  1. This is my car. It's an 1/8th scale & in the booklet, the measurements read:- wheelbase. 330mm, width. 300mm
  2. Once my new engines in & running, I'd like to put a new shell on. I've been looking around & am a bit confused regards the sizes. Most of them mention 190mm or 200mm. What size should I be looking for, for 1/8th scale & will any make fit. Cheers.

    2nd Gear

Have searched the net, but them being based in Taiwan, don't look like I can lay my hands on a manual for it. No web address either. Must say, that's one thing it lacks. An operating manual would be very useful.

    2nd Gear

Would the manufacturer be the engine manufacturer ( Force), or the car manufacturer (Sinyih)?
  5. Has anyone else experienced problems getting the 2nd gear to work? Since I've had the car, it's never engaged. I've fiddled about with the adjuster, but it doesn't seem to make any difference. At first I thought it may be spinning the wrong way, but I've checked that & all seems correct, as I've just dismantled it all & put it back together. What I've done now, is tighten the screw right in, in order to loosen it slowly until it kicks in. Am I doing the right thing? Unfortunately, I won't be able to test it properly, until my new engine arrives in a couple of weeks. Any suggestions gratefully recieved.
  6. Well, I've managed to source a replacement engine. Just won this off e-bay. Not a bad price & the engine seems good. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1
  7. Little update. As a learning curve to myself, I've managed to remove the piston & sleeve. The piston has a couple of score lines going from top to bottom, which, I presume, shouldn't be there. If I persevere with this engine, two things. 1. Does a new piston/sleeve set come with the conrod, as I've found the right set below. http://www.jespares.com/catalog/product_in...roducts_id=2810 2. I've removed the pin holding the piston to the conrod. How is the pin normally held in. Someone mentioned a g-clip, but mine must've previously broke off. Is there a pic I can see.
  8. Hmm. You may be right. Aprt from the missing idle screw, the only other problem I can see, is that occassionally when I yank the pull start, the pin that holds the piston to the conrod, moves out & prevents the piston moving. I can see it doing it through the inlet where the manifold fits over. If I push the pin back into place, it turns ok.
  9. It would seem then, that if I'm unable to buy an idle screw, I'm up the proverbial stream without a paddle. Surely that's not the end of the engine then?
  10. Thanks for all this help. Really appreciate it. Having watched the tuning videos, I'm now getting my head round it. I managed to strip the engine & all seems ok. I think a replacement pull start is in order & new glow plugs, but first I need to source a new idle screw. I've looked on various sites, but can't find one. Can any one suggest somewhere.
  11. Being a newbie, I've just watched the videos & they've helped me immensely understand the workings. Well done.
  12. Well, I put everything back together & followed as best I can, all your suggestions, but still no joy. Although the pull start jams open on occasion, I think the engine is turning over ok. I'd like to strip the engine right down, but don't believe this one comes apart completely. A couple of queries. 1. I sheared off the screw (No.3 in the diagram) some while back. I've put a temporary screw back in, but it hasn't got the pointed bit on it( sorry, hope I'm making myself understood). I would believe, this alters the carb position. Would this make a difference? 2. Could you tell me by way of the diagram, which screw does what, as I think some adjustments may be required. Fuel is getting into the engine, although there is no strong smell of fuel,.so I can't see that as the problem. I must admit, I probably need new glow plugs, although they are heating up ok in the starter. When I try & start it, it doesn't even attempt to fire. I have the carb fully open when attempting to start it, but have tried it in various positions, but the result is the same.
  13. Can someone jog my ageing memory as well, regards the fuel pipes & where to connect them. They've been off so long I've forgotten. Bottom of fuel tank - To where? Top of fuel tank - To where The 2 connections are to carb & exhaust. Thanks.
  14. Found this while I was searching. Looks to be the same engine http://www.jespares.com/catalog/product_in...roducts_id=1736
  15. Right. The engines out, as is the glow plug. I've turned the flywheel by hand & it is turning quite freely. I can see the piston & that's moving ok. I've sprayed a bit of oil into the top of the piston & also the carb & I'm letting it soak in for a while. If my memory serves me well, I had a problem with the carb slide. It wouldn't start for some reason b/4 & I wanted to check the jets. I undid the screw at the side, so I could remove the slider, but so I wouldn't lose the screw, I put it back losely, while I was checking everything. Unfortunately though, when I put the slider back, I forgot to remove the screw again & sheared it off. However a mate of mine ( who's now left the island) made another one & fitted it. I wonder if this is causing a mixture problem, which prevents it from starting, or as you say, the pull start may be faulty. Think you need to be careful removing that, if my memory is correct.
  16. OK. Well, I've been having a little play with it. Actually, I've been turning it over slowly ( with glow plug in, but without fuel & starter) & it seems to be turning over ok. I know there's no fuel in the block, 'cos I drained it when I stored it away. The pull start jams out occasionally, but that might just be the pulley hopefully. Unfortunately, I've mislaid a couple of the fuel lines, but I'll try & get a length of it. How do I get the head off, as I think I tried that b/4 & couldn't budge it. At least if I strip that down, if I don't know what I'm looking for, I can post pics up.
  17. Well guys. What's taken me 3 years to discover, has taken you lot 5 minutes. Wish I'd discovered this site b/4. As mentioned, I'm unable to get parts for it here, so, sadly it's been sitting, collecting dust for 3 years, but I really miss using it, so want to get it up & running again. The engine is the main problem, so if that's solved, it'll be a good start. Where would be the best place to enquire about a replacement engine' For the record, I've just dug out the original box the car came in & the make is "Sinyih". Do you know of a spares place for them, as I'm sure I'm gonna need more bits. I've said that I believe the engine has seized, but that's only a quess. If I remember correctly, when I attempt to pull start it, it just seizes. I've got the bug again, so I'm gonna strip it to-day, clean it, give it some TLC & attempt to start it again & see what happens, or at least get a better idea of the symptoms. Thanks again for your help & I'll keep you posted. Any help is much appreciated.
  18. Yeah, it says FC 3.5 on the block, but what is the make. Sorry to be a bit vague. I've had the car about 5 years, but it's been off the road for 3 years, due to not being able to buy spares where I live ( Canary Islands). Here's a couple more pics.
  19. Hi there from a newbie. Can anyone identify this engine of mine. I believe it's seized & I want to replace it, but don't know the make. I have more pics if needed. Cheers.
