  1. Still playing about with the printers. I've recently bought an Ender 3, great little printer imo. The original acrylic framed i3 I had has been recycled into a much more Prusa style with MK2 parts on the whole. The ender 3 prints every bit as well with no tweaks, the original printer has been vastly modified. I make a lot of odds and ends as well as a few quad parts.
  2. A few other bits, Naze32 10DOF flight controller with wiring kit with GPS module and Light and buzzer module. New and Unused. £20 delivered Micro OSD New and Unused. £3 delivered ZMR250 PDB New and Unused. £5
  3. I've had this for around 5 years and not used it for 4! Time to accept I can't fly for toffee and allow it to move to some one that will appreciate it more. Flame Wheel 450 Frame & spares Dead cat clone frame APM flight controller and compass & buzzer Plush 30A esc EMP 750kV motors Props between 9 and 11" If collecting I can supply 2 2650mAh 3s batteries Google Photos APM 450 All worked when last used and have been video'd in action this very morning. No radio as I sold it with another quad. £110 ono delivered or even trades for crawler stuff.
  4. Get a soldering iron on the screw to break the threadlock down. It will take a few minutes to get the area hot enough. What drive shaft is it? Punishers use a heavy duty threadlock which I think is unsuitable as I've heard many have trouble with it. Prepare to use a small torx driver as a sacrificial tool, hammer it into the hex and give a small prayer to the RC gods!
  5. Go big or go home!! I'm in the process of gathering all the bits for a 1m tall kossel with a duet powered board. I'm hoping for around a 500mm build height - I probably should have just done this in the first place but never mind Have half of it and other half in the post still. How's it printing Baorevo? They have a serious cool factor built in.
  6. I've just got myself a new tablet, have no need for the subscription. Any use to anyone for £10? Rather not deal with ebay It will be the 25 digit code only. Must be registered before 15th August this year.
  7. Nick, has the connector become damaged with that 'landing' from the last time out?
  8. The AliExpress machine seller, Hesine, can be a little hit and miss and support isn't great - but - I don't think you could buy the parts for the money they charge. Not 100% but you do save some cash if it works in your favour. As for the UK ebay listings, it's less risk as you should be covered with a UK warranty but go back a few pages to see how how hard the seller of TamiyaCowboys' printer wriggled to avoid giving him his money back - oddly with Amazon involved :/ Toss a coin. Best of 3?
  9. The stepper motors control the accuracy by and large, these tend to be 200 steps per revolution and have 8 or 16 'micro steps' between the individual steps. They should all perform as you ask them. Where the control may be required, the filament is usually fed at 100% this can be adjusted slightly. I find my prints tend to be a little over size but I'm quite happy to file the parts to fit. I'm talking of maybe a thou' or 2 here, not much really. I could, if frustrated with the fits obtained alter the feed rate of the filament to marginally print less material, say 95%? If it's out by more than that then you can configure it further in the firmware for the board. You will most likely find it's the Melzi board at this price point. As for amount of printing per kg, pick up a plastic part for one of your rc's, weigh it. A kilo of filament goes a long way.
  10. There's a couple of listings, but I'd imagine they're from the same source. These seem to have done away with the Aluminium bed that the Aliexpress one a few of us have and also they don't have the 2 x 1kg of filament. So the price is similar but it's not quite to the same spec to what a few of us have. If you can wait a fortnight, the aliexpress one will set you back about £200 inc DHL's fees and VAT. The trade off of a plywood frame is they can absorb moisture from the environment. But an Acrylic frame can crack so it's a case of which is better for you? Suitably sealed the Ply would have been what I'd have gone for, but the option wasn't there for me at the time. The acrylic frame has been fine so far but I would much prefer an aluminium or steel frame, which if you can find a kit with either would be a better bet. If you go cheap because you're not sure about how much you'll use it, then fine, that's what I've done. But if you're confident you will be getting your hands dirty with one and can justify it then spending more is definitely going to pay you dividends. I'm happy with my i3, got it printing what I want, how I want and when I want..... but.... should I have gone for a better spec'd machine from the off? As they used to say on blind date (reference or what kids?) 'the choice, is yours!'
