  1. Hi guys... I haven't been able to get down to my local club (DMCRC) on Friday nights since being promoted at work and my stuff has been sitting in the bedroom gathering dust since I last raced (in March, I think). My wife has told me to use it or sell it... I want to sell the whole lot as a complete kit... I can't believe I spent soooo much on this little lot in the past year. I have attached a spreadsheet of all the bits for sale HERE (right click and 'Save As') Here are a couple of photos - there are lots more HERE Everything is is perfect working order, and either NEW, or very little used. I only ever raced at DMCRC indoors and probably only used the Photon for about 12 weeks. The Speedo and Motor have probably had no more than an hour's use in total. I am totally happy to demonstrate any of it working. Wow - that is in lovely condition. Good luck with the sale
  7. Tell me about it... I have 500+ CDs I no longer listen to.. cost me thousands & hardly worth anything now Good luck with the sale
  8. Hi all... Hudy Lathe and GM ESC still available. Offers ?
  9. I bought it in April, so out of the 120 day warranty. However, I have been sent a new capacitor free of charge so hopefully it will be OK to keep as a spare.
  10. Garry - the LPF was set to 0 degrees timing. My mate has the same ESC and same motor and he can run 5.5 FDR and 26.5degrees timing and still be 20C cooler than me at the end of a race. The ESC is definitely faulty, hence the new one The only thing I can think is that the version of the firmware on the ESC is different from my mates, but I can't find anyone with the LCD Programmer (not the thing that comes with the ESC) to check.
  11. Definitely not binding - it's a new chassis, and everything spins freely without the motor attached.
  12. Even more reason to suggest my ESC was faulty... I was running 5.8 FDR and the motor was 90+C after 5 minutes !!!
  13. is in the groove

  14. I fried my Speed Passion 13.5 on Friday night... I have been experiencing high motor temps (for no apparent reason) for a while - I have come to the conclusion is that my ESC is faulty. So, I have a new Tekin RS Pro ESC to replace my SP LPF, but can't decide on which new motor to get ? Anyone got any recommendations for a 13.5t to use for 1/10th TC on carpet (rubber tyres) ? The obvious brands seem to be : GM Novak SS Novak Balistic Speed Passion LRP X11 Tekin Redline Nosram Evo Spec Which would you pick to go with the ESC ? Cheers, Daniel.
  15. Last night I managed TWO LAPS more than I ever did with my TRF... and I am still using the standard setup shown in the build manual. I am now faster than my mate running a T2'009 and 10.5 Lots of people at my local club are starting to ask questions about the Photon...

  17. ...well, it went OK Due to a heavy turn-out (too many mini's) we ended up with 3 x 4 minute heats and a final on a quick but tight carpet track, on rubber. Heat 1. I didn't have time for a practice as everyone was checking out the new chassis - the red alloy went down a storm ! Anyway, I took it easy the first few laps and noticed that the steering felt a whole lot different from my TRF 415, sort of slow but very accurate - I could put the car exactly where I wanted it. I dropped the expo a bit on the tx and it felt better. Ended up dropping out of heat 1 because a tyre came away from the rim after rubbing on my new shell. Heat 2. After checking all the screws and stuff for tightness heat 2 was a lot better. Stayed with the rest of the pack and managed 26 laps, getting quicker and more accurate with each lap. Average lap was slightly higher than with my 415... looks promising. Lost a blade off one of the rear dogbones... no damage to the outdrive or the 'bone though. New one fitted and rear belt tightened in just a couple of minutes Heat 3. Started heat 3 with a flurry of fast laps, only to have the front belt jump off the spool which converted me to rear wheel drive. Pulled out to avoid any damage. This was my fault entirely... the instructions say to run the belts loose for the first couple of races... I forgot to check them before heat 3. Final. Somehow managed to be placed 1st in the Stock C final, despite only finishing 1 heat. Anyway, managed to avoid the inevitable first corner pile-up and pulled out a 2 lap lead after 3 minutes. Fastest lap after fastest lap was called by the AMB software and I was having a great time... ...until I clipped the barrier on the fastest corner and broke the bell crank on the steering - I guess a servo-saver would have been a good idea Still managed 2nd as I was so far ahead. So... no stripped spool, no loose screws, nothing broken apart from my pride and the bell crank which was my fault anyway. The Photon doesn't come with a servo saver, so a Kimbrough KP201 will be fitted for this week. Overall, I am VERY impressed with this car. I can see that there is a lot of potential in this chassis, even with my limited talent. I am sure this week will be a lot better and I can concentrate on putting in consistent laps rather than worrying about what is going to fall off the car. I really wouldn't hesitate to recommend this chassis to anyone considering a new 1/10 TC. It is very well made, goes together relatively easily (a one-piece thrust bearing would be nice though!) and parts are cheap. I am sure I will test the robustness of the car at a future meeting. Daniel. PS - yes I know I still haven't taken any pics - I will clean the carpet dust off and take some tonight
