  1. Thanks guys, I think it's a gonner! Took it all apart, cleaned it etc and still nothing. Even when not connected to the wheels it still struggles - guess it's time to upgrade. Appreciate your time ?
  2. Hey, newbie here so please forgive any stupidity. Son has an HPI Firestorm E and the steering servo seems to have given up the ghost. Turns fine one way but the other it just kind of jerks and returns to the starting place. Is this the end of the servo or is there a way to repair - any advice welcome.
  3. Does this look like the sort of thing? I'm guessing we just pop it in and off we go? http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/331553531353 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Thanks again for the advice, we're out with the car most weekends so a great way to get out and about. Will have a look at some other motors and definitely need to get some oil - maybe that's where we were going wrong...oops!! Thanks again, really appreciate it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Cool, thanks for the advice Tamiyacowboy. The one that came with the truck is a 15 turned and we were really happy except the durability was poor. Will check out the site and see what options they have. Thanks again, really useful info. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Thanks evssv, appreciate your advice. Any suggestions out there for the decent brushed motor to replace HPI one? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Hmm, food for thought there. Only just bought 2 x 5000mah batts so would be a waste to now buy lipo's too. The car is my 10yo sons so don't need much in the way of speed - just a little more durability. Thinking brushless may be a little way off yet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. To be honest, I'm a bit (a lot) of a novice. I get the impression brushless is better, but more work to install? Any recommendations? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Brushed motor. Think you may be right with small stone. Removed motor etc and now runs, but doesn't seem to have the same power or instant speed it had before. Think maybe some damage done and may have to buy a new one. Guess a good reason to upgrade at the same time!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. ...and not in a good way! Son has an HPI Firestorm electric which is great, however he was using it today and the motor just started smoking like a chimney. I'm guessing that is pretty fatal, but only had since January - probably max 50 hours total use. Is that normal?
  11. Thanks again guys, think Firestorm it is. I'm sure I'll be asking advice on how to fix it soon enough.
  12. Thanks for the feedback guys, he likes it too (not essential as long as I do) so that's a bonus!! Think some shopping to be done soon.
  13. Hi all, still looking for the right electric rc car for my son (who is 10). I've been looking through reviews and the e-firestorm has some great reviews but as the 'flux' which is much faster than we (he) needs. Anyone have any experience / opinions of the below? Also what battery set up would you recommend? https://www.hpiracing.com/en/kit/105845 Thanks again!!
  14. Thanks all, look like some pretty cool pieces of kit!! Will have a look at some prices over the wknd. Been reading up of lipo batteries and think that sounds like the way to get some good running time.
  15. Hi all, I'm new here and after some expert advice...which is where you come in! I'm looking for an electric off road rc car for my son, I bought him one when he was 4 and it has finally given up the ghost. Looking at around the
