  1. You dont need to spend anywhere near 160 quid, especially if its for your kid. I would recommend a WL toys 144001. I have one and its plenty fast, but small & fairly durable, easy for a novice user. And you can pick one up for £67 on Banggood

Thanks James. Will be even better if I could find aluminium upgrades! Unfortunately most of what I'm finding is for the new 2.0 VXL edition😡

You're welcome bud. And ah yes I can imagine that trying to find parts for older models is a bit irritating. I suppose ebay could be a good place for used parts, but it's a gamble on the condition of them. Anyway best of luck👍

welcome James, I too recently got 144001, was having fun until I decided to upgrade my transmitter and the new esc I got keeps switching to limp mode,so if you do upgrade don't get hobbywing 1060 esc 👍

Thanks mate 👍 and ah nice one. Oo bummer about the esc, you got one that works a bit better now?

I lived in Southsea for the most part.

It is stunning up here, and a much slower pace of life. Luckily I've invested in some good waterproof gear🤣

Oh nice. I'm often working down that way, or shopping if the other half drags me down there! 😋

Yeah i bet it's lovely & chill. And you can get some decent property for the money up there too, can't you?

  7. Hey, my name's James, i'm 25 and from a lovely little rural village called Finchdean, in Hampshire. About 10 miles from Portsmouth

I've been into RC cars since I was about 8 years old. Got my first hobby grade car at 12, which was an HPI Rush Evo.  Pretty good car to be honest. Plenty fast for me back then.  2 years later I replaced that with a Team Losi LST2. Awesome bit of kit. Haven't really been into the scene for the last 10 years, but watched some videos on Youtube (mostly Kevin Talbot) and really fancied getting back into it .

I Just bought myself a WL Toys 144001 and loving it. It's excellent for the money. Only paid £65!

Can't wait to get myself another 1/8 scale model. Probably some kind of truggy. Either that or attempt to  get my LST up & running again and tear up my local offroad track.

Anyway, that's a little bit about me. I used to be a member on this forum when I was alot younger but god knows what my account name or password was, haha.

But It's nice to be back and I look forward to becoming part of this community.

    Cheers
