Then I got a pair of the Nanda Racing short course blocks which I think are great for the money.
As you can see I was running the Firestorm rear shocks and the Toro 8XP 2320kv motor with the Wp Sc8 Esc. I also broke the original battery post that the clip went through so I drilled a hole through the chassis and went for a nut and bolt no way thats coming out.
I then treated the Slash to a few other new bits:
The originals didnt break but the centre shaft had bent and the rear bearing carriers and a arms were very worn and had a lot of play in them.
I fitted the centre shaft, rear bearing carriers and a pair of a arms to the rear and still have the other pair as spares:
Having a well derserved strip and clean:
I then got given some old shells of my mate:
I have since then took all the stickers off them and cleaned them up to give them a new lease of life.
Now the Slash for atleast the last couple of years has been getting bashed hard mainly on a gravel bmx track atleast once a week no matter what the weather a true basher .
It has held up really well considering it has seen alot of air time, bad landings, crashes you name it its seen it water, rain, snow, streams, rivers etc.
Yes I have broke parts and parts have worn out ie alot of slop/play in them.
Of the top of my head things that broke:
Shock shafts bent even the upgraded ones (Now using Team Durango big bore shocks)
Shock caps broke
Caster block
Spurs
A load of bearings
Centre shaft bent (This was down to chassis flex on the big landings, so with my diy braces from the rear shock tower to the front this problem was sorted)
Driveshaft
Bumper (Broke but still usable)
There probably is a couple of other bits but to be fair most of it was down to wear and tear.
I didnt run and body shell when bashing of the bmx track as you would just go through them so my original shell is still very usable.
Here is one of my more recent pictures of the slash fitted with some new body post and my braces off as I was using the shell and havent been bashing on the track recently:
As you can see its been running the Hobbywing Ezrun 3656 3400kv motor and the Turnigy Trackstar waterproof 80a Esc which I didnt think would hold up to running that motor on 2s and 3s and sometimes being completely submerged in water but to my surprise it has and hasnt missed a beat for around the last year which is great considering how cheap the Esc is.
As you can see its even still on its original steering servo I have never had one of these fail on me.
More coming soon.
Sorry to go on but I think thats enough for a minute, hope you enjoy the read.
Thanks Again.
