There are alot of knowledgeable people on here that'll be able to give you answers to all your questions (i'm sure at least one of them will see this thread soon).

But I can at least tell you that if you're gonna go down the brushless route & buy a new brushless motor then 100% you should buy some new  good quality lipos to run it with, plus a new  suitable ESC and transmitter/reciever.

Today I cut a hole in the bodyshell of my WL 144001 so that I can connect/disconnect the battery & turn the car on/off without having to remove the body every time.

 

 

Then I took it out for a spin on my local jumps and snapped my wing off on the first hit!

 

 

Lost the top part of it somewhere 😋
