  1. The big problem with the ACE servos is you'll struggle to find one at a sensible price. They used to be really cheap, but then all the top drivers started using them, Associated put their sticker on it and suddenly the price shot up. It is a really really good servo, but the Associated version is a total rip-off.
  2. Given how low your VXL motor is, you could get the Sidewinder and safely run it on 9 cell NiMH. But I can tell you ordering from the States you WILL get hit by customs. I was for my Mamba Micro Pro.
  3. Dave at Roundabout is a really great guy, and normally his service is first rate. His prices are usually pretty good too. However his wife (who normally handles the mail order side) has just had a baby, the track he has a trackside shop at has closed and Dave is looking for new premises for his business. In other words things are a bit hectic and mistakes will happen. Not really and excuse, just an explaination.
  4. Basically I've found with my EZrun 5.5 that NiMH packs just don't quite cut it, even good ones. Incidentally despite all the rumours Lipo packs are much safer than NiMH. Over the years I've seen a few NiMH go pop (never mine thankfully) and quite literally burst. I've never seen a Lipo catch fire. I've seen a few get damaged, shorted or otherwise killed, but its obvious cos they swell up. As long as you have the sense to not hook a swollen Lipo to a charger it won't catch fire.
  5. Its pretty good. It feels and looks cheap and plasticky, because well it is........ But it does everything you need, and well. I've replaced 2 very old, non-computerised but high end 40mhz sets (Ko Esprit and Sanwa Gemini) with a Technisport. It does everything they can, but the whole system costs less than a new KO reciever and its 2.4 to boot.
  6. Oh, and having spent years beating nitros with less powerful electrics - remember tactics matter. You can out accelerate and out brake, but he'll have a higher top speed, so use your advantages. Don't give him enough room to spend ages flat out as he'll reel you in. Stick a cone down some distance away and race there and back, which hands the edge to you.......
  7. Thats rubbish! Sure its quick, but these days a good brushless setup will leave it standing. Just possibly, if he's geared to the moon and you have a 5 mile straight to play with he'll manage a higher top speed, but the vastly better acceleration of the electric means you'll be miles in front before he even reaches top speed! I've been running rc's for 20 years now, electric and nitro. Fastest I've ever had is my current RC18T. Mamba micro pro, Dynamite 9200Kv, and a 3S lipo. In a straight out drag it leaves a Schumacher Fusion 28 (so a 1/10th tourer with a bigger more powerful engine than the Pro 18) in its dust. Actually thats not true because the Fusion won most runs as the 18T just flips on acceleration its soooo over powered, but when it stays rubber side down it wins. I suspect the Fusion is capable of higher top speed, but the time to get there is quite long, whereas the electric is pretty much instant. What you need to know is the despite the fact I could win with the little eleccy the speed of the Fusion impressed me enough to buy the Schumacher/Picco 28 its uses for my Truggy. However , all that said - I have the ezruns in my B4 and Cat, and would have to say that whilst offically awesome and very fast, you'll need lipo power at least, and probably 3S to match a fast nitro tourer. The good news is that you don't need to speed 100's on 3S lipos though. The one for my 18T cost just
