  1. I’ve been pretty happy with my Helion Avenge MT brushless. The front diff mount section has finally given way but this was combination of things - repeated front bumper first landings and a couple of nearly full speed direct hits with a concrete block! Other than that, two bearings have failed due to water and dust intake and also 1 of the front LEDs failed due to repeated direct hits to the front bumper. It’s been a long time since I bashed a truck - we still had crystals then and it was a nitro XTM Mammoth and Lipos didn’t exist. Im pretty impressed with the Avenge. Also on 3S it’s rapid! Cheers Ben
  2. Total thread resurrection here, but I've just bought one of these. They are nuts on 3s! Good fun. Already ordered the Schumacher uprated turnbuckle ends as the standard ones popped off even after a small roll. Brilliant fun. Looking forward to bashing and playing on BMX tracks and maybe even a race or two. Pictures to follow.
  3. Evening all I have just bought myself a Helion Avenge 10mt XLR as a reintroduction to RC's. Bear in mind my last ones were a nitro XTM Mammoth and a GS Storm - many things have changed since then. I used to frequent the Max Bashing do's at the track near Guildford. The biggest thing I have noticed is that there are no more crystals which makes life a lot easier! Originally when I discovered this site I was after a Losi FiveT but it was such a large outlay and also finding somewhere to run it was a bit of an issue. Anyway onto the truck. So far I have only run for about an hour on the 2 x 1800mAh NiMH batteries that came with it - 1 in the box and 1 bought at the same time. Sadly the run time was about 10 minutes on them and it was fairly slow. I have only run the truck in the garden on flat grass and at the local skatepark which was brilliant fun! I have just bought 2 5000mAh 3S lipos and a charger and I am very much looking forward to seeing what 3S is all about. A quick spin in the garden yesterday was just that on 3s, bloody quick! I'll get some photos up at some point and maybe even a video if I can work out how to do that. Looking forward to taking it up to the BMX track soon as 3S should be wikid fun. I'm genuinely impressed by the quality of the truck and radio gear, even though I am essentially a newbie and am only comparing it to a nitro truck from 15 years ago! Its been crashed right on the nose from about 8ft up and so far all that has happened is the sway bar at the front popped off its ball joint. Any info, hints, tips and ideas are much appreciated bearing in mind how new Lipos are to me too! I have never owned a hobby grade electric truck either as I moved into nitro from toy grade RCs Cheers Ben
  4. Hello all Having been registered since 2015 and originally looking to buy a Losi 5T, we bought a house instead and the whole RC thing fell by the wayside. Until today that is! A local model shop, Modellbau, had a good deal on a Helion RC Avenge 10mt XLR brushless. So far it looks like a really cool truck and I am very happy with it. Sadly the 1800mAh NiMH battery that comes with is it utter pants! 10 minutes run time against a 3 hour charge time!! First mods will be a Lipo set up, 2S or 3S, but I have no idea about Lipo's, so time to head back to the shop and chat to them about it. Looking forward to bashing the truck about and having fun at the BMX track. Cheers Ben
  5. Hello Rob. Hopefully I'll be up and running with a Losi 5T soon. How is Gosport BMX track for bashing?
  6. Well if the weather is good then I might pop up in the morning then. Thanks fella.
  7. Hello AJ, I'm looking to get into large scale. Would you mind if I popped down on wednesday for a chat? Weather dependant of course. Will more likely be early afternoon. I'm near Winchester so will drive up. Ben
  8. Hello all Ive just registered. Looking to get back into the hobby. I used to bash 1/8th monster trucks - XTM Mammoth and attempt to race a 1/8th buggy - GS Storm. I have been out of the hobby a while and I am thinking about going large scale with either an HPI Baja 5sc or a Losi 5T. Ive read all the threads that have been posted about the two and it seems I just have to make up my mind as to which one I want! I'm down in Hampshire so hopefully I'll be able to get up to a meet or two at Clanfield. Ben
