  1. I'm defo Going! Been to this a few times now, and the revival w/e. They're great events for petrolheads and the cars their (as in the pics) are always a jaw-dropping mix of the finest cars in the world, with some great racing action. Loving those pics btw Matt, got me properly salivating in anticipation already! That Audi Quattro S1 is stunning.... They should defo make some of the Group B rally car bodyshells for R/Cs, are there any about that people know of? One of those Audi's, a nice Lancia Delta S4 or 037 would be very nice I'll be staying with friends in either Brighton or Worthing for the weekend, would be good to catch up with any folks who're going to be there though. Cheers, Lawrence.
  2. Flippin'eck! Argos must sell loads of them.... What are they thinking? In that case maybe I was being a bit harsh on old Sportybumark or whatever his name is.. Even still though, you'd imagine that after owning something for 5 years you'd realise it wasn't breaking many speed limits!
  3. Seems slightly unlikely that any high street shop would charge £100 over the MRP for an item though, don't you think?? I did give him some real grief before he changed the ad to how it looks now, think quite a few other people on here did as well....
  4. Just got a little reply from someone on ebay after I gave him a little prompting to sort the ad out! "First of all mate, I am not a liar. I think that i have been misled on the capabilities and maybe not looked properly at the spec. I have ammended it. Also, I paid
  5. I think that the 4wd Slash would certainly handle better than the Stampede, if you're now considering a Short Course over Monster... Would that make it a better choice though? I don't know.. They're so different. I love the craziness of the Stampede and the massive fun factor of it, which I simply don't think you'd get with the Slash. @ mrclive,- Yep, I do have a few, but its for the greater good, honest!! I don't and won't ever use them all myself. The intention behind buying them was to use with a new club/outreach project scheme that I'm in the process of setting up, so hopefully at some point they wil be enjoyed a great deal. As for you Mr Euphoria, you don't exactly help with my problem do you!! Also when they are good to go you'll be the first one to reap the benefits, maybe even return the favour and break a few of mine for a change! As long as you don't stand on one of the expensive ones like I did with your rustler...
  6. Souns good to me too, like a Freecycle for the R/C community. Great idea!
  7. Stampede's for me would be the obvious choice. They're great fun, fast and very easy to get spares (cheaply) and a huge range of hop-ups for. Very simple to work on as well. The Bullet...? Can't even see it on HPIs European website, though did find pics of it and vague details on German and Italian websites. I'd imagine that spares would be more expensive being HPI, and hop-ups harder to come by as its not such a well known truck/chassis as the Stampede, which has many parts that are the same as the Slash, Rustler and Bandit.
  8. Hi guys, While your on the SSK topic, I'm having a little issue at the moment. I have the V2 version, came to me recently with quite a few other vehicles in a bulk buy. One of the front steering blocks was broken (arm snapped off) and I got a pair of new ones but didn't think to order new bushings, as I thought that the ones in there would simply slip out (the car has only been run once and they are not warn). Things is I don't seem to be able to be able to get them out no matter what I try (they don't just slip out like bearings usually do, and are firmly wedged into the alloy blocks it seems). Any tips at all you could suggest, or will I have to bite the bullet and have to shell out the huge sum of about
  9. Looks sweeeet! You got the latest/stronger diffs in there? A friend who's got one brakes his almost everytime he takes it out!!
  10. What have I been doing? I got an EB4 for about
  11. Hello lovely, kind and generous people! I've got myself roped into running the Brighton Marathon in April.. Don't know quite how it's happened, as I've never done any running in my life apart from when I was made to do it at school and I hated it then... Anyway, I'm in training now, running an average of 10 miles 4 times a week and actually quite enjoying it, which is a bit weird! The point of it all is to raise as much money as I can for a charity that do some great work in Rwanda, where the genocide which went on there in recent years has left many young people without parents or famillies and very vulnerable. There are thousands of children and young adults who are now living on the streets there in poverty, many addicted to solvent abuse as a means of escaping from the very bleak lives that they have been left with after the horrors that have gone on. The charity that I am running for has been set up to support young people who have been orphaned, neglected or left in very difficult conditions. It operates in Kigali, the capital city of Rwanda and has an office where it organises fund raising from in Brighton. If you would like to find out more about the charity and the work they do then please visit their website:- www.rYico.org More importantly, please sponsor me! It really doesn't matter how much or little, any and all money will help this great cause, which seems to have been almost taken out of the public eye by what is going on in the rest of the world.. If you visit here http://www.justgiving.com/Lawrence-Newson then you can safely donate your precious pennies, which will go straight to the charity once I've run the marathon in April! Many thanks in advance for your generosity, Lawrence
  12. Sounds like a waste of time to me... I'd rather put in some more over time at work doing something real, then buy things with my own money than waste more time looking at this computer screen!
