as Hatzy said, it doesn't matter where the money comes from. Someone has to pay for the use of Paypals service. Sending as a gift, you pay the charge and have no come back on the seller. Send it normally and the seller pays the fees and you do have protection with Paypal.

I've had offline fraud before and HSBC were hot on the case then aswell, very pleased with them.

In my case they spent 80 dollars with facebook to check it was working then went for the big sales 2 days later. Thankfully my paypal account had limits so them trying to make a huge payment frooze my account. Paypal kept on trying to put the payment back through though, useless!

long story but someone hacked my email, facebook, ebay and paypal and tried to spend £700. 80 quid on facebook poker with Zynga games and 620 on a iphone 4 on ebay. all passwords had been changed and filters and diverts setup on my email.

Yer cancelling the link is the first thing I did, although maybe i should of spoken to the bank more.

I kid you not, $125 and £619 has tried to go out. thankfully the $125 hadn't reached my account yet, so I have cancelled the direct debit link from my bank to paypal, and the other large payment was too large for my paypal account so got automatically cancelled.

I work somewhere where they take ages to sake anyone useless. But the law protects the employee so much it takes so many careful steps to sake anyone so you don't get sued!
