  1. I think a lot of folk are elitist, arrogant and condescending. As you say everyone is entitled to an opinion.
  2. Indeed each to their own, but posting that something is "crap" is hardly a live and let live attitude is it. ?
  3. I've had mine since December 2016, and the only thing to be replaced is the ESC which Modelsport did within the first couple of weeks. Apart from that it's stock and still going strong on 2S, with just the bodywork a bit scarred! I think a lot of it is more to do with peoples mindset that "it's cheap so I'll drive it like an idiot", after of course sticking the fastest motor in it they can. Also how many bog standard Yetis are out there for instance, from the threads on here it would appear they get upgraded just as much .... and at nearly twice the starting price I know which strikes me as better value.
  4. Like the red and black scheme. Possibly my favorite combo on any car. I'm not a fan of checker plate on Landies although if you eventually want 'beat up' then it's probably more suited to that. Oh and on that front (and not wanting to teach anyone to suck eggs) when it comes to adding rust, remember to keep away from the aluminium panels
  5. Ever since I learnt to drive in my Dads Series IIA *cough* years ago, I've always wanted an orange SWB pickup. Apart from being a defender, this is pretty much my dream made real ... besides not actually being the real thing of course. I might just have to settle for a scale version though I doubt I could match the quality of work shown here.
  6. This is so much more impressive than the far more common "look at the expensive 3rd party bits I've just bolted to my car" threads. Loving it !
  7. Problem is I'd much rather weld stuff like this, as I have all the necessary gear. I have done soldering with copper brake pipe in the past for a different project, but fount it to be rather hit and miss. At least when welding you don't run the risk of separating joints you've already made, which happened to me a lot! Really annoying thing is just over a year ago when we moved house I scrapped a load of "come in handy one day" stuff from my garage, including probably 20ft of small steel tube
  8. Fantastic workmanship. Where do you get your tube? Seems easy to get in the States as they still use steel for automotive brake lines, seems to be far more uncommon in the UK though.
  9. If I can butt in with my 2p worth. My local place has the Coyote showing in stock on their website. https://www.modelmaniacs.co.uk/cars-vehicles/cars-trucks-ep/cars-trucks-ready-to-run/carisma-scale-adventure-sca-1e-coyote-rtr-ca77768 Also have you considered the ECX Barrage? An FTX Outback under a different name, but comes with a separate Receiver and ESC as standard. So upgrading the ESC does not mean more expense on new RC gear. https://www.horizonhobby.com/product/storefronts/water-resistant-cars-and-trucks/ecx-brand/19-4wd-barrage-brushed--rtr-ecx01009 There is also an updated version that includes the features of the V2 Outback which comes in kit form if you fancy building it with your son. https://www.horizonhobby.com/product/storefronts/electric-cars-and-trucks/ecx-brand/1-12-19-4wd-barrage-brushed--kit-p-ecx01011 or a horrible looking RTR version https://www.horizonhobby.com/product/storefronts/electric-cars-and-trucks/ecx-brand/1-12-19-4wd-barrage-doomsday-brushed--rtr-p-ecx01010 If the look of the barrage does not suit then any of the Outback bodies would fit. If it were me I'd go the Barrage Kit route as you get the added fun of building the thing which will get you familiar with it for maintenance etc.. Youtube review of the kit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sb4ZYBtdAhY Anyway, just a few more options. Graham
  10. Having bought a Barrage and not used it much and now an improved kit version is arriving I think this time I will be patient .... unless, maybe, Christmas arrives before the Carisma kit version!
  11. Even though I have been too busy with other stuff to use any of my 3 current RCs for many months now, I really do fancy that Carisma. Probably hold out for the kit version.
  12. Umm. I have a set of those bought for a different application. But on checking they are actually narrower than the extenders fitted originally to the FTX, so will actually make the track narrower as you have to remove the original items to fit them. Or am I missing something?? Perhaps I'm finding the wrong item on Ebay?
  13. Already have a servo on order for when that time comes. Pretty sure I can knock up a mount for it.
  14. And arrived about an hour ago via DPD, even though I chose the Free, 4 day service. So far I can't fault Wheelspin's service. Impressed so far. Out of the box it tackled and cleared a short rock course in my garden that my bog standard Scout faired no better on.
