  1. Thats a fair point, we are using it just for one car. As you were ;-)
  2. I am really surprised about the lag comments. I have a Futaba 4PL and my son has the GT3c and to be honest in operation such as racing range, speed of reactions and general performance they are hard to tell apart. Sure the quality and programming is way more sophisticated on the Futaba but TBH It is a much more expensive radio system so it should be. We have an early one like Neil and had to fix the power switch but we have no issues with programming once I learnt the right buttons to press. At the end of the day
  3. Yeah your solution is neater but I did not have a low profile switch and I have the toggle in my spares box. I had a couple of goes at fixing the wires but they always failed eventually and always at an inconvenient time.
  4. I appreciate there have been a couple of threads on here but thought \I would post my fix to my sons TX. Once I took it apart I figured that the easiest way was to switch the battery supply and I wanted to fit a decent sized switch and put it where it cant easily be knocked on or off. I just soldered together the contacts to permanently keep switched on - sorry for the camera shake I then fitted a toggle switch from Farnell to the main body but out of the way Wired up internally to the positive wire from the battery by cutting the red wire and inserting the switch into the circuit All done and lovely, the only downside to this mod is that you need to make sure the switch is on when you are charging via the usb port DAMHIKT
  5. Its not too heavy, my 11 year lad old can carry it to the car and load it OK. Its mostly hardboard with just the corners and top edge reinforced with pine strips I had kicking about. Best thing is its strong and you can sling stuff in it. Usually throw a few snacks and a flask of coffee in as well for a days racing/
  6. Hiya I love a bit of DIY and had some wood/ply hanging about and built a box for my buggy. Bottom has compartments for spares and tools with a padded section for the TX. A removable board for setup/servicing and I built a removable stand that plugs into the board for tyre changes/testing etc. Sorry car is still filthy from Sundays racing. Hope this helps, I made a similar one for my son as well - the blue box in the background.
  7. Another vote for the Xtreme Stock by Hobbywing. I got it for my 44.1 on Si Coe's recommendation and with a 10.5T motor. The timing tuning and turbo feature is awesome the guys I race with all have 6.5's and on a small track they don't have a speed advantage as the turbo on the straight keeps pace with them.
  8. The version of firmware on your box is 1.11_120331_v3, this firmware will ONLY work with the v3 ESC so make sure you have this version of ESC. If you have the earlier v2.1 or v2.0 ESC you MUST downgrade to the 1.08_120504.
  9. I am away currently and will be back Sat and will resend then.
  10. It does just go round with the movement of the bike to provide gyroscopic action that stabilises the bike. The first few feet are unsteady but it soon gets easier. You need a fair bit of space, definitely not inside a house unless you have a huge room.
  11. Did you check it still has the flywheel inside the front wheel. It is not that hard to drive but it would be impossible with no flywheel. You need to remove the tyre to see it.
  12. GPM still have hop ups listed http://www.asiatees.com/model.php?Kyosho-Motorcycle-Upgrades-Parts-Hop-Ups&brand=Kyosho&model=Motorcycle
  13. Found this lipo that is the perfect size, would last forever. Would need to figure out connectors and fit a 3v warning device. http://www.storacingproducts.com/turnigy-1300mah-2s-20c.html
  14. I have one of the original Suzuki RGV500 from this range. The original did not have a moving rider and there were a few hop ups for it. Mine has the alu shocks front and rear, big motor andfull bearing kit but still the same battery. I custom painted mine with my leather colours (used to do a bit of bike racing) Took some pics and I even still have the manual if you need a copy. They were a hoot to drive but took a little mastering. They responded extremely well to the hop ups and were sensitive to suspension and gearing changes. We used to have a little race series around a cycle path in a local park way back in the 80's. They were fun on artificial surfaced tennis courts as you could get them to drift nicely with practice. I must get my battery replaced and have a blast.
  15. Cool, I was still in NIMH mode and forgetting you can top up Lipo's. Probably will get a second set anyway but good to know one will work for the evening. Thanks all.
  16. Hi All I was wondering how many batteries I will need for a typical 3 heats and a final style race meeting. Indoor carpet short track 1/10th 4wd buggy. I used to burn through a 2400Nimh per race back when I raced previously. My new car will have 5000mah Lipo 2s powering a 10.5t hobbywing motor, how long roughly will this last. Will it manage multiple races do I need extra sets? TIA
  17. Really appreciate your advice Si. I have decided to take you suggestion on the Hobbywing combo, could not see much else to compare out there and they seem well thought of and price includes the programmer etc. Wallet has taken a beating this week so will wait until I get the car and motor esc combo delivered before getting anything else. Hopefully the memory of spending will fade and the batteries/charger/servo will be kinder on the pocket. Very excited though, think it will be an awesome setup.
  18. Thanks again Si, it is a smallish track so the 10.5T is probably better for me at this time. I will ask about the batteries, the only rule I am aware of is to use a charging bag for Lipo's. What about chargers, anything special I need to look out for?
  19. Well following on from my first questions about upgrading a Tamiya Plasma Edge, I got a nice deal on a brand new RC10 B44.1 Factory Team for
  20. Thanks again Si. We will talk to the club first but both the TA and Durango buggies look awesome. A bit of saving to do I think!
  21. Thanks for the reply. Is there a problem with GPM stuff, it looked all good to me but I was just going by the pictures. I have ordered from Asiatees and wasn't too expensive. We had a destroyed front shock so needed something anyway. We got a better servo from a friend, a BMS 661MG-HS which made a big improvement in the steering. I think from what you say we will get a decent radio kit and leave the rest for a better car. His birthday is in July so will start researching new car candidates. I think a 4 wheel buggy is still where he wants to be so will read up a bit more here to see what people like and are a good base for a young racer.
