  1. Have you got ball bearings in it yet, or are you still running the plastic bushings? Definitely want ball bearings in there mate
  2. Sure, I understand mate pieman5 wanted a top deck too, so I think we should be able to sort something out. Do you have msn?
  3. The problem with sending the top plate is that if you cut a different area out for the tank to fit, then the deck I'll make might not fit, as my tank mounts may be in a different position, if that makes sense. If you don't mind this, or if you want me to do the radio box too, send me a PM I'm afraid I can't take any pics as, as I said, I sold my Savage! I've found a way to cut the radio box in such a way that you get the servo mounts from the material removed; will try and finish it tomorrow so people can see exactly what I'm offering (I bought a radio box and tank to try it out). Cheers for the interest mate
  4. Would this be of interest to you? http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=56751
  5. Yup, same with any mid tan mod, but you have the advantages of vastly improved weight distribution, and the tank is far less likely to smash than when it's just hanging over the edge of the chassis, so it's worth it imo
  6. Thanks man, if two more people are interested I'll order up the material and get you your masterpiece lol
  7. Very nice! The shell looks sweet too Can I ask where you got the throttle linkage from btw?
  8. Hi Steve, there's room in the front part of the radio box for the hump pack, where it usually goes, and I had my receiver stuck to the inside of the TVP. Here's the first, messy attempt, just to show there's loads of room for the electronics Will obviously make it look better if I get round to selling them As for the tank, I think I had the stock 160ml one, but they're all fairly similar from memory, if you'd be willing to send yours to me I could make sure of that
  9. Hehe, nice to meet you too! I haven't been on here very much recently (I sold up!), so I'm a bit of an old timer Thanks, that's much appreciated mate lol, I'm sure I'll be able to sort something out for you dude :ggod:
  10. It sounds like a couple of people are interested in having a mid tank mod like this (pic of my old Savage): You would use your standard fuel tank and for your money, I would send you a modified radio box with a top deck like above, ready to fit your tank. I would probably sort out some servo mounts as the throttle servo needs to be moved; you would need to sort out the throttle linkage but this is an easy job: I'm starting this thread to see if there would be sufficient interest- if there is then I'd be charging about
  11. Thanks for the support, I will definitely look into it... what do you think people would be willing to pay for it, if they sent me their radio boxes and tanks? I would mod the radio box to fit the tank, fit mounts for the tank and top deck, and make the top deck. I could probably also make mounts for the servo relocation, so you would just need to sort the linkage yourself. I'm excited, haven't made anything in a while...
  12. Cool, good luck That is the old radio box, yup. I've just had a look at the X radio box... First way I can think of would be to use polymorph; make some L shaped brackets to go into the side of the radio box. You could screw the top deck into the polymorph to secure it. Having written that, I think the best way would be to use the tank mounts! superglue or screw the tank mounts into the side of the radio box, holes in the top deck, use an O-ring, and body clip to secure. If I'm not making sense PM me and I'll draw some pics on msn or something I've just gone through my spares, and I've found an X radio box and an old 21 fuel tank (uses a primer). Do you think there would be a demand for complete mid tank mods on ebay or something?
  13. His copyright isn't void as a result of that though I'm sure he wouldn't have minded any way, but thanks for the heads up
  14. Thanks It is the stock tank, and from memory I had the tank mounted by drilling two holes into the deck I made. I think I used one of the original tank mounts, and for the other I used a long screw with several nuts/washers/o-rings. I guess you mean the throttle servo? This picture shows how I did one side of the servo, a lucky find in a spares box. Have a look at what you can find lying around, any square blocks of plastic will work with a few holes drilled in Polymorph is great if you wish to make your own mounts btw. As for electrics, this picture will explain: I had the receiver/fail safe under the tank, but I would only do this if you have a skid plate fitted! The hump pack stays where it normally is. This is taking me back, I sold the savage two summers back! The pictures I've used aren't mine, they belong to RC_mad I think (he bought it after I sold it), hope he doesn't mind me using them- I'll get rid of if he does.
  15. Looking good man! I just had a look and I found some pictures of mine: I told you that I used the lid of the radio box to cover it; I now remember making a top deck sort of thing with the switch built in to make it uber tidy. I just used a sheet of 3mm Delrin (possibly too thick), I used the lid as a template, and then cut around to let the tank fit. I know it's hard to see much, but it's the best pic I have of how I did the linkage. Hope this is useful
