  1. Thanks for all the info. I have brought a tap and die set, so I can ream all rhe threads out to metric. Still have to order up all the screws. I will be upgrading it to lst2 spec with the 'performance' pack, which includes the ali diff cases, hubs and axles etc..I have found the kit for sale at a bargain price, Ive also been looking at the rpm a arms as well. I will probably get the yellow springs and sway bar set as well, as people seem to say it really makes them handle well.
  2. So the general consensus is tap them out and fit metric stuff?
  3. Hi chaps, I am now the owner of an original LST...so I have many questions! sorry if this has been covered before in this thread but I'm not overly keen on reading 100 pages and the forum search function never seems to find anything much... Here's a pic of the truck So the truck is in pretty good condition considering it's age, and I got some extra bits and bobs with it, like the HD skid plates for the bottom. I went to fit these parts, however I then discovered that probably 90% of the hex heads are stripped I have brought some imperial hex drivers..but I'm guessing a previous owner has been trying to remove things with metric. So where can I get a replacement screw set from?- preferably stainless steel. I have googled and came up with very little, It would be great to swap it all out with metric, but I'm not prepared to tap out every hole! I could make up my own kit I guess, but I'm also struggling to find a definitive list of all the type and size screws found on the LST. Help would really be appreciated as I can't do anything with this truck until I can get the screws out! I will probably have to cut slots in the majority of the screws with the dremel to remove them, but obviously I don't to start doing that until I have suitable replacements. I will probably have many more questions to ask so I hope you guys don't mind!
  4. Thanks paul, will get one ordered.
  5. The LST is ready to take on the pit ... (I think!)
  6. Beast! quality seems a lot nicer than HPI stuff..I have loads of upgrade bit's to stick on it, but I think i'll run it as it is, looks pretty solid!
  7. got my LST top bloke, smiling like a loon!!

  8. The whole money thing is nonsence..yes you maybe 15 so what?! Keep at it aim high! Then you can have a chuckle at all us sad old losers! Best of luck buddy. 9. Indeed, no mortgage or kids to feed yet..may as well spend money on something enjoyable while you can, because further down the line (4 kids, women and loads of bills) the opportunity gets somewhat harder to have... yeah I probably should of applied myself somewhat better
  10. What has age got to do with spending a lot of money? At least he's spending it on something he enjoys and will probably learn a lot from building it. AT least he's not spending his money on Booze, fags and drugs like me ( I'm joking ..just booze and fags!)
  11. nice to see some sketchup drawings
  12. Sounds good, hopefully I can get the new truck up and running without any issues..I ordered a pull start for it as I thinj the rota start on these losi 's have a funny size hex shaft fitment thats probably different so thought id order a pull start just in case. Will get sone pics up when it arrives.
  13. Good stuff, really looking forward to have a new truck to play with, think its going to be good.
  14. I'm currently getting excited by an Losi LST I have just brought, deciding on what I want to do with it and reading as much as I can about them. I maybe tempted to brushless it, although I should really get the mad force brushless sorted first, but I just got fed up with the thing eating diffs.
  15. Should be about Saturday, hopefully the LST will turn up Tuesday..I will probably strip it down clean, re-grease /threadlock etc. I got some extra goodies coming with it..Hardened bottom chassis plates and a brushless conversion kit and some 17mm hub extenders/adapters will see how it goes in nitro form to start with though. you sorted the wheel issue on the mta yet?
  16. yeah cheap bits are bad...I stupidly once brought some cheap B&Q dremel bits sounds like you have a pretty amazing job!
  17. Fascinating stuff lowen93 I have looked at these kits a few times and it's interesting to find out what they are really like to use ln the real world and how they perform. Please keep updating the thread about how your getting on with it and let us know the good and bad points. By the sounds of it the noise of a Dyson sucking away and screaming of cutting bits is not a good point
  18. A CNC /milling/routing machine is far more useful than a 3D printer for the stuff we want as you can cut things in a variety of materials, and the 'consumer' stuff is getting cheaper all the time...hopefully soon 6 axis machines will become affordable(ish) for plebs like myself
  19. They made part of a gun...just the lower frame /grip I believe and possibly the mag...which fired a few times then fell apart All the important stuff was from a real firearm..barrel, firing mechanism etc. The biggest use for 3D printers is to make prototype's so the designers can see how things will look/fit together before they go into mass production. I did a fair bit of research on them, because I was going to buy one
  20. Just finished a Clive Cussler book which are always fairly entertaining (the movie 'Sahara' with Matthew Mcconaughey was based on one of his books) The main character 'Dirk Pitt' is kind of like an underwater Indiana Jones mixed with James Bond - he specialises in underwater archaeology! lots of really over the top action adventure stuff, which is always nice escapism.
  21. A 3D printer is no good for making any sort of part that requires strength i.e RC parts, as the parts are made up by 'layering' the plastic. Unfortunately there's also not really any money to be made from making parts for people, unless you charge a lot of money. For one off custom parts that you cannot buy you could make a few quid, but making stuff that's readily available then the mass produced items will always be far far cheaper...
  22. I have a new toy on the way :-) Hopefully this one may survive a bit longer at the 'pit of death'!!!
