  1. Thought it wouldn't work, just wondered. I've returned the oil to Rapid Racing in exchange for the Mecatech fluid as recomended. Should get them fitted up this week end. Will be interested to see how they work compared to the trusty cable operated brakes. Think I will rig the hydros to the front, and the cables to the rear. At least I will be able to get rid of the feeble layshaft brake.
  2. Cheers Mike, will the oil I have ordered be no good. On another note, has anyone tried runining all four callipers from one master cylinder, just a thought.
  3. Hi Paul, there isn't anything on the master cylinder to indicate what type of fluid to use. Some use a mineral based oil, others a synthetic, if you use the wrong type it can rot the seals pretty quickly. I plumbed for this from Rapid Racing http://www.rapid-racing.co.uk/details.asp?ID=5165 hopefully it will be right.
  4. Nice one, placed order this morning, and for some brake fluid too. Cheers for your help.
  5. Hi Jim. Managed to find the link to the hydros on Ebay. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/220762374890?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fshop.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp5039.m570.l1313%26_nkw%3D220762374890%26_sacat%3DSee-All-Categories%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1 What do you think. The ones on the link for 159 euroes look sweet, not overly expensive either.
  6. Bought some hydros of fleebay recently and will be fitting them to my FG Baja 4wd front hubs. They are Megatec calipers, not sure if the master cylinder is though. Its the thin alloy one with a cantilever at 45 degrees actuator and a small cap with what looks like a small breather pipe coming off it. Does anyone know which type of brake fluid I should use to fill them. Also, I will need adaptor plates to go between the calipers and the front hubs, any ideas, I was resigned to the fact that I will probebly have to make my own of these.
  7. Just looked in the pit box, nearest Iv'e got is Mugen 3000 wt diff oil, will give that a try for starters.
  8. Nice one, thanks. I'll give that a try, didn't even know where to start.
  9. Rebuilding my FG Baja 4wd and want to re-oil the the shocks. Any advise on what oil weight to use. Will just be bashing, with blue springs on rear, and purple on the fronts. Cheers.
  10. Does anyone know what length the ball drive shaft length should be if you convert an FG Baja 2wd from dog bones to ball drive shafts. I have done this and fitted 96.5mm ball drive shafts and seem to be having no end of problems. Firstly, I split a drive cup which Daz C kindly replaced for me. Then I took it out this afternoon and one of the balls managed to pop out of one of the drive shafts, again resulting in loss of drive. The end of the shaft is now worn,, so a new pair is now required, so do I go for the 96.5mm again or go for 100mm?
  11. Sussed it, it is the same as the FG version inside. Got it appart and the adjusting shaft has a groove in the middle that a small circlip fits over, thus pressing on thrust bearing that tightens the diff. The click that I thought was the hex drive slipping on the adjusting grub screw was the circlip popping out of its groove. Straightened and refitted, works a treat now.
  12. Cheers Daz, let me know how much for a couple of them and I'll send the cash.
  13. Anyone know where I'll find a manual, or will the internals be the same as FG Adjustable diff.
  14. Nice one, thats it. I'll see if I can find a manual for it, cheers.
  15. Does anyone know which diff model this is. Bought off ebay, description says it was FG LSD diff, but looking at FG down loads, doesn't look like one. Don't seem to be able to adjust it. Tried screwing one grub screw in and the other out. It went a bit tighter, then tried to tighten a bit more and the hex driver clicked as if I had rounded it, then it went slack again. Heres the ebay link http://cgi.ebay.co.u...e=STRK:MEWNX:IT Any advice greatly received.
