  1. Hi mate I'm in Trentham, staffordshire. Not got a car yet though, but I'm working on it I will also be looking for a place to bash, and also maybe a track to practice on. I am also a noob that will need help! Cheers Matt
  2. Hi mate. Thanks for that reply. I tried sending you a pm but i dont know if it sent or not (im browsing on my phone and the message i sent has not appeared in my sent box). Anyway, the general question was what would you recommend? You appear to be very clued up Im open minded and would appreciate suggestions. For the right RTR kit i would say up to about
  3. hi all. Right i have pretty much made my mind up on which car to get. Im going to go for a trophy 3.5 (i think). Seems to me like its a good price and its based on a proven design (HB lightning buggy) Am i also right in thinking it would be easy to upgrade if i wanted to? Does anyone have any suggestions on weak spots and hop ups i should get asap? Also, i have gone for the trophy partly due to the looks (those wheels are boss! Lol) however, in terms of overall package quality / spares would a HB lightning be a better buy? Or maybe a hyper? Finally, do i stand to gain much if i upgrade the servos and radio gear? I was looking at the spektrum gear and it looks reasonable. Can anyone recommend some heavy duty servos? And would i need digital ones for use with a spektrum setup? Or are normal ones ok? Again, any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Matt.
  4. Hi all OK so I have been having a good look around at different models and have come up with a revised 'short' list I have also had a brainwave as far as kit and RTR goes, but seeing as I'm a noob it might be just me having a blonde moment OK, so the new list: RTR HoBao Hyper 8.5 RTR BRCA Edition
  5. Hi again all. OK, so after trawling through a few websites, I have come up with a 'short' list. Ahem, well its not so short, but its what I have narrowed it down to so far!! Secont point to mention here, is that I am now not 100% sure I want a kit form car. It seems there are some great RTR cars out there which may well be more suitable for me as I'm a total noob, lol Anyway, the list so far is (A mix of kit ant RTR): X-Terminator 2 Buggy 1:8 4WD RTR C-XTM-XT2 -
  6. Thanks for the welcome, and advice guys. Its much appreciated I'm still looking around. Not sure what im going to get tbh. I will keep you posted!
  7. Thanks for the suggestion. Are Losi any good? I want a model that has a bit of quality, not one that has a cheap, plastic feel. Would the 8ight stand up so some bashing? (and the verly likely event that im going to crash it! )
  8. Hi all. As I have mentioned here http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=52849 I'm in the market for a nitro Buggy / Truggy. Now, the things my purchase must be, are: [*]0% built (I dont want RTR) [*]Nitro [*]Capable of performing well on general offroad / offroad tracks [*]Useable at an RCC club [*]Tough enough to take some bashing and; [*]I initially need everything to get me started in building the car for approx
  9. Hi all, i'm Matt and I live near Stoke on Trent. Been considering getting into RC for about a year now, but with one thing and another its never come to pass. However, since selling the source of my first passion (my 2 motorbikes) I need a new hobby!! OK, so I have done some RC in the past, back when I was knee height to a grasshopper, lol. Cars I have owned: Mauri Ninja Tamiya Hornet Tamiya Mad Bull Tamiya Blackfoot Tamiya Lunchbox Tamiya Grasshopper OK, so by now you will be seeing a theme, my experience is limited to electric Tamiya's. So nitro is something I know practically nothing about. Having had RC cars years ago, to me part of the fun was always building them! So, my new RC purchase will have to be in kit form. I have already noticed how this severely limits my options, as most cars are RTR Wheres the fun in that?? So unless I buy a pro kit, I'm pretty much stuck Anyway, after perusing the wares on offer at ModelSport, I came to the conclusion that a HoBao Hyper ST Pro would be the ideal purchase. Its in kit form and not too expensive either. However, I would need some serious advice on what engine to get, and also all the other bits and bobs I would need too, such as servos, RC kit, glow starters, fuel etc etc. The other option I would consider is the Hyper 8 pro kit, although I'm not sure if it is 0% built, and ModelSport dont stock it. I want a 0% built kit!! lol I'm very specific about that. Also, I'm thinking of joining an RC club such as http://www.stoke-nitro.co.uk/s.n.r.c/index.html Would a truggy like the ST Pro be suitable, or OTT? I feel it would very much put me in the position of "all the gear, no idea"!! But I guess thats the price I'm going to have to pay for insisiting on a kit form car instead of RTR. Anyways, I have rambled on enough. Take it easy Matt