  11. ebay has a number of Prusa i3's in the UK for ~ £160. They look as good as any other i3 for the money and have a plywood frame which may be better than the acrylic frame. If you're confident enough to build a RC kit these shouldn't throw up any problems.
  12. is the carriage / bed running along the guide rods smoothly enough? You can move them around by hand easily with no power to the printer. Repetier allows you to switch the power off to them too. A picture of the error may help too. I refer back to this for any issues.
  13. Have a little play with some g-code. From reading the G-code from repetier host with cura as the slicer, the G28 command homes all axis. From here you could simply program a G0 (g0 is run at the maximum speed the software or firmware is set to) command to the opposite corner diagonally to the edge of your machine with ie: G0 X200 Y200 or if you want to define a speed at which to travel,G1 is the command with a F value of mm per minute so, 30mm/sec * 60 seconds = 1800mm/min. If you open a text editor (notepad is fine) and copy and paste the 2 commands G28 ; Home extruder G1 F1800 X200 Y200 then repeat however many times you want it to run those 2. Of course, you can add lines to command the travel around the edges of your bed or any where in between. Save the file as a .gcode file and repetier should run it. By utilising G-Code direct, we have a powerful tool for creating a plotter or laser engraver and cutter Oh and btw, I'm no wiz at this, there's probably easier or more 'correct' ways to achieve this - designing a 3D printed box to do it for you is the other alternative I thought may help....
  14. It's difficult to keep on top of everything 3D, top work on the starwars characters, they look great. And as for uprades we (maybe) don't need..... it's what keeps us in the hobby some times hahahaha!
  15. Interesting stuff. The European distributor has some mark up though, $35 from USA and 65E from Europe? It's pricey but if it helps keep prints down. I'm still printing pla on hairspray happily
  16. These Hesine printers can print ABS can't they? I've swapped the extruder to an all metal clone E3D V6 clone - ebay and AliExpress sourced and a little work still needed but I'm trying to get to grips with it. I know the psu can handle the load as it stands but I want some extra lights and an extraction fan for when ABS starts.
  17. Tamiya, for that little check list, make sure the rig is a more of a brute for routereerererering, something like 16mm linear rods for my money. 12mm Supported rod maybe sufficient... Save your pennies, try going the DIY route? Get exactly what you want then, to your own spec. I've been quiet with my machine, plumbing it into it's new home - on a table on the middle of the room was getting on my nerves! I've found it dances around rather readily. Onto thingiverse I go and find me this, print 4 off and clamp the waltzing Matilda down! Scaled the height to 85% for my Hesine Prusa to just nip the threaded bars. I have purchased a PC PSU ready to allow the printer to have some power redundancy - not keen on using power supplies too close to their limits. I want to bite the bullet and try printing ABS soon.
  18. Roll on April lol Good to hear you've resolved it one way or another
  19. Once bitten Twice shy... Good to hear they've seen sense and you've got your money back. You're wiser for the experience at the very least. Is there another option available to you? I know the frame around your printer makes it easier to handle but could you bolt a different model to a desk/bedside cabinet or something else on wheels to aid moving between sites? Good luck with what ever you decide to do and I'm sure we all hope the next printer is more reliable - 1 month is out of order no matter where the unit is from.
  20. Yet Amazon usually have excellent customer services. Damn annoying to say the least. How is it you only got 30 days to return it ? We get 12 months guarantee unless it was a refurbished product etcetera... Was the seller the UK agent for CTC or ctc themselves? Is it possible to deal direct with them and ignore Amazon in this instance? It's getting rather silly!
  21. I've been playing about with tinkercad, bit restrictive but still useful. I want to try the E3D style Chinese Extruders but finding something to fit these is a bit of a pita! So... I've used another users work and done these mount plates, just need to get around to actually trying them then maybe making my first upload to Thingiverse? Exciting!
  22. I've just this minute found these - sorry! I've been frantically looking as I remember seeing them. Good job Vr5fx! I've got a single unit (from that link) being printed to see about fit. Us Hesine users need to find as much as we can - there's so many variants it's mind boggling!
