  1. Up-date Maiden went very well, hand launched by a friend and up she went. Lovely scale loops , low level flight byes listening to the sound of the EDF the Vampire glides for ever , so I mist the first two landings, got it on the third go.. Sorry no film, but here's a photo of my Assassin , Vampire and Twister (in order of speed) Sean
  2. Yep!! I'd seen the review from FliteTest on youtube allso read up on it on the RCGroup Forum Vampire Thread. Hoping to maiden this weekend... Will have to make sure my Spy Sunglasses are charged to record the flight. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Video-Recording-Digital-Camera-Sports-Spy-Sunglasses-With-4gb-Memory-Card-/151022830131?pt=UK_AudioTVElectronics_Video_Camcorders&hash=item2329a98233 Sean
  3. I had a RadJet ( there a pusher prop, so not really a EDF), they fly great, I had mine doing around 90mph. but most of the time I end up crashing landing it,,, they don't glide or dead stick , you have to fly then into the ground... I gave up on mine after a month.. Use Gorilla glue on your repairs it's lighter then epoxy.. As long as you've got foam, you can repair,, you'll know your self when a fuse has had it's day.. And when you do kill it just buy another fuse or a different ARF that takes all the part out of the old one Sean
  4. Here's my Vampire all ready for it's first flight.. Just a few Mods. Carbon Fiber rod in tail booms, Front cheater holes opened up.. Thrust tube lined for a smoother exit.. The guts fitted.. Stock 45amp ESC removed and a Plush 60amp ESC fitted.. Air intake trimmed (gas flowed) Sean
  5. This is my new toy.. Still to maiden. Sean
  6. Sounds like your having fun and thats what it's all about.. I've got about 6 flights in with my Multiplex Twister EDF Jet,,, just love the sound of the EDF on the low level passes.. But will be up-grading the fan to a Change Sun 10 blade 70mm EDF unit and swapp out the stock motor for a Turnigy L2855-2800kv EDF outrunner (630watts) and run on 4 cell .. Mite just get the speeed then , that I like...
  7. Best thing about most flying wing is you can slope soar as they glide very well.. Sean..
  8. In all my time flying, I have allways CG balanced a plane/glider/wing before maiden flight,,, and every time I've had to move atleast the battery... It will fly fine without you balancing the blades,,but if you want the most out of the motor/fan and Li-Po your best balancing the fan , then the whole EDF unit.. Sean
  9. Some reading.. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1740895&highlight=edf+dynam+balanc Sean
  10. EDF is what you've bought.....Eletric Ducted Fan Looks great The hobbyking Vid would make you go out and buy one... Now you'll need a "Prop balancer" to balance the blades,,,,, after that you then need to Dynamic Balance the whole EDF unit.. There alot more to flying then just throwing them up into the air.. Do you have 3s 2200mAh 40c Li-Pos to run it , does your Tx have Delta mix/Elevon mix.. Sean
  11. OH! ! ! Gavin what have you done .. EDF is a total different ball game... What do you know about EDF Dynamic balancing ? Sean
  12. here some reading for you about balancing.. http://www.rc-airplane-world.com/balancing-rc-airplanes.html
  13. How to build a simple one.. I built one like this when I first started flying.. It works but is not 100% Only one I could find on E-Bay,unless you wana order from USA.. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Great-Planes-C-G-Machine-Center-of-Gravity-/321113662933?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item4ac3dda5d5 Sean
  14. Just did a quick search about the Z-84...You've got a very good set up . . You'll be flying with 6x4 props ?... The 2200kv motor can take 7x4 on 3s and you'll be around 340watt mark I bought my CG Balancer from Wheelspin models UK.. They really are a must have.. Sean
  15. Link to what you've bought... As said before "CG is Critical" . . Finger guest-a-ment is no good , it has to be spot on... If you have a CG Balance machine use that, if not buy one...your gonna need it ... Sean
  16. You don't know ? it's a FPV system... Nice,,, allways fancied having a go of FPV.. Do you still have the hobbyking link? Sean
  17. Don't know anything about the Swift... I do know there are several guys on this forum that have/fly the Ravens.. Flyingwings are UK based ,they build all there wings/planes in the UK,, support the British worker and buy from British manufacturers. Go to there contact us page and send them a E-Mail.. Sean
  18. No worries my friend Were all still learning ,,, I've just started in to EDF Jets.. Still to maiden my Durafly D.H.100 Vampire. Sean
  19. If you want Speed on the cheap.. get a Hobbyking RadJet 800 I had one with the same motor as Gavin wants(see above) 40amp Plush ESc and the same Li-Pos as in the link above.. I was hitting over 100mph every now anf then , average speeds in the 90s.. good fun while it lasted.(see my RadJet thread). Sean
  20. Sorry I didn't mean to be tough and critical (I'm just honest).... I know you've put a lot of time and work in to fitting out the plane.... What you want is Bank and Yank (Ailerons and Elevator only) loads of fun flying them.... Sean
