  1. to get back to the op's question .............................. Why not go for a 250 size quad that not only is great to fly line of sight but can also be used with a small fpv camera.... you can pick up a decent enough starter kit from aliexpress for under 90 dollars and you will need a radio control to go with it . Heres a link to the 250 carbon fiber quad allmost ready to fly (needs radio gear) http://www.aliexpress.com/item/RC-Carbon-Fiber-Mini-250-C250-Quadcopter-brushless-emax-Motor-12A-Esc-Flight-Control-with-5030/32276405526.html And its a lot stronger and robust than you would think !!! i have this frame with other gear and ive planted it a few times with just broken props lol. These little fella's really are fun to fly and you can even fly them indoors if you have enough room. radio gear like a turnigy from hobbyking is about 50 pounds http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__8992__Turnigy_9X_9Ch_Transmitter_w_Module_8ch_Receiver_Mode_2_v2_Firmware_.html Dont be fooled by the price its a very renownd radio, i started and used mine for 2 years without a worry.
  2. Heres a list of whats on my racer (i use the term loosely !!! i dont race i wander !!) Frame can be had at many places such as bangood just look up 250 quad frame ( i wont put a link up as its hit and miss getting real carbon fiber frames and i dont whant anyone saying the link i put up got them a non CF Frame ) esc :http://www.aliexpress.com/item/4Pcs-Simonk-RC-Firmware-10AMP-10A-Brushless-ESC-w-3A-5V-BEC-For-RC-Multicopter-Qudcopter/2030558890.html power distribution board : http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Power-Battery-ESC-Connection-Board-Distribution-For-RC-Multirotor-Quadcopter-Helicopter-Aircraft-Part-Free-Shipping/1925212586.html motors dys 1806: http://www.banggood.com/DYS-BE1806-2300KV-Brushless-Motor-2-3S-For-Mini-Multicopters-p-933192.html fpv cam : http://www.aliexpress.com/item/FPV-700TVL-Sony-Super-HAD-II-CCD-WDR-Board-Camera-OSD-Control-Panel-3-6mm-lens/1782283823.html video tx and rx :http://www.aliexpress.com/item/100-original-Boscam-5-8Ghz-200mW-8-Channel-FPV-Audio-Video-Transmitter-Receiver-TS351-RC305-For/932779312.html
  3. i just saw a yeti take a dump in the garden ................................................what ? if others are putting bull up so am i lol

      Saabmania2

I want some of the Yeti Poo then please

  4. CF tricopter 1.3 kg auw with 4000mah 4s lipo and 630kv motors ..................= tons of lift and long flights

    1. Vr5fx

      Vr5fx

I was thinking of doing 4s with 900kv on my tricopter. For science. :)

    2. baorevo

      baorevo

i had 950 kv's on at first.... not good enough but maybe on 4s ? i was on 3s

    3. Vr5fx

      Vr5fx

Mine is on 3s at the moment and doesn't have a great deal of lift. Flips well though.

  5. speant the afternoon fixing a friends hexa and at the near end of the day managed to put the 40a esc's and the rcx 3608 630kv pancake motors on the tri and get a flight in im no longer under powered lol....
  6. special MSUK Flight http://youtu.be/Mj3ydtMXPRk

      -BEZ-

reminds me of batterys not included ... very funky :)

