  1. welcome to the forum. There are a lot of 4wd monsters to choose from. Personally i like traxxas stuff but that doesnt mean they would be best suited for you. Have a read of the various threads to get an overview of good and bad points for them all. My favourite is not strictly a monster truck as its the e-revo. I like the look of the nitro revo and tmaxx as monster trucks (and own both) but just prefer electric RC's. Biggest factor is going to be the sort of ground/area you will mainly run in, to get something to best suit. Carlton
  2. Am looking for ezstart system for tmaxx or revo or jato. main thing i need is the bit with the motor that attaches to the engine, wiring with it would be nice, the starter wand with it would be a right bonus. Not wanting to pay too much and will be at the bank holiday bashfest in couple of weeks so could take delivery there to save postage costs. thanks Carlton
  3. just reading current instructions and they not mention failsafe so can only assume it was something that appeared for a while way back when but has been removed again for some reason. Much confusion of my old brain. lol will be interested to know definitively whats what.
  4. the later traxxas 3.3 optidrive is supposed to have propper failsafe built in that puts 25% brake when signal faliure is detected. the optidrive will have the word 'SET' printed in black as opposed to white on the old ones without the fail safe. Though the 2006 thread i found had someone maintaining it didnt have it. needs everything to be set right and after any rx,tx changes or calibrations or adjustments the optidrive should then be reset/recalibrated. unfortunately my revo 3.3 has the old optidrive with the white printing so i cant test it out.
  5. have it adjusted so in neutral you have part brakes with a bit of slack on the throttle control coller so you have to apply some throttle on the handset before it starts to rev the engine. that way failsafe will inclused a degree of braking.
  6. back shocks are right way front wrong way, you want the shock body end fastened to the chassis mount so the shock itself is not moving back and forward.
  7. was wondering about 2pole and 4pole but it does it on 3 different 2 pole motors. i dont have a 4pole to try out. Have had it on various settings, that vid was with 0% on the timing and is same on default 15%. Have tried it high and low punch but it just seems the same. will see if anyone has a spare 4 pole to try out at the bank holiday bashfest next month assuming it hasnt gone up in smoke before then.
  8. http://youtu.be/UqvD3QoX-SQ its just at start up really, once its moving it seems to go ok. have tried it on 3 motors and its the same for all of them. Have messaged the seller bit im guessing he will just say send it off to hobbywing for warrantee repair.
  9. i hope not, although its new it would have to back to hobbywing direct and i cant afford another esc at this time.
  10. yeah i have read loads of threads about cogging but am still none the wiser. lol. have seen some mention of timing having some effect depending which threads you read. also gearing down is mentioned a lot but since the gearing hasn't changed and it was fine with the original esc im note sure.
  11. I have replaced the vxl esc on my slash 4x4 with a new EZrun SC8, nothing else has changed (same motor, gearing, battery) and it is cogging really badly at start up. I have the hobbywing advanced program card so can get at the settings but need to know which ones to adjust and which way to go. Im thinking its the esc cos i tried another motor and that cogged too. Not sure if the new esc will be trying to take more current than the traxxas one from the batteries so could it be i need better batteries for this esc. just tried with a 65-130 discharge battery and it still cogging so doubt it that.

was 4 days after order placed before it came up as backorder and i didnt notice it for another 6 days. lol. Would have prefered an email asking if i wanted to cancel or wait, but they sent nothing.

  14. gone for the new tmart one so this can be closed thanks for the help
  15. may be consider an old mobility scooter as a doner for the motor speed controller gears etc and figure a way to add the remote override. lol snap
  16. @ RCbutcher i run the 150a one in my e-revo and yes its huge. lol. The thing with lvc auto detect is same on the 150 so i am used to manually setting it. I would prefere new but thought i would see if anyone had one kicking around cheap. @ mydoddy69 thats a great price for a new one. does it come in proper box with all the fixtures and fittings like the base plate and the switch rubber cover etc.
  17. as title looking at new ones on the bay but thought id see if anyone on here had one a bit cheaper, thanks Carlton
  18. wasnt aware the bullet came with a center diff, though mine was the flux version it just had a slipper clutch. HPI web site also shows just slipper clutch with no center diff for the nitro one.
  19. got me beat then. If it was the oil in the diff that would just allow one of the fronts to spin when the other is getting traction but the rear wheels would still be driving forward so you would still get traction on the rear. Mine was the stadium truck version and that wheelied like it was going out of fashion so maybe its just that the front wheels are being lifted on acceleration so there is no resistsnce from the ground? if its driving all 4 wheels as it should im struggling to visualise what you are describing as happening.
  20. just another thought, one of the rear dog-bones could have snapped or popped out as that would also appear as no drive to the rear, and the bullet did tend to throw a dog-bone out pretty regularly.
  21. sounds like the drive to the rear wheels has gone otherwise all wheels would be spinning. I had the rear drive shaft snap on mine when i had one and it did what you are describing as it was effectively front wheel drive only. put the car on the ground switched off front against a wall so it cant move forward, lift the back wheels off the ground but keep the front on the ground and try to turn both rear wheels as if trying to make the car go forwads; if they can turn freely without trying to turn the front wheels then its the drive shaft to the rear diff thats gone. unless you are saying the wheel rims are spinning but the tyres are staying still which i doubt.
  22. if the one way is wrong way it wont drive so if you have that the wrong way and the engine is turning then the ezstart def running backwards lol
  23. Hi traxxax carbs only have low and high needles the mid range is factory set and doesnt need adjusting. if fuel spitting out carb im thinking rotating engine wrong way check on the ezrun motor for a little red dot near one the terminals and that would be the positive. im not 100% but i believe the engine should be turning clockwise viewed from the rear so anti clockwise from the front. If it is doing that and spitting out the fuel you might need to do a full strip down and clean up looking for some form of blockage or the sleeve not in the right way causing a blockage (though it shouldnt be possible to do that)
