  1. As title I have two brand new Axial Ae-2 esc's. I have given them a quick test run and have videos of them running on my side. One I have fully waterproofed with decent clear silicone, I have used this method for years now I use to use it on my Mamba Monster Max esc's I took it out of the case and done a very thorough job it works perfect, first time I switched it back on it was completely submerged I do have videos and pictures of this. This is the esc at Modelsport: http://www.modelsport.co.uk/axial-ae-2-forward-reverse-esc-with-drag-brake/rc-car-products/40000 Heres a few pictures: The waterproofed one is at the bottom of the last picture. As you can see they are both fitted with deans connectors. Im after
  2. Yeah it's still going mate and you got it for your Slash which use to be one of mine . Right I then bought a Hong Nor X1 Crt back in July which had been converted to brushless and had a couple of upgrades. It was running a Hobbywing Xerun 150a Esc and a Tenshock X802 V2 2100kv Motor. It was converted with a conversion kit meant for a Ansmann buggy, It was also fitted with a spur and centre diff from the Ansmann. I tidied it up fitted a better battery tray as it was fitted with a flimsy one which wasnt the one that come with the conversion kit. I also serviced the diffs and shocks. I then got the centre diff, mount, motor mount and spur to all line up correctly and run well as it was a mixture of bits. I then decided to lock the centre diff I have in the past tried all sorts to lock them but nothing lasts, so I welded the diff on the spur gear side to the spur gear and put a bolt and nut through the diff case side which has held up fine. I then sold the brushless combo and fitted a Hpi Flux Scream 1965kv motor which I rebuilt with some decent bearings then a Wp Sc8 both of which I had spare. Heres a couple of pictures: As you can see the good old ballon trick to keep the water of my Rx as it was only fitted temporary to give it a run. More updates with more cars coming soon . Thanks.
  3. I have slowed down a lot I thought as money is needed elsewhere now, I like to keep it all in one thread like this so I can look back on it in the future . I have got to add another three cars to this thread later when I can be bothered to do more typing and uploading of pictures. Thanks.
  4. Then I got a pair of the Nanda Racing short course blocks which I think are great for the money. As you can see I was running the Firestorm rear shocks and the Toro 8XP 2320kv motor with the Wp Sc8 Esc. I also broke the original battery post that the clip went through so I drilled a hole through the chassis and went for a nut and bolt no way thats coming out. I then treated the Slash to a few other new bits: The originals didnt break but the centre shaft had bent and the rear bearing carriers and a arms were very worn and had a lot of play in them. I fitted the centre shaft, rear bearing carriers and a pair of a arms to the rear and still have the other pair as spares: Having a well derserved strip and clean: I then got given some old shells of my mate: I have since then took all the stickers off them and cleaned them up to give them a new lease of life. Now the Slash for atleast the last couple of years has been getting bashed hard mainly on a gravel bmx track atleast once a week no matter what the weather a true basher . It has held up really well considering it has seen alot of air time, bad landings, crashes you name it its seen it water, rain, snow, streams, rivers etc. Yes I have broke parts and parts have worn out ie alot of slop/play in them. Of the top of my head things that broke: Shock shafts bent even the upgraded ones (Now using Team Durango big bore shocks) Shock caps broke Caster block Spurs A load of bearings Centre shaft bent (This was down to chassis flex on the big landings, so with my diy braces from the rear shock tower to the front this problem was sorted) Driveshaft Bumper (Broke but still usable) There probably is a couple of other bits but to be fair most of it was down to wear and tear. I didnt run and body shell when bashing of the bmx track as you would just go through them so my original shell is still very usable. Here is one of my more recent pictures of the slash fitted with some new body post and my braces off as I was using the shell and havent been bashing on the track recently: As you can see its been running the Hobbywing Ezrun 3656 3400kv motor and the Turnigy Trackstar waterproof 80a Esc which I didnt think would hold up to running that motor on 2s and 3s and sometimes being completely submerged in water but to my surprise it has and hasnt missed a beat for around the last year which is great considering how cheap the Esc is. As you can see its even still on its original steering servo I have never had one of these fail on me. More coming soon. Sorry to go on but I think thats enough for a minute, hope you enjoy the read. Thanks Again.
  5. Hi, Long time no see this is well overdue an update, I will try to remember as much as I can but there is no way of putting everything in here from around the last year! Here is a few pictures of the Slash 4x4: Then I got a pair of Proline Trencher tyres for the Slash Christmas 2013 (time goes so fast), then I fitted them to the Fastrax wheels I had: I then bought a pair Fastrax rear universal driveshafts the older style ones which came with the hex's which were the only ones that would fit. Now these have held up well over the last year or so but the hex's do let them down the wheels have worn them down then they start to slip and ruin your wheels, and you cant fit other hex's to them. The newer ones have the hole for the pin to go through and use your standard hex's or upgraded ones which are better: More coming...
  6. Looking great your doing a excellent job on it so far keep it up, some good parts being used . I look forward to seeing more updates. Thanks.
  7. Out of the three you have mentioned I would go for the Hyper. Good luck. Thanks.
  8. That's a good point. I have in the past used a little bit of grease but found it didn't last long and more dirt stuck to it obviously. Some of my motors are use to getting fully submerged and the tape doesn't let any water through. A lot of motors arnt open on the end with the bearing exposed, I have never noticed any problems with the temps or the bearings always closely monitored with my temp gun. One of my motors which was closed on the end I drilled a hole through the casing so the bearing was exposed made changing the bearing easier as well. Each to their own everyone has their own little ways . Thanks.
  9. Well done mine lasted fine once I had nut and bolted it. Another thing on my motors where the end of the can is open and the bearing is exposed I cover it with some decent black tape to stop any dirt or water getting in there. You don't really notice the tape and it's easily changed. Thanks.
  10. This is common on these braces and they always break there, have you checked your front one? As you can see there is another hole in the chassis where the brace is so on mine I drilled through the brace and put a bolt through the chassis and brace then a nut at the top. Done the job help up fine and better than no brace or a brace that is broke and isn't attached to the chassis. Thanks.