  7. As promised a night flight MSUK https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mj3ydtMXPRk&feature=youtu.be
  8. The night flyer got a led display that i also powered by arduino https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RqwdTSWKfN0&feature=youtu.be Sorry its in french !!! i will do an MSUK flight tomorrow
  9. after 2 days building and a dud moter later and of course the total lack of info for tri's using pixhawk (for info you have to go to advanced params r-4 needs to be changed from 1 to -1 , this reverses the pixhawks yaw so you must reverse the radios yaw too, the tri will just spin around otherwise)...... IT FLIES a little under powered motor wise but i have some RCX BE3608-11 630KV motors on the way
  10. i wouldnt run a 2200 on that frame , im testing out the zippy compact 4000mah (283gr) on the pixhawk alien frame and getting good results.
  11. 9x4.7 may be a little small for a 500 size frame , i have an alien 500 with sunnysky 2212 and 10x4.5 is ideal for the power to weight ratio and also it will give you the lift nececary in case you need to pul out of a hairy situation, the problem with the 9x4.7 ' i have graupners that size is once you put a cam and a couple of bits on an alien frame the weight is too much and as you ease of the throttle to come down you have to punch it to level out .
  12. lol i saw the option bulldog dissapear and the vision appear !!!!!! get it led'ed
  13. its not so bad as there are a lot of examples around so you can learn the one i use is half mine half an example, im not so good yet but the more you mess with arduino the more you learn.
  14. So i decided a while back i wanted a night flyer and spent a while reading up what would be the best leds to use , so i came accross adressable rgb leds... then i had to get into arduino's and their pro mini arduinos to program and run the led sequences from so a lot of reading and gathering info later the quad is finished and lighting up the night lol .................... http://youtu.be/l5juVJzXO4M As for being visible well as you can see lol i added 3 white leds on the chassis between the rear arms for orientation ....
  15. Now im a sunnysky fan but there are a lot of knock offs going around and ive been stung twice (GRRRRrrrr) so i was willing to try something else ..... Ive bought a few things from myrcmart and have stuck with them since they waranteed a telemetry unit for me . Recently they came out with a new motor of their own design http://www.myrcmart.com/rcx-h2214-950kv-for-dji-phantomf450f550-brushless-motor-cw-clockwise-preorder-p-8034.html i jumped on them as a replacement for my sunnysky's .... well i was not dissapointed even if they come with 8mm dji prop adapters ( i contacted them and they are getting 6mm prop adapters done). ive put a set through its paces and dissmantled one to see if they where effectivly balanced and they where... the windings are so tidy !!!!!!!! obviousely i ordered some more as they are so cheap at the moment !!!!!
  16. One isnt mine .....do i still have too many lol
  17. The only soldering in fact is putting the header pins on the arduino pro mini and you need a fine tip ..................... the programming is not for the faint hearted but there are a lot of examples lying around on the net.. all you need is a breadboard (sort of cuircuit board that uses push in pins instead of soldering) for cuircuit testing dupont cables an arduino pro mini or an arduino pro or both and programmable rgb leds ..................make sure they are addresable its quite fun to do
  18. With the price of adressable rgb leds becoming less expensive we can really go to town on our mult'is an example of price http://www.aliexpress.com/item/1M-60-LEDs-Pixels-DC5V-WS2812B-WS2811-WS2812-Individually-Addressable-SMD-5050-RGB-LED-Strip-Light/2044959970.html to create programs you need an arduino mini pro and an ftdi adapteur and some soldering skills and the arduino program arduino pro mini 5 for 11 dollars http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free-Shipping-new-version-5pcs-lot-QFN-Pro-Mini-328-Mini-ATMEGA328-ATMEGA328P-MU-3-3V/2020619250.html FTDI adapteur 6 dollars http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Freeship-FTDI-Basic-Breakout-Arduino-USB-TTL-ASP-6-PIN-3-3-5V-for-MWC-MultiWii/1766722461.html the pro mini fits easily in any multi even in 250 racers Im new to arduino but i managed this so far with code readilly available.........its not so easy seeing the effects on cam the leds are so bright and this is with an 8 led strip from adafruit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oiSsMD2U4Ss
  19. If your powering it from an esc you are fine as the esc has a bec Herse a handy pdf (operating voltage according is 5v) http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uploads/998673411X846863X42.pdf
  20. Accro is a mode without auto stabilizing so its a lot harder to control but in this mode you can do flips and so on
  21. I would stick with the aio pro , its not that the kk2 isnt easy it is in fact very easy to set up but once its setup you can only fly in accro ar stable mode and there is no way of even adding something like a gps or other addon. So what would eventually happen is you will want something more complete and go back to the crius ... can you see where im going .. it may seem a little daunting setting up a more complete flight controller but places like youtube and rc groupes are very helpfull.
  22. Bear in mind when you upgrade the v2 status leds are slightly different so look those up on google and the take off procedure changes.....you must be at at least 50% gaz beforeit will spool up then it will take off a couple of meters and stabilize....
