  1. I've been doing this too many years to worry But it doesn't honestly matter to me how many sell or don't sell I'm merely reporting back my finding's on this Brand New model, and type of design Good or Bad That's all I would ever do And no matter the outcome, No matter the sales after my finding's They would still be honest And exactly as I've found them to be But like I keep saying I'm more than happy for ANYONE to Come along, Look it over, Take it in bits if wanted, And give it a dam good thrashing Then make up their own mind from there
  2. Yeah cheers Buddy Love you too I'm glad you got wet at the nationals this weekend now But God yeah that was many many moons ago (awaits the photo's )
  3. I've kinda already explained that in a post a few minute's ago Bud But a lot of it does come down to Contributing so much of myself to the rc community over the years Plus a lot of Knowledge & help that I've passed on along the way More than anything it comes down to Respect, Respect for me, My knowledge, Integrity, And honesty And knowing that I would, and have given a full & honest opinion of the truck Which above all else, Will be totally unbiased And straight to the point Had someone from Rcmodelz come to you and told you that this was the best thing in the world, And you should spend your hard earned money on it Then you might not have been so happy to do so But as much as I'm happy to tell you all this And happy for you to check up on me as much as you'd like If people don't wish to believe me, Then that's totally a personal choice
  4. The thing is a lot of you don't know me And I wouldn't expect you to follow me around to know But I've been in this game a VERY long time And very well respected in the community Feel free to look up TEAM MODEL INC Speak with NICK the Admin of this forum, We are Very close friends Speak with Rover Man (Dave) as to who I am If you know the UK Baja forum, I was one of the four that started that up together I took a step back from forum's for a while, But NOT from the Hobby
  5. A lipo in the same size would fit Yes the stock clutch carrier is still on the G290 It's not the smaller Losi sized profile
  6. NOPE Totally as they come, And will be coming They do sell them in an RTR version, G290 Zenoah No brand servos, But EXACTLY the same spec as the Roller's that are coming It's purely credit where credit's due If it was Crap Then that's the way the thread would be going I'm nothing if honest Yeah totally comfortable explaining I've been shopping there for many years, And having been doing rc for so many years, An my experience with them, and group's, forum's, club's, racing, and bashing, They offered me the chance to do this and give an honest opinion of the product, Whether I even thought it was worth giving it a chance in this market place I most certainly don't have any part in it, And certainly don't get ANY kick back's for doing this, (especially not for all the time I spend helping other's and passing on the information ) Other than the opportunity to get to do it, And the fun it's been doing it That's all I get I would love to tell you there's loads of crap this & that, But there just isn't And whether that seems a little strange, There's little I can do about that too If I had to be extremely picky.... When I first got my hands on it, I thought that the body felt quite a hard plastic and would be brittle, But it's not been I felt the light pods on the top would be the first thing's that would get ripped off, And it's been crashed about and rolled plenty, And they've not broken off either On one of the rear sway-bar trailing arms, One of the logos is upside down When I saw the tyres, I thought they'd not be very good, And they've been good all over the place, If anything, the side profile is too square, I prefer a rounder side profile, But that's my personal choice, There's nothing wrong with them as a tyre I think the servo tray holes where the servo wires come in are too low to the chassis But in all honesty I'm having to be hyper picky just to find anything
  7. Any stock sized battery will fit into the tray (normal 6 C-cell size/shape) I personally used a 3300 mah Orion battery pack, Which I charge up before each outing These one's coming are ALL Roller's There is only this one RTR one that came over for testing You're very welcome
  8. Only Rcmodelz themselves know that Shoot them an email or call them tomorrow to see if they've a Figure for you
  9. No far from it matey The Dragon will do Rock Crawling if you want (yes I've tried ) And it will absolutely do rough terrain, But it certainly doesn't have to do it 'Slowly' And the Losi/ X2 is NOT better everywhere else, Because the Hammer will do that EQUALLY as well as the 5ive/X2 can So while the 5ive/X2 is currently the top of the pile, It now has some Very serious competition Which can only be great fun for us all
  10. Same day, Different camera man, EXACTLY the same Cars and set ups
  11. This is it Totally stock As it comes out of the Box Stock setting's Stock oils Stock engine & exhaust can (RTR) So this (Apart from the G290) is EXACTLY as they will ALL come out of the box
  12. Hi Fella We've ran them together right from the start of testing The Losi 5ive/X2 are an absolutely fantastic truck Quite easily the current Top Dog But where we run it has it's limitations over the Really rough stuff, It doesn't have Huge ground clearance, And gets bottomed out, or stuck in some of the really rough ruts If it's what's classed as a 'Normal' race track, Or the likes of a BMX track, Then the 5ive fly's But the Hammer is equally as good, and at home on those same track's Now get the 5ive on the really rough off road ground, And it does struggle at times, With the Hammer you don't ever get that In fact I've actually struggled to find Anything to slow it down, Very little gets in it's way You don't need to think to yourself 'Will this spot be usable' or 'Is it going to be too Rough' You can just throw it out and go! So is one much more articulate than the other? Yes..... The hammer will go Everywhere and much more than a 5ive or a Baja ever can Is one more stable than the other? If it's a track, then No.....They'r Equally as Good If it's really Rough.... Then the Hammer is more Stable hands down Is one quicker than the other? As stock, straight out the box, On stock gearing, And in the off road and on road drag races we've done, They're very closely matched Of course that could be altered with gearing on either model At the bottom of my Signature is a YouTube link to NWRCC There's a lot of the video's from our club Including the Hammer's testing And it running with other model's in the group For the handling against other's look for the one filmed by Neil Leigh
