I’ve not noticed the motor getting hot so far and even after about 20 speed runs it was only warm, looking at what others run on a 4274 motor, we’re a long way off stressing it but I’ve also decided the DR8 isn’t for outright speed, so I’ve been building another 1/8 buggy based speed machine, road tires etc, so the DR8 will stay with the smaller pinions and try the larger ones on the buggy.
the tires did balloon on the speed runs but not as bad as I thought, they did a good job considering they aren’t ideal for 60mph+
When I used the 17t with mine it got Red hot, but I may of had another issues at the time like knackered diff bearings?

If you have a 3 channel receiver you can buy a small switch that plugs inline with the led light bars. You can then switch the lights on/off with the handset.

Ah ok, I'm happy with what i paid considering it included the 2 6s batteries, it looks new, looking forward to take it for a proper run, weather is terrible at the minute
Has anyone upgraded the stock 12T pinion?
Yes I put a 17T on back last summer, it's a ballistic missile, but motor gets dangerously hot very quickly. Pretty sure from memory I pulled the stock tyres from the rims pretty quickly as well.. good fun tho.

Ah bummer, well if the drive shafts are same length i guess it could still be done? All be it a bit more expensive. I suppose you could always upgrade to the metal hopups if you wanted to do that.

I cant really say specifics it was only a quick look with the lids off side by side.. but they were very similar. Next time I see the guy who has it ill have a closer look . Its a friend of a friend.

Hi there dr8 gang, has anybody confirmed what parts from The arrma fit yet? I'm after the front Steering hub carriers as i sent it on some lituraly insanse jump and it broke, there out of stock everywere too and not expected till may, thats way too long
I reckon the Arrma Typhon ones will fit. I've not tried them tho. Only £10 so might be worth a punt
How have they broke?, Just out of interest ?

Hello, my name is Ruud, im from the Netherlands .
I have the reely raptor for a year now and i must say, its pretty solid, unfortunately there are not much aluminium parts.
So i orderd this, https://m.nl.aliexpress.com/i/32215039954.html and with a little creativity it fits great.
I think that way there will be a lot of parts can be found.
Sorry for my bad writing
The 1/8 zd pirates metal rear hubs should also fit the DR8 I 3d printed a cloned version of the zd hub to check it and they are identical. I've ordered a set of the aluminium zd hubs. I'll upload some pics when they arrive... May be a small delay if they are coming via the suez cannel 😉

Hi mate, other the the hinge pin brace it's a well solid car. Definitely order a metal replacement and put it straight on .
Mine has taken some pretty hard hits. It just keeps going.
I've changed my bearings to rubber seal, however they are all one size throughout the whole car so that's an easy job. I also made a gasket between the diff houses and chassis to prevent water ingress. Arrma vehicles also suffer with that issue. But as far as reliability goes it's been great!!
well impressed!

Reely do a buggy based on the same chassis...looks great fun also!!
Here is the part number for the shock tower wing mount. it should fit the DR8 for those of you wanting a decent place to mount a wing. Only problem is the shipping cost. i have had a look but cant find it cheaper anywhere else.

current state of my DR8.
The Arrma wheels are a new edition, only one run old. I lost the poor driver trying to clear a road gap.
I recognise a few users names from comments on my youtube vidz. Hello!
This car has been abused since I rebuilt it. It has soaked up everything. super stoked about that!!
It now has some extra free-play in the arms and hubs now so I might refresh it for the spring.
