  1. Yeah, I thought it was weird there was nothing keeping the pinion on. My pinion came off, I consulted the manual and there's no grub screw, so I just pushed the pinion back onto the shaft and its been fine since.
  2. I've never tried pinkbike so can't comment. I've always thought STW has been ok, but never really sold much on there. Tempted by the saint m810, but I've just upgraded my hope m4s with bigger rotors and new pads so gonna pass for now. Just need to get out and do more DH!!
  3. Hi, have you tried on singletrack world?? Sadly I found fleabay was the best bet for bike bits, particularly if you are gonna break her up.
  4. Ken block micro RS4 and some cheapo toy rc cars for the kids.
  5. Hi All, Im going to get the kids (age 3 and 4.5) a Losi Micro T each. While I was looking, I thought it would be fun to get a 1/18 that I can run indoors / outdoors with the kids. Ive narrowed it down to a Maverick ION (buggy or SC) or to wait for the HPI micro RS4 Ken Block. Im tempted to wait for the RS4 cos its sick. . . . Out of those, which would you choose and why??
  6. Yeah I don't think there's much of a cure for traction issues. Id imagine its like having a 600bhp RWD motor with no traction control!! Hostile slicks are on the way. I may cut some grooves in them and see how that goes. Off topic, but does anyone use the battery box that comes with the 5b flux?? I've ordered one cheap from the states and want to see if its easier with it or just stick to lots of foam and batteries in the chassis.
  7. Right. Quick update on this. Cap pack has definately done the trick, no more cogging. With either the zippy 8000mah 30c packs or nanotech 5000mah 65c packs. Turnigy 7.5a uBEC also installed, plugged into the Rx. Interestingly, I first removed the on/off switch for the uBEC, and it didn't work. Re-soldered the switch back on, and it works fine???!!!! Any reason for that anyone?? Running 16t pinion, and temps were nice and low. Less than 40 for both esc and motor. Will get the log data soon and have a look at that. 5000mah doesn't last very long. I'm going to get some more packs when funds allow and run 7s in parallel so 2 x (3s + 4s). Has anyone tries that?? And finally, I just need to find some rear tyres that will grip on Tarmac!! Thankyou all sooo much for all your valuable input. If it wasn't for this forum, I would have flogged the sodding thing. Instead, I have learned loads, am loving the badger as well as my other cars and am thinking about my next project . . . .
  8. Sorry for hijacking, but are the awc shells any good? Although they are strong, I don't know how good fibreglass would be at absorbing impacts?
  9. What a miracle!! Just checked it and its all working!!! Noj, I thought I'd try one of my "weak" nanotech 2s packs in the savage. After a few cycles the weak cell perked up. Funnily enough, after landing in the river, it seems to have perked up even more!!
  10. What a numpty. Went out tonight and managed to land my savage into the river!!. I got it out as soon as I could (about 5 minutes) and have wet muddy feet, nettle rash and a very sorry looking savage. Other than drying everything as well as possible and relubing, and hoping for the best, is there anything else I should do?? Specifically for the lipos??
  11. Thanks, that's pretty much what I thought. Just one question, you say to repair the loose tab thing you need a soldering gun. I'm assuming that that is what I will be doing - cutting the tabs that join the cells, binning the dodgy cell and re soldering the tabs between the 2 good cells?? Will a soldering iron not work? Noj, if I haven't come good with a soldering iron by now, there's no hope!!
  12. Just a thought. How easy would it be to separate the good and bad cells from 2s packs, and join the 2 good cells together?
  13. Absolutely. Or what I'm hoping is that they've had a bad batch, and in time it will be replenished with another batch that will be ok. Gonna try in a few months time. Also it strikes me that 65-130c discharge is a very high discharge rate, probably on the edge of what is possible from lipos?? In my experience with stuff, the more you push something, the more unreliable it becomes. It's just unfortunate that we need this performance to power our setups.
  14. Sadly there aren't that many companies manufacturing high capacity / high discharge packs. Its not so easy to go elsewhere hence HK have us by the balls. I started a thread on this recently. I've never had a problem with any other nanotechs, I've also bought 2 x 3s 5000 mah 65c and a 4s 5000mah 65c which have been fine. (Although I haven't used them yet, I bought them for the badger but the park is still waterlogged and now that its working properly I don't want to drown it in a puddle!!) I'm gutted that the 2s ones have all been dodgy, cos I really wanted to pair it to a 3s to run my savage on 5s. Hey ho.
  15. Why does cillit bang always make me chuckle??!!! Cheers guys, will give brake cleaner a go.
  16. Have you looked at Alan Woodall crafts? AWC or grpcraftsman on eBay. Dunno if they're any good, but for the price I'm tempted to try one for my 5sc.
  17. As it says. What do you guys use to clean out thick diff oil?? On some of the American forums it says wd40, but I don't really want to contaminate the new oil with wd40. I've tried soap and water, citrus degreaser, isopropyl alcohol and baby wipes. Ironically I found baby wipes and elbow grease the best, but was just wondering if anything else will work before I resort to jayes fluid!!!
  18. Hi all. I've had a few problems with the nanotech 2s 5000mah 65-130c packs. The first 2 packs had under voltage cells on arrival, cell 1 on the first pack was 2.2v and cell 1 on the 2nd pack was 2.7v. I reported this to HK and got one pack replaced and the other one credited. I also bought a 3rd pack. Of the replacement pack, the cells were 3.7v and 3.3v. The final pack I bought had cells at 3.9v and 3.7v. However, on charging them the weaker cells just will not come up to 4.2v, no matter how long I balance charge them. I have also cycled the packs twice each and still the same. On the plus side, the packs are not getting hot or swelling. Would you say it was safe to use these packs? Is there anything I can do to try and restore balance?? Also, of the first two packs with dead cells, is it worth trying to charge these? Or shall I just bin em . . .
  19. If its any help, my cogging issues went after I installed a cap pack on my xl2. Having said that, my esc could have been dodgy, and when it blew I got a replacement and soldered the cap pack on straight away, so I can't be sure. But I did get a recommendation to do this from the uk castle creations distributor.
  20. Yeah I have. Looks like cutting slicks is going to be the only option. I wanted something like the Tarmac busters you can get for the 5b. Any idea how thick the rubber is on these?? Last thing I want is to ruin a perfectly good tyre!!
  21. I've had quite a few lipos from hobbyking, and this is the first time I've had any problems.
