RCMonkee
Got me one of these just over a week ago and i have to say its great . Not flown much, had two Hubsan X4's but sold them as got fed up of soldering new motors in. Its alot easier to fly being a little bigger i found my flying improved more in a week than it did over months with the little Hubsan. Its looks flimsy but infact it has taken some hefty knocks, you just pick it up and off it goes again. The camera aint bad either for the price. Works off the remote to take images or video with the push of a button. I guess its easily swapable for something a little better maybe? Its far from a Phantom and a GoPro but as a cheap alternative i think its great Just make sure to buy some extra batteries as one just isnt enough! Anyone elso got one? Modded one? Any comments, tips welcome. Tamiyacowboy
it will take a little time as you get used to the sticks and also the reaction time the quad has. you will also learn to kick the aerilon when you get that ground effect scooting, it just takes time. one tip is forget about the camera, do not try and become a photographer and a pilot at once. focus on the flying and let the cam just see the view. practice practice practice
RCMonkee
Been getting some good practice. Smooth banked turns and some fun steep dives like a swooping seagull trying to nick your pasty! Though i may have spoken too soon as i got carried away and i think it must have gone out of range. It just seamed to lose signal and fell out the sky. I did checked the availabilty of spares and they should all be available. Hopefully get it for weekend if i order tonight! Its easy to work on too. The new leg comes with motor and wires all attached, one screw for the leg (or arm) and the wires just plug in. No soldering and fidley bits like the Hubsan i had before. RCMonkee
Took it out at lunchtime and put a few packs through it. Getting abit better but i did hit my mate filming lol. Sprayed the front rotors bright pink to which helps and removed the outer skin. Uploaded with ImageShack.com

RCMonkee
I bought some new batteries, didnt know if they would fit but they do . Little bit longer but they are 600mah and 35 - 70c. Just gave them a test (in the dark which was fun) and they are a great improvement. Also some pics of the little addition of the wide angle/fish eye lens attachment..... Tamiyacowboy
Good to see you guys enjoying the little mini quadcopters, will have to break out my Modded Jperkins twister quad ( its the same as yours without cam and the foamie shell ) been a good few since i flew her. I to also own those nanotech 600mah, DO NOT-DO NOT throw out that little 550mah battery, they are very sweet better than the stock batterys to. Props, you NEED to prop upgrade buddy, check out my quad thread i give out hints on the best props. the prop upgrade and a bearing upgrade will renew the beast and give it Moore power !! BUT be warned its more a nasty angry hornet than a nice buzzy bee. they will need balancing but is highly worth the upgrade. flips become more easy and catching them a doddle.
RCMonkee
So i have broken a few of the arms as they seem to split fairly easily. You have to buy the whole arm complete with motor etc but its not all needed. Decided to make my own arms and it worked perfectly. Got 1m of carbon fibre rod from local models shop. This was the closest size they had to the original. Removed the old arms. Pop the plastic cover off the motor end and remove the small screw, one on main board as well. Measure the rod and cut to the same length. Screw the new legs in, fasten the wires to the arms and thats it. Flies perfect The Square are the original ones, the round are the new. Wires have to go on the outside rather than inside but this makes it easier to work on.