  13. Ah-ha! Yep, didn't notice that before.. Bit rubbish isn't it. Whats the point of having a cover if it doesn't actually cover it properly? Taking mine off immediately!!
  14. @ 19 Inch Guns,- I realised that they didn't run with a gear cover buddy, just couldn't get my head around how grit/muck got in there in the first place and meant you'd be best off running without one. Guess they don't actually seal very well then..
  15. @ Matt and Sammy,- Just wondering how it is you manage to get muck going into the gear cover?? Looking at the one on my Stampede it seems to be pretty well sealed all the way round... Is that not the case, or am I just not bashing it hard enough!?!
  16. Bump! All back on sale now as buyer had serious problems with his "real" car and had to pull out... Cheers! Lawrence
  17. Caster EX-1 Rolling Chassis for sale. I'm selling an unused Caster EX-1 rolling chassis. Its a fantastic car (check out the review that badger906 wrote about it on here:- http://www.msuk-foru...howtopic=71711), but I am about to invest in a brushless conversion kit for an XT8 and a slightly nutty Rustler which will keep me busy and entertained for a while! Just in case you didn't know.. Its 1/8 scale, intended for brushless systems and has what is essentially a nitro chassis, very similar to that of the Mugen MBX5R and will take Mugen parts I believe. The car is boxed, never been run at all and in mint condition apart from the following:- 1mm was filed from the left hand steering post and 2mm from front brace to try and accomodate a stupidly big motor. There is also a small mark on the suface of the chassis just behind the steering post. This will not effect the cars performance at all. I've taken lots of pics so you can see just how lovely she is! Asking price
  18. Cool, cheers Si! Just had a look at the specs of the Velineon and its not even going to be as quick as that, or have the capacity to take bigger than 2 cell lipos.. Nevermind.
  19. Looks like I'm about to join the Rustler crew! Wondering if anyone has a clue about whether the Fusion Exceed 13.5T brushless combo would do ok in there for now until I can afford something better? I bought it to go in a 1/10 on road touring car (T2009) and not sure how it would do in a vehicle like the Rustler.. Any ideas? Cheers, Lawrence.
  20. I realise I've come in a bit late on this thread, but looking at the the link from the first post there's something decidedly fishy about it... At the top of the ad it says 15kg high torque metal geared servo, then in the description it says 10kg.. Inconsistent info in specs like that generally means somethings not right, and thats usually the product!
  21. Ooops... Sorry Jerre, you shouldn't have such a flippin exotic name!!
  22. Just putting in a suggestion from my recent experience of getting a really fun car to play about with thats great for scaring grannies!,- The Stampede VXL.. Excellent fun, not quite as fast as the Rustler VXL but pretty darn quick. You can get the complete kit for £268 inc a decent NiMH battery and charger at the mo to get you started, giving you plenty left to get some LiPos/charger for when you've got the feel of the beast and fancy some more speed! I've recently got one and absolutely loving it, strongly recommended! I'm using 20C Core R/C LiPos in mine at the mo and they are plenty quick enough and good value http://www.modelspor...on&ItemID=29247
  23. Put me down as a possible please, again depends if I can get transport but hopefully I can talk a certain very kind friend into it... Will have some cars and transmitters working properly this time, hooray!! Finally figured out what was wrong with the futaba which stopped play last time,- the shop had sold me the wrong receiver for it which it wouldn't bind with in the Losi. I also had it on the wrong setting to work with normal servos in the car which had the proper receiver, hence the little dance my TT01 was doing! Its working very well now though, and all those beautiful bits from Japan are doing a grand job you'll be happy to know Jeremy! Could bring a few of the little Carismas if the weather is nice for some close 1/14 on-road action, as long as none of those large scale steam rollers are in the vicinity! Don't think they'd mix too well together.. I'll be bringing various 2.4ghz systems (Futaba, Carisma and Spektrum) and 27mhz (brown) gear btw, just to confuse things, especially myself Hope to see you there, Lawrence.
