  1. Hi all, im wanting to make a mod for my brushless conversion project. what type of plastic should I buy? im wanting to dremel it into shape, then be able to screw it and use self tappers on it. Will Perspex be up to this or will it crack? Is there another more suitable type of plastic I can buy? Ideally just want an A3 sheet of 5mm thick. Just not sure what to buy. many thanks
  2. Great repli and thank you! its the pitch bit I don't quite get... i thiught M3x10 would mean the screw / bolt is 3mm diameter and 10mm long. So in your example, 3mm diameter and 1mm long. am I misinterpreting this??
  3. Hi all, as part of my hyper 7 Brushless conversion project, I want to replace / upgrade all / some of the screws. the Losi 8ight battery tray for example could benefit from some longer screws when screwing to the engine U bracket from the underside. The old screws I'm using are tired and a bit on the short side. but how do I identify the screws I need? Are all the screws M3? What does the M3 mean. I know M3x10mm means the screw is 10mm but I don't know what the M3 bit means? then there are self rappers which to my understanding aren't measured with M. im just a little confused as to which screws to buy. The official screws going off the parts list seem to cost a fortune, like 4 screws for £4.95!! if I know what I'm looking for on eBay I can buy hundreds for pennies. as always, many thanks
  4. Ok... brace yourselves proper daft question here but I genuinely do not know. i need some new Alan keys for my RC tool kit, however, do I buy imperial or metric or does it not matter?? can anyone suggest a goof Alan key set? Or is it just an eBay job? go easy thanks in advance...
  5. Sorry what is lvc? The battery did feel warm but not hot hot
  6. Hi all, my Rustler just stopped all of a sudden today. I noticed the ESC flashing red. changed the battery and all fine. tested the cells when I got home. Cell 1 is 3.50 and Cell 2 is 3.49 but cell 1 is jumping between 3.50 and 3.51. Cell 2 stays consistently on 3.49. this suspected faulty battery also too 244 mins to put into storage last week as opppsrd to 85 mins normally. is it faulty? Only had it 4 months and I use it once a week. I always put into storage after use and I always balance charge. bought at same time as anothr battery of the same make, voltage and capacity and that one is fine. many thanks
  7. Yeah sure I get what you are saying, thank you. please can you suggest a good grease I can use?
  8. Silicone oil is like grease tho, it's not runny, will this be ok?
  9. Yes please if you don't mind thank you. can I leave it out or should I put it in?
  10. Ok thanks, when you say sit against "one" of the output bearings... which one? And why not both? Only one came out when I dismantled the diff. Is it a crucial part? I dont see it on the exploded diagram attached here. appreciate the help as always.
  11. This is it. i can't see it on the exploded diagram either.
  12. Iv oiled inside the housing like this... is this correct?
  13. Hi all, after a full strip down and re build of the front diff on my hyper 7, I'm left with one yellow quite small washer!!! i just cannot remember where it came from! the washer is very thin, and there is no matching washer that iv missed, it's literally just one. will this matter at all? Will I fry the diff if I don't find where it came from?? Really hope not! thank you
  14. Hi all, I'm doing a full strip down and rebuild of the diffs in my hyper 7 as part of my brushless conversion project. iv re oiled inside the front diff, but what do I do inside the front diff housing? Do i oil this also? Or should the inside of the diff housing be dry and free from oil? Should the crown gear not have oil on it? i suspect it should but I thought I should check. obviously this won't apply to the centre diff as the diff housing is an open unit unlike the front and rear diff housing units. thank you.
  15. Hi all, making good progress with this project now. im now ready to buy the tray for the battery and ESC. Is the losi 8ight E the one to buy? Or are there any others worth looking at? What have people used? will I need to order from over seas? If so, where is reputable? thanks to everyone helping me with this project!!!!
  16. Really appreciate this pal!! do you have a link to your build thread please? also, the lower the kv of the motor means the higher voltage of the battery? Is that correct?
  17. Hi all, is there a way to countersink holes using a dremel? Is there such a thing for a dremel? iv googled it but I only seem to find drill bits and I'm not sure if they are suitable for a dremel. i need to drill the chassis on my hyper 7 and I want to countersink the holes. Just not sure what tool I need. Iv got a dremel so might as well try and make use of it. many thanks
  18. Is it from a losi 8ight? Why dont you like the ESC placement? yeah I'm ordering the motor mount from Daz.
  19. Gav I have a few questions if you don't mind? 1 - why is the front impact bar moved? 2 - what is the part next to the impact bar? There looks to be a marching blue one on the back. What are these parts? 3 - what is the white and red disconnected cable for coming from the receiver box? IGNORE THIS!! I think it's the on off switch... 4 - why is there no pinion gear? 5 - what ESC battery mount are you using? 6 - what motor mount are you using? 7 - from which Traxxas model is your receiver box from? 8 - what ESC and motor combo are you using? 9 - what battery are you using? 10 - how did you attach the Traxxas receiver box to the side guard? Self tappers? Do they pertrude on the underside? Or are they flush? 11 - what body shell do you use?
  20. Ah I see! Perfect. I assume your body shell still fits on with the receiver box being on the side plate like that? from which Traxxas model is that receiver box please? How did you attach the receiver box to the side guard? Presume you screwed through from underneath but are the holes counter sunk? also, what battery tray / ESC mount are you using and which motor mount is it please? the pic you attached is very helpful thank you.
  21. Thank you Daz. I shall buy from you. just a couple of questions... 1 - I don't have a motor yet therefore I don't know the shaft length. Will this matter? 2 - What is a motor fixing? You mention 3mm and 4mm. As I don't yet have a motor, which size do I need? could you maybe suggest a motor for me please? One that will fit right in with your motor mount? I see some sky rc motors on modelsport but the shaft length is saying only 5mm. Why so short?? This won't fit your mount will it? Or am I getting the shaft length and shaft diameter mixed up? many thanks Wayne
  22. Hi all, I need some help on choosing the correct motor mount for this project. i have not yet bought the motor, I'm wanting to get all the bits n bobs in place ready for adding the motor ESC and battery at the end. my first task was choosing the diff oil which iv now done, now I'm wanting to get the motor mount sorted. links to websites would be really appreciated. many thanks in advance.
  23. Sorry but when you say + careful throttle management, what do you mean? Do you mean taking it easy on accelerating?? How about... F = 3k C = 7k R = 5k im thinking of getting the Associated Factory Team Silicone Diff Fluids. See attached pic... Would this be ok?
  24. Hi all, My hyper 7 Brushless conversion is now well underway. iv now stripped the hyper 7 down. The next job I want to do is re oil all the diffs. ideally I want to use the same oil in the centre, front and rear diffs. Please could anyone share a link with me as to which diff oil I need to buy? This would be massively appreciated. here is how it's looking up to now im note taking and photo taking as I go along as I plan to write a detailed blog on the project.
  25. Did you have to drill extra holes? which Traxxas receiver box please? alao, does your body shell still fit?
