  1. Thing is, the hubs are breaking too easily. When I've been hit by other drivers the impacts haven't really been that hard. The way things were going I would end up having loads of spares that I would never use. The hubs I've bought are cheaper than buying the plastic sprue's, just. I've got spare wishbones so I'll see how things go. Thanks for your input though.
  2. Thanks. Just bought some.
  3. Can anyone tell me where I can buy some aluminium front hubs for my Tt-01? I'm sick of the standard plastic ones getting broken when racing.
  4. There's a few of us at Crewe RC Model Car Club that race Mardave's. Friday nights from 18:30 to 22:00 at the Oakley Centre.
  5. I've got the same one and can vouch for it.
  6. Are you using a ready fluxed solder?
  7. I've used harder tyre inserts in the past to stop the tyres flexing quite so much. Quite often though it's simply driving technique.
  8. Pity he didn't open fire then. lol
  9. I have to use a wheel transmitter. I have M.E and using a stick transmitter is too painful for me.
  10. My mate did that once and ran over his car! He didn't try it again. lol
  11. I've got 2 of the Acoms systems and haven't had any problems whatsoever with either.
  12. I would have to say that my favourite of all time was my first car back in the 70's. I was only young, but I'm sure it was a Mardave. It was just so easy drive and look after. In those days if anything went wrong my dad took the stress, not me. lol Still drive a Mardave every so often and still enjoy it loads.
  13. What a difference! Just gave it 20 minutes solid running and the motor didn't even get warm. Now I realise I was running outside and not inside a warm room, but seeing as the motor didn't even get warm, I'd say the mods have worked. True test though will be this coming Friday at the club meeting. Depending on the first 5 minute heat I may be able to up the pinion gear back to 22, which will give me top speed two thirds of the way down the main straight.
  14. I've cut air hole, half body width and
  15. Thanks. I've looked at the Ansmann ones. The twin fan looks as though it would be more useful as it should increase overall airflow, but the single fan one has a much greater surface area. The trouble with the Tt-01 is the fact it's so built up at the front end because it's all moulded plastic, it's going to reduce air flow. I'm thinking that I should also cut a vent into the bottom edge of the windscreen on my BMW body to allow more air around the motor. It's certainly going to be the last money I spend on it, other than repairing race damage. Time to save for something better, without a moulded chassis.
  16. I've now fitted a Mtroniks Big Lix Mach 2 19x2 Modified Motor and lowered the gearing to the stock 19 pinion and 61 spur. It's still getting too hot to handle, around 85°C. I can't lower the gearing any more as it's a Tt-01 so not really adjustable. The motor doesn't smell bad and performance is still there. I'll have to fit a heat sink and fan, but will this reduce the heat enough?
  17. It's at Tipkinder Park, next to the Queens Park and yes, it's a very good track. Trouble is it's always full of kids on their BMX's. It's the home track of Olympian Shanaze Reade who was in my sons class at school. It's an Olympic standard track and a training venue for the 2012 Olympics. Google Maps
  18. I remember when the quarry was still being worked, just. I remember riding cardboard sledges down the Park Hall hills during hot summers. I used to live in Weston Coyney as a young child and they were the happiest times of my life. Used to love going down to the brook at the bottom of my street and building dams. We'd walk downstream for about a mile and 'tickle' the small trout. Used to see larger trout, but they kept their distance. The cows from the field across the brook used to regularly escape and trample over everyone's garden. Of course we, as kids, thought it hilarious. My parents moved to Essex when I was nearly 10 years old and I initially hated it. A few years later we moved again to Crewe. I live in Crewe now, but would love to take my MT-2 over for a bash.
  19. Ah, thank you. I'll pop along to the LHS and see if he's got a 24t and 25t pinion gears. The Carson set came with a 55t and a 58t spur gear. Hopefully then, that combination will work as it gives me more options. Again, thanks for your help.
  20. Thanks for your answer. Just wish the Tt01 had a proper adjustable motor mount rather than the forced positions.
  21. I fitted a cheap Ansmann Racing Clash 18T Motor to my Tamiya Tt-01 and it lasted all of three minutes racing last night before cooking. Smoke was pouring out and everyone moaned. The car is fitted with a 28t pinion and a 55t spur gear that came with the Carson upgrade kit. This gearing suits our track perfectly for me. I used the same gearing when running with the stock 27T motor without problem. When I first fitted the Ansmann 18T motor the stock esc thermal cut off activated. I then fitted a Modelsport UK Sniper RV-12 esc to cope and it's now that the motor has cooked. Can anybody advise if the Reedy Challenger 19T Spec Motor would be able to cope? I don't really want to revert to the stock pinion and spur if I can help it. Thanks for your time.
  22. When I go over the local park I always take along my dogs. The border collie loves to chase my MT-2 and my bull mastif just bounces around like a child. I've never had anyone mouth it at me. Generally the ones who don't like the noise or are incapable of controlling their animals pass us by and return later. Quite simply those who have dogs off the leash and cannot control them in a public place are technically breaking the law themselves.
