  1. Interesting opinion, I've already got a Max6 in my Talion but was under the impression it offered nothing over the stock X-Maxx esc. If I put in the optional gearing, won't that overtax the stock electronics? For example, extended speed runs over grass etc
  2. Hello X-Maxx owners, I am seriously considering buying an X-Maxx. Been keeping my eye out for a rolling chassis but they seem hard to come by, so have accepted the fact that I may just have to buy new and sell the stock esc & motor. I'd like to put in a power setup that would allow for at least 60mph reliably (on road), with no stress or heat issues. In the past I have a Revo 3.3 with a .32 engine, then had an Xray 808 with a Nova .28, and now at the moment I've got an Arrma Talion with a TP40107... I have a habit of trying to fit in the biggest powerplant I can. Going by the research that I've done, it seems the Hobbywing Max5 & Hobbywing 56113 is a very popular option. However, most of the speeds recorded on youtube seem to average 55mph, which is only 5mph quicker than stock. Another popular option is the Castle MMX8 & Castle 2028. Trouble is, I don't really want to spend upwards of £300 on a new power system, and also don't want to be shattering gears and spurs every time I drive it!! I've compiled a list of possible esc & motor options, if anyone has experience with any of these in an X-Maxx, I'd be curious to hear your thoughts... Esc: - Hobbywing Max5 - Castle XLX - Castle XLX2 - Castle Monster Mamba X 8s Motor: - Hobbywing 56113 - Leopard 58113 - Castle 2028 - SSS 56114 - SSS 56123 - Surpass Hobby Rocket/HobbyStar 56112 - Surpass Hobby Rocket/HobbyStar 70120 Thanks for any advice
  3. Ah ok yeah that's true, I'm just surprised how much more expensive it is
  4. Hi all, Just curious about something... Why is the Traxxas X-Maxx being sold here in the UK on websites such as Modelsport and Wheelspin models etc for £1025, but the RRP on the Traxxas website (manufacturers websites usually state the highest price) which in this case is $929.99... That translates to about £673... So why is it being sold for nearly double that?! I'd really like to buy one but can't face paying over £1k for what is essentially a few pieces of moulded plastic that probably cost Traxxas only $150 to make.
  5. Sure, I appreciate your thoughts and feedback. Will definitely need to reconsider and have a think about it. I am trying to change my mindset so I can enjoy an RC without feeling the need to try and squeeze every MPH out of it that I can...
  6. Thanks for the replies 🙂 @Guns I bought that Tekno EB48 off you a long time ago, then moved to the Talion, now to the X-Maxx... wonder how big the next one's gonna be XD You're right, in the past I've always been fixated on mph. That's because I thought I would enjoy the adrenaline rush of having a tiny, expensive car go zooming past me, just knowing that a tiny blip and it could be totalled. Trouble is, I've never managed to get any of my RC's to go much beyond 60mph, and I've had a lot of brushless models. I remember when the original E-Revo came out, hardly anyone ran 6s, everyone said to start on 4s etc... its plenty fast etc... but I went straight to 6s and wasn't impressed - was too slow for my liking. Since then I had the Vorza 6s, your Tekno EB48 6s, none of them were that fast no matter what I did to them. I guess I just don't have enough space like they have in America, with those huge long roads. So to cut a long story short, I figured I'd try something else and see how much fun I can have with an X-Maxx, not necessarily going for pure speed but just bashing a big monster truck. Everyone says it's fun... It's just in my nature to shove in the biggest powerplant I can fit and get as much power out of it as I can...
  7. Hi all! So I've currently got an Arrma Talion V4 running a Max6 esc & massive TP4070 motor, but it's never really got me that excited. I put it together to do speed runs for the adrenaline rush, and just general fast bashing, but so far I've only managed to reach 60mph from it (on 6s). Strange since the stock electronics can get it to 70mph... Not sure if that's just because I don't have enough space to run it or whatever... I don't really bash hard and probably have only ever broken a couple of parts. And after spending hundreds of £££ on it, I'm now thinking about doing a U-turn and selling it and getting an X-Maxx! :') Man, they just look so cool. I've watched countless youtube videos of them and while they may not do more than 50mph, the fact they can *go anywhere* has a lot of appeal... But I got some questions to all you fellow X-Maxx owners out there. -------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Do any of you regret purchasing the X-Maxx and wish you'd bought, say, the Arrma Kraton 8s EXB? 2. Is it possible to lower the X-Maxx for road running? I haven't seen it lowered in any youtube videos. 3. Is it possible to keep the self-right feature if I change the esc? In the videos it seems to continuously flip over. Won't be used to it as I've never once flipped the Talion. 4. Can the drivetrain handle 5th scale power (e.g. Hobbywing Max5 56113 setup)? 5. Just curious why the X-Maxx typically has a 55mph limit? The motor is huge and runs on 33v, the Talion does 70mph with tiny motor and 24v. I get that the X-Maxx is bigger and heavier, but doesn't the increased power system even it out? Is it possible to have an general bashing setup that could achieve 50mph on grass and 70mph on road? -------------------------------------------------------------- Sorry for the long list of questions, I just need to be sure before I purchase that I'm not making a mistake. I'm actually looking at a couple of used X-Maxx's below, both seem to have their pros and cons... - This one seems to be in very good condition with a Max5, stock motor and a bunch of other nice stuff... https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/132189425544317/ - This one seems to be in not quite as good condition, but comes with a Max5 and a 56113 motor and a some other stuff like a belt drive etc... https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/470967754142946/ Do either of these look decent or should I avoid, buy new and put in my own power system (either Hobbywing or Castle)? Thanks so much for any help or advice, it is truly appreciated
  8. I'm part of that group but I don't think these guys are
  9. My dad told me he saw some guys with r/c cars in Friary Park, Barnet. And then my mum mentioned she saw some other guys in Grovevlands Park, Southgate. Just checking to see if they might be on these forums...
  10. Hi all, Just wondered if there was a quick and easy way to change the dual rate on the Radiolink RC6GS on the fly, like there is for the Spektrum DX2e? Would be very handy when alternating between bashing and speed runs Cheers
  11. Hi all, Got a noob electronics question for ya'll... I bought an automatic drinking fountain for my cat, which I leave running 24/7. It uses a waterproof pump like this one: I was just wondering, it's a waterproof pump (IP68) but if water did somehow manage to penetrate it, is there a chance it could short-circuit the electric motor which could then feedback into the plug socket and cause a fire? I don't believe the plug has a fuse in it? Apologies for my noobishness
