit it? is there anything else i need that i haven't realised i need? i know there's advice to get new pipe etc but to be honest there's only so much money i can blow on this at the mo!
  23. I've put it on! looks great! Here's some pics! needed some trimming - i've taken off the exhaust pipes from the side and basically the whole back. also lost the rear wheel arches. works a bleedin' treat though! wheeeeeeeeee! took it out for a bash on the marshes today. lahvely! Zak (my boy) has named it Cool Rocket Starter because it looks so cool. I reckon that's a pretty good name.
  24. thanks guys! yeah i'll post pics when i've done it. i reckon i'm not that fussed if it looks a bit short, as long as it goes on!
