  1. Ive managed to sort the spring in my pull start but my string is heavy with oil and gunk so I've bought a couple of metres from eBay. My question is how does it attach to the 'T' bar handle? It looks as though it goes up towards the 'T' and loops under it but how do I get at it? Cheers Supes
  2. The original one is dead dead dead and I need to get a replacement asap. Will all steering servos fit, by that I mean will they all have the same connector for the standard Hobao electrics? I know to upgrade to a high power metal gear servo but I don't want it to turn up with a weird fitting on the end Cheers Superkav
  3. For your budget, get a Hyper 7 and take it apart before you play with it. The manual offers computer generated expolded views in full perspective of each and every component and how they fit to the chassis or against other components. I've done the same with mine albeit through necessity after crashing it but the end result is the same. You familiarise yourself with each part and understand it's job as part of the whole package.
  4. If it's muddy I let it dry off somewhere warm then pick off the big bits and brush the smaller bits with a toothbrush and a dustpan brush. Then I get a hair dryer and blow all the dusty crap away which leaves it clean as a whistle. For grease, ie, fule spills, a kitchen sponge and washing up liquid rule!
  5. Cheers guys Yeah I checked the paperwork too but didn't fancy paying for a pullstart I don't need. Ordered a set from ebay but in the meantime I'll 'borrow' a screw from my boy's Hyper and make sure his are tight and threadlocked.
  6. I'm stony broke so need a short term fix until payday
  7. Took my Hyper out today and apart from losing my glowstart I noticed that 3 of the 4 screws have shaken themselves out of the pullstart. Need these urgently as going bashing this weekend. Anybody got a part number? I'm desperate!
  8. You could use a reverse thread self tapping screw, it will drive in the 'wrong' way and as it tightens it'll undo the threaded shaft thats stuck in there. Your Dad should be able to put his hand on one of them as he's a tool maker.
  9. Heat it up with a hair dryer and try a Dremel with a long thin drill bit for metal. It might get fiddly but you should be able to drill out enough of the ball to get it out with long nose pliers. If it's truly stuck for good, add a cutting tool to the said Dremel and slice off the cooling head so you can get a grip on the screw with the pliers. Then buy a new head and a new screw and for Gods sake keep any shavings out of the engine. if thats too drastic maybe your LHS could help remove it with some of their wonder tools and experience.
  10. I have Hyper 21 4port (Green) and Hyper 21 3port (black) Although the flywheels are identical (as far as I know) the Black is quicker at mid and top end and feels as if it has more torque than the Green. I know this is purely luck of the draw with engines but my Black had, and still has, the tightest pinch and great compression. My green was loose right out of the box, which may have something to do with the performance. Go Black, cheap as chips, loads of spares/upgrades and tough as old boots
  11. I'm a pure basher but with age I'm becoming a bit more technically minded and wondered, 'why are there spider gears in the diffs?' Is it a traction thing and if so, as a basher , am i bashing on the wrong surface? I'm driving both Hypers on grass 90% of the time which is listed as 'high traction' I know this depends on the tyre but I find short mown grass (1-2") to be moderate compared with tarmac. Should I be paying more attention to my diffs??
  12. Winter is coming which means ICE !! I've just picked up a set of tyres and wheels and plan on screwing some little screws through a thin sheet of plastic and the foam insert to hopefully stop them shredding the rubber. Should look cool and grip like hell for when the round is rock solid and slippery! Will post a pic once I'm done as I think the ice might be a few months away Anyone ever done this before??
  13. Are they available anywhere? When I had my T-Maxx there were loads of aluminium wheel options around...or is it just something for Trucks'n'Truggies?
  14. I've broken a couple of the teeth in my steering servo which meant no turning left for a while I took it apart and turned the broken cogs around for a short term fix. My question is............. Can I get new metal gears or is it cheaper in the long run to buy a metal geared servo. I'm guessing it will come with a more powerful motor.