  13. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised if you got to drive one And if you're close enough to me, Please feel free to give me a shout and pop up I'm more than happy for anyone to come and give it a go for themselves I understand it's counter intuitive to think that the solid rear axle will work as well as it does, But honestly it works fantastically We've seasoned racers in our local club (including myself with 1/8th scale Losi/Team Magic buggies/Truggies & 1/5th scale MCD, Losi, Baja's) And Every single one of them has been Extremely impressed with the way it goes and Handles And really pleasantly surprised with how it just soaks up the terrain Can I get it to skip it's rear end up, Sure Does it do it over everywhere, NO Not in the slightest There really is so much articulation, and movement, to actually hardly see the body move As it goes along and you look at it, the main body looks stationary, Because the suspension works so well at just soaking it all up, That the body itself hardly moves around Weight wise, It's lighter than my X2 But heavier than a Baja But as I say If there's ANYONE that's close enough, and would like a go, or to give it a good checking over for themselves, Either before purchasing one Or just because they fancy having a go Then contact me You're more than welcome to come for a viewing
  14. I don't off the top of my head But I'll find out for you shortly
  15. You can pretty much convert the dollar sign straight across into Pound Sterling http://www.davesmotors.com/Search-Page/?search=kv770 What's Alloy on a Losi 5? Chassis Shock tower's So pretty much everything else is Plastic isn't it? But I'll agree they are Great model's I've loved my Losi's for years And still have most of them
  16. a KM X2 is £600 (all plastic now) a KM 001 is £350 (all plastic) That's £950 Granted they're RTR But you would be getting thing's in that RTR package (servos, radio gear, & engine's) that you would remove and upgrade The Dragon is £850 But EXTREMELY highly specced straight away At this spec level, it's not really pitched at the basic end of the market These are Not your entry level type of vehicle And as such they're much higher up the ladder than your base KM 001 Baja's So the type of people that will be looking at these are more likely to have their own stuff Or have their own preference towards what they'd want in it And if you'd like to start looking at prices for this type of truck, Of which there's only really two choices currently, How much stuff can you buy for the price of a 'Roller' kraken at £1400? Which is looking like it'll then need a Zenoah G320 - £220 Hitec 1000 - £400 Radio gear etc etc But currently this is the spec the way the Hammer's will come That's not to say that once they've taken off that they might not be able to do a 'lower' spec more plastic version in the future if there's call for it down the line It does honestly surprise me when people keep saying it's OVER Specced, It's usually quite the reverse that you hear from people In all honesty, when you look at a Losi 5ive roller for £799 That's at best 80% plastic (Including all the internal diff cases) You don't hear people pulling their faces so much and saying, 'Blummin heck, it's going to cost me another £2k to get this upto mostly alloy parts' At the end of the day, Not everyone will want to buy this Not only price wise, They just might not like the style of the truck And all that's cool
  17. Sounds like a reasonable plan to me
  18. And Scotty I would almost put good money on the fact you'd love every moment of it I know that sometime next week Rcmodelz will be putting up the listing for the first Dragon's They'll be available to put a Deposit on to Secure your own, And then pay the rest when they arrive (Which won't to be long) Or you can buy one Outright, with a discount or store credit I believe (Although I'm not sure exactly how much of either that is )
  19. Absolutely SPOT ON This is going to be another branch off on the Rc Tree A personally, I see it being a very Exciting one
  20. Well if you're Happy for me to report honestly, Then take my word for the Quality of the Hammer I'm not the sort of person that beats around the Bush And will always be honest with people, Often to my own detriment But if it was Crap, then that's the way I would have reported back, Had it been poor quality, Or I'd had any issues or breakages, Then I would have been honest and reported those too I don't see Any point in hiding thing's, bigging them up, or saying thing's are better than they are, I'll just throw it ALL out there, Good or bad And let the community form their own opinions And trust me, Just because I'm the only one in the UK that's got one, I'm far from the only one that's been given the chance to drive it, rag it, and pore all over it And ANYONE that's seen it, or driven it has loved it and gone away with a smile on their faces And ALL of them said they'd have one in a heartbeat The only negative comments I ever heard were, It's too highly specced and they can't put their own mark on it, Which I have to say I can understand And secondly, One of the lads didn't like the style of the body shell, But absolutely Loved the car itself So would prefer a more shortcourse body style instead
  21. Well that's your Opinion Bud And of course everyone has one, and that's totally fine I've never had any issues with their stuff And can only tell you the result's I've got from the testing / abusing I've given to their car
  22. It's not! It's nothing like that cheap rubbish :D A lot of people already spend a LOT of money on FID parts to upgrade their Losi 5 or X2's Or DBXL It's the very same stuff and company So they know what they're making :-) They already make perhaps 80% of the parts for those cars as upgrades So they're well versed with making Quality Alloy parts :-) What they've now done is move that one step further and built up a full car of their own So knowledge wise they're well up there with what's needed to make a Great bit of kit that will stand up to us idiot's :-D
  23. You do know that the Kraken Vekta 5 is apparently 'made' in Tiwain Don't you? Not America? Kraken is based in the USA but not producing the car As for people asking about the Cable throttle I've had ZERO issues It's a lovely smooth pull And very responsive :-) When the car first came I ran it straight from the box Just so I could know exactly what would and wouldn't work An what if anything cause any issues :-) Now after a particularly dirty mucky outing, the slide in the cable felt a little gritty to me, Hadn't stopped it working perfectly But I wasn't happy with it's smoothness So I sprayed GT85 down the cable ends And that did the trick straight away :-) So can it get muck & grit into it, sure, Is it an issue Not one that's stopped the car A simple spray with lube and you're all good :-) Now had I done it from stock I would probably have put a bit of grease or Vaseline on the end of each opening, just to keep it dirt free :-) But that's simple enough to do And stuff we all do on other bits anyway :-)
