  1. Some people may of seen my recent thread asking which truggy/MT to get me back into the hobby after a 6 year break. So after some help I settled on the MTA4 S50, on Tuesday I was finally able to order it from MSUK and it arrived today! Managed to squeeze in about 30mins of break in time but I'll have more time with it tomorrow. For now here's a few pics. On first run I thought it had the turning circle of the moon only to find out after reading the instructions I had limited the steering servo by an adjustment on the radio, I've since sorted this so hopefully on run tomorrow my turning circle will me greatly reduced. I've also setup the max/min throttle linkage properly now. It's take a couple of hours tonight to setup the toe in/out and chamber so it all looks even now. 1 question though, how tight should the tight grub screws be inside the bug carriers that tighten up the ball joints. I've done them up tight then slackened them off slightly for free movement in the joint. Starting the engine was sooooo easy, I'm well chuffed with it. And using reverse on a nitro is so weird lol. Can't wait to give it some beans!
  2. Whoooop!!! Got here in the end at 3-30, so by the time I'd got some charge in the bits and bobs and put the last bits together and checked some screws I left the house at 4-30. Started really easily and kept running fine, reverse gear is great, so weird using reverse on a nitro. The turning circle is the moon at the moment but I think thats down to an adjustment dial on the tranny. The fuel tank is 150cc and in the 30mins I had to play before I had to pick up my fiance I used 2 tanks! The 1 litre of fuel I got in Modelsports combo pack won't last long It's certainly drinking the fuel at the moment as it is running quite rich, very smokey exhuast, and quite spitty. Real play time is tomorrow though, going to have to go and buy some more fuel though. I'll post up a new thread with some piccys soon.
  3. Yer I know the run in procedure, several tanks before giving it some beans! Haha yer good tip with the tightening of screws. My brother recently got an Ansman Vapour and in the first few proper runs after running it in it was dropping screws, bolts and grub screws from all over! 7-43 : Onto delivery van scan:D
  4. Call me fussy but I don't want 2nd hand to get me back into the hobby, could end up being a string of problems. I want shop warranty etc etc
  5. Whoop whoop!!! Just ordered my sledgehammer! Total was 405 with a spare glowplug and a failsafe too. Can't wait!
  6. Darn, I don't tend to go to Lakeside unless AMD have my full scale car in for the day.
  7. Wow that looks like a beast! My mate used to toy with his dads old RC which looked like something built with mechano. Bit OT but where about in Essex are you?
  8. Nah I was thinking of just a switch onboard too, I suppose it would drain the main batteries pretty quick, althogh mounting a small battery pack for it wouldn't be too hard. It is fairly pointless, I'm thinking along the lines of less things to carry about, as I'm just bashing not racing.
  9. I'm just wondering if anyone has diy fitted a onboard glowstarter from another cars remote starter system? I was thinking of nicking the Traxxaz EX start or Losi ROSS wiring loom for the glowstarter so all I have to do is flick a switch to ignite the glowstart then give the engine a zap with the roto start. Then simply turn off the switch once the car is running and warmed up. I though this would be pretty useful while tuning, warming up and running in rather than driving round with a glowstarter.
  10. yep 450 odd is just a touch over budget! I'll be going for the sledgehammer which works out at
  11. I e-mailed ModelSport the other night and got a prompt reply the morning after saying there guestimate for the tank size is 150cc and they agreed with my thought that the sledgehammer is a better buy for the money other the Manic. Looks like I have a decision! Thanks all, you've all been very helpful. I was worried I'd get the usual response for newbies of "use the search function this has been covered millions of times" or the simple "google it" Top blokes
  12. Sounds good! Also does anyone know just how big the fuel tank is? Everywhere says it's big but thats all lol!
  13. I think the Losi Aftershock is out of the running as it's got a small engine compared to the others, the Manic with 6cc and the sledgehammer with 8cc. After reading through the sledgehammer you really do get ALOT for your money!, twin speed, reverse gear, 8 huge shocks, 2.4ghz radio and a massive engine, even bigger than the manic twin. Has anyone run one of these? Hows the engine for tuning?
  14. I'm sure the hyper and hong nor are great truggies but I think I need a MT to satisfy my needs, I managed to bend the chassis and driveshaft on a fairly small jump on my bros vapour. So the Trophy is out of the question, the other 3 are still great contenders for winning my affection lol. I think the sledgehammer might have the lead as it's got more power than the manic, huge shock system, 2 speed metal gears and generally looks the part! I'll have to look through them on my day off when I can check out the pictures properly, just posting from my phone at the moment. Thanks again.
  15. Thanks for all the suggestions, there's a few more to look into now. I had considered the HPI Trophy 4.6 but for
  16. So 5 years ago I had the classic HPI Nitro MT which i spent loads on with ally parts, upgraded HD diffs and .21 conversion. I moved on that that and had all the electrics ready to go for the newly released FG monster truck but unfortunately I had to withdraw my deposit and sell up. Now I'm ready to get back into the hobby but I'm finding what used to be a powerful engine is now pathetic and radio gears are changing so much! I was looking at the new Losi Ten-T but the ross starting system is putting me off and the kits another 85 quid because of a fancy radio system I won't be able to take full advantage of as I just want to tear up some fields! The new Schumacher Manic is very appealing to me, parts look very strong and well built and the engine sounds like great fun, the only down side I can see is having to use 2 glow starters. So for
