    Hey everyone ,

Im in this area, and i had secret track built on the old stanton ironworks  land but pretty sure it would be gone now due to the recent development

im gonna  start a new one as soon as i have found a decent location, (v soon)....as i prefer to develop a spot locally rather than drive around looking for them

il post the location on here once its up and running and your welcome to come help or just bash some laps out!

That sounds great. Admittedly I haven't taken the cars out for a good while, but still on the lookout for good spots and would definitely be up for coming along if you manage to find a new location!

    Hey,

Thanks for this! I already knew about the spot next to the Newdigate arms, but the others look great! Have you ever had any issues at these locations? I can imagine the one near Rolls-Royce being quite well patrolled as it looks like land that is being expanded into?

Yeah I did try a couple of weeks ago. They had put plastic fences up in one area (which looked great) and signs saying trespasses will be prosecuted etc. So didn’t bother. There was a little bit of waste land on the actual path, however I wouldn’t bother unless you lived close.

Damn, that's a shame. The video doesn't seem to be working btw...

That route 67 goes straight through the area so it’s easily accessible. Haven’t explored much off the track but I’ve seen people around there so not sure how much is fenced off, if it is at all. Worse case you can just smash it near the cycle track area so it won’t be a complete waste of time. If I pop down I’ll let you know what it’s like.

Sounds good! Did you manage to get down there at all? I've been a bit busy so haven't had time to take the cars out 😕

Pretty same question I was going to ask 😆

I know that area you mentioned in Ilkeston,  the coal works and was there a few weeks ago.

Been to Shepshed bmx track but it was a bit brutal on the car.

Was wondering about the 'desert at Mansfield,  don't if you can still go there but I've never been,  anyone know ?.

I had not heard of "Mansfield Desert" until now. I had a quick look but couldn't find where it is. Was just looking at the map around Mansfield and saw this place: https://goo.gl/maps/jGGV7mvuZtc9jQ4s8 Not sure if it is the "desert", but looks exactly like the kind of thing I am after.

That is nearly an hour away from me though, but looks like it might be worth a trip to every now and again!

Wasn’t sure if it would be frowned upon to go to places like Elvaston castle, I was looking at more spots of the beaten track. Didn’t want to upset folk and their dogs etc. Will have a look cheers.

Yeah, I personally wouldn't touch Elvaston Castle with anything RC, electric or not. That's a bit too antisocial for me, even as a nitro lover haha.

Do you know Stanton ironworks near Ilkeston, there’s a place around there where people use quad bikes etc. Was going to have a look there to see what it’s like.

I actually stumbled upon this place when I was randomly trawling Google maps for places. I think I discounted it because it looked like it was fenced in. Could be worth a shot if there is a way in though!

  7. Before - Make sure you get the correct fuel, start your carb needles from factory settings and don't skimp on batteries just because it's nitro. On the latter point, some nice rechargeable batteries for your TX and a good hump pack for the RX. Not sure which receiver comes in the Jato, but make sure you've got a failsafe if you don't have one built into the RX.

During - Warm the engine up slowly, don't full throttle the thing straight away. I personally don't like storing cars with fuel in them for a number of reasons, so use the fuel you put in it, I will mention the main reason below,

After - After run oil or similar. Nitro fuel attracts moisture, which unaddressed will corrode your engine internals. After use, take your glow plug out, drop in 5 drops of after run oil, glow plug back in, spin the engine over. I have been known to do a few drops into the carb too as I have taken apart a number of engines that have corrosion on the crank. My 3.3 included.

Hope that helps and hope you're enjoying the visceral experience that is nitro :)

Is the airfield in Ashbourne accessible/feasible to you.  I know there is model plane flying from there so maybe room for rc cars?

Thanks for the suggestion, however I am looking for something more along the lines of disused quarry/random pieces of land rather than a club :)

  9. Hey guys,

I am looking for some casual bashing spots around Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire. I've seen a few threads on here regarding the same subject but they are all quite old, so thought I would start a new one.

I have been up to the old coal storage bits in Ilkeston a couple of times. American adventure, though would have been awesome, now appears to be under development so is inaccessible. I know of a couple of BMX tracks, which are great as long as there is no one around. Would really appreciate anyone sharing their spots!

    Locations

I will be updating this list as people make suggestions 🙂

  10. This is a hard question to answer. For me I took an interest in cars from a very young age. Strange because neither of my parents or close family members were really "car people". I guess from my interest in cars came my interest in RC cars. I believe my first RC car was the Nikko Jumping Car in the mid to late 90s, I also had a couple of smaller random RC cars. From memory, I wanted to get into larger and better RC cars, but used to live in London it wasn't really feasible. I was also interested in models, particularly of aircraft, meccano, Scalextric and all that kind of thing. When I was about 13 we moved down to Dorset which peaked my interest in all the things I could do outside that I couldn't previously. Naturally, still not being able to drive a real car, I found the prospect of nitro RC fascinating. I got a HPI Rush Evo for Christmas I think the first year we were in Dorset. A couple of years later I got a Savage 25 that I put quite a lot of money into. I dabbled in a couple of electric cars at the time, did a bit of drifting etc, then a couple of years later sold all my RC stuff when I got a "real car". Since then, I hadn't touched RC until about a month ago, so a good 10+ years or so. Really been enjoying being back in the hobby, despite being more conscious of the anti-social nature of nitro RC that maybe I didn't pay much attention to when I was younger!

  11. Hey guys,

I sold all my RC gear about 15 years ago and hadn't thought about it since. I recently had the urge to get back into it, mainly because of lockdown, like many I guess. I used to own a Savage 25 (with Axial .28), Rush Evo and a few other things and saw a Savage 25 up for sale that I couldn't refuse. Got that up and running and the itch got me again a few weeks later when I picked up a T-MAXX 3.3 for a bit of a bargain as well. I'm based in Nottingham so looking for some good spots for some casual bashing. Hopefully I can also be a useful member on the forum too! See you around.
