  1. Hello,

I’m getting interested again in 1/10 touring cars after a break of ten years. Sold a Hot Bodies Cyclone which I loved using. But looking at Modelsport website there seems to be a huge lack of variety of touring electric 1/10th scale cars around now. Any reason for this and what cars are now considered the most competitive in terms of chassis, motors, esc, batteries and tyres?

  2. Hi Andrew -- apoligies for this sooo late reply -- didn't get an email that one had been posted from forum. Hopefully You are sorted out by now but am keen to sell the lot really. New price too: £170.

  3. Hot Bodies Cyclone - Any Moore Championship Edition Hi All,

Reluctantly, I am selling my Hot Bodies Cyclone -- the Andy Moore Championship version.

    The sale comes complete with:

    Chassis

Four sets of wheels and tyres (used condition)

Speed Passion Brushless 10.5 Turn motor

Speed Passion "Grantourismo" Brushless ESC and ESC program unit (very useful!)

    Receiver unit (not transmitter)

2 batteries (including a4200 Stick NiMH pack)

    Few other bits and bobs

The underside of the chassis does have some minor scuff marks after I tested the set up on a road for three minutes. I would consider these to be relatively minor.

Asking Price for the lot: £190 + £15 courier delivery.

  4. Hi all,

My batteries have been left unused for three months, they are Intellect SC TZ Power 4200 ones (non LiPo). I have plugged them into my usual charger to get the cars running again but they are not charging it seems ... even the slow charging light is not operating. The charger seems ok though. Any advice, ideas?

  5. Hi All,

What's the best way to "skim" the motor myself, without buying an expensive lathe or the hassle of going to a model shop?

Took my SST out today for the first time with the Tamiya Subaru bodyshell and had massive amounts of fun. There was a temporary hitch in proceedings when the pinion decided to run off the motor, but soon found it and refitted it.

One thing though, the motor got VERY hot. It's a Reedy 12T Kr one ... what do you guys use to cool the motor?

  6. Agreed.. those that say they are "waterproof" are merely splash-proof. which means a couple of drops of water coming off the tyres once in a while won't do any harm if it lands on the ESC , but if you drive through a puddle or park the car in deep melting snow & leave it switched on, then it will fry in an instant.

the way they get round it of course is they don't say "100% waterproof" so chances are they will not be properly waterproof ESC's... that is what they will say at least if you try to argue the case.

I'm sure I saw a video of an ESC running a motor with the ESC completely submerged in a tank of water a few years ago...

  7. Is it me or are they a nightmare? I had a strange sound from the one on my Schumacher SST so took it apart to investigate and discovered some of the billions of washers inside had dislodged themselves from their positions and trapped themselves between the magnets and the wound bundle of wires. Any advice to keep modified motors running well with minimum maintenace?
