I’m in Barnham now but the pits at Slindon are definitely not available for us to use!
Halnaker windmill is fine or you can use Slindon Woods - there is a section with jumps and even an area that works like a track, but you have to be careful of the mountain bikes.

Can the new VXL genuinely handle 3s?
The old one could! I still run 3S on my both mine Slash 4x4 - have done since I got first one 2 and 1/2 years ago and the new one at beginning of this year! Not even bothered changing gearing on new one and its fine. Yes I do get some red lights now and then on the ESC, but quick off and then back on and all good. I did put fans on both right away and run telemetry so if it gets over 150 I stop it to cool down a bit - that may be how I have had them last!!
-
Stock with 3S I got 51, with a pinion change I got 60 and frankly it was way too fast. Put back to around 50 and depending on length of run is fast enough and still controllable!! 3S and 50mph is good fun and fast.

Lol @RCB yeah that's me and Bruce, at Madam Tus. I think I look more like him now I've lost some more weight!
I fixed it, I reset the TQi and all was well. I adjusted the slipper clutch and made sure all was good and then did quick check over.
Thanks.

My first Slash 4x4,(not ultimate one) is playing up. Speed halved, still original ESC, motor and gearing (13/54). Makes a rattling noise either with driveshaft at rear or near gearing/motor. May take video if that helps? Hitting 27mph on the iPhone speed telemetry.
Tried checking gearing, slipper clutch, but nothing done there fixes it. When pulling throttle the esc flashes green, but not sure if it usually does it, not checking on ultimate version yet.
Any ideas? Thanks.

Oh, and ESC fan added. Was pleasantly surprised to find she had the Alu bearing adapter already, but then she is the ultimate! Just means I have a spare.

I've had my slash 2 years and still on the original vel spec - I changed the pinion to 16 and temps been good on 3s. I was expecting it to go, but it keeps on going...
The combo recommended was what I heard everyone saying so would be my choice, it must be a trusted replacement.

My MS bits have arrived - esc fan, spare alu bearing adapter and battery expansion kit. Just need the truck now!
Using my other one for now.

Cheers buddy, ordered from msuk. Let's hope it's here for some 3s bashing @ the weekend! Bring on the rain !
Did you get the 3s in the car?
-
I've just ordered the fan, the aluminium bearing adapter just in case and the battery expansion kit (LCG version). Ordered through MS with standard delivery - probably come before car!
-
Do you know if the Platinum has the Aluminium bearing adapter as factory fit? It will be same in my Ultimate then and I'd like to know as to whether I need to make the order for one or not. I suppose it won't hurt having another just in case!\
Also, how much have you altered the slipper clutch from tight?
-
Should fit fine based on this: https://www.rcplanet.com/v/vspfiles/assets/images/batteryguide.jpg

You need the Slash LCG expansion kit which is TRA7426XSo, have I bought the wrong battery? I can't see the 2878 8400mah on my instructions or anything about the extension kit.
Get it here: http://www.modelsport.co.uk/index.php?product_id=372846&gclid=COCes_L9iL4CFSoTwwodDbcANA
I had to get a version of it (older type) for my other slash. Thinking about it though, that battery may still struggle to fit due to size needed of 8300mah!
I need to order the expansion kit and esc cooling fan, hopefully the Ultimate and Platinum has the upgraded aluminium bearing adapter - if not, get that too!

You got the extra shell on top of the saving? Did you order it on top or was it thrown in?

Nice

Oh OK. I like the Traxxas ones as I love their telemetry. First Slash 4x4 with old chassis, I bought phone holder part and telemetry and added it myself - wish I got the Ultimate then as it could have saved me some money!
Can't believe its coming up 2 years since I got my first Slash! http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/topic/151485-didskis-slash-4x4-plus-upgrades/ - shows I've had the 3S coming up 2 years too!
I've had the Nano battery lump almost a year and not used it either! http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/topic/171965-someone-stop-me/
-
Is it the weight that worries you? Do you use other 3s?
Yeah, I love 3S with the cars stock electrics - hasn't let me down...yet! Where's the wood!!!
I have one of these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/271224487098 - Overlander Lipo Batteries 6500mAh 3S 11.1v 25C Hard Case which I use all the time in it currently.
Great thing with your Platinum is that you can do whatever you want as you put the elecs and motor in.

It's such a heavy lump though, not sure whether to sell mine as not used and to get smaller one. Afraid it may cook my standard elecs!

Tower Hobbies. Used the nice $51 discount code too.

I wouldn't buy one either, but when they are given away!
SMC called and they can't get the Lipo version, nor can MS. Looks like its an import to get the L or just go for R and stick with my Overlander and Nano-Tech batteries. Anyone remember the import fee that is added to the 20% VAT?
-
No price difference and I get a battery I can use with the Lipo 2S included in the L, I will never use the NIMH and still have an unused one from the 6808 I bought! Makes sense to have a

So that’s quite an open route. The place I go is further to the right. It’s above the A27, below the A27 and left of the sand pits. I’ve attached a couple of pictures of what the area looks like (ignore my bike!) 😃. Plenty of jumps, open areas, the lot!
The map shows the sand pits, the path to the left is where you go and you can’t miss it. The entrance of the path you can easily miss! There are many ways in though, free parking nearby too.
