I think a mixture is surfaces would be good.
The track in this video look, has pretty much every component mentioned above plus different surfaces.
Apologies, I’m not sure how to embed the video.

The Schumacher CAT L1 EVO looks like another good choice

Been thinking about this myself, I’ve been looking at the TLR 22x-4

Is yours DCT or manual?
SO, nice very nearly went with that colour but there’s an X2 in our road in the same colour so couldn’t have the same, mine’s DCT -

Beautiful. Was suppose to pick mine up end of March, but had to back out of the purchase due to Covid-19. Second time I've tried to buy a M2 Comp.
Hopefully third time lucky.
unlucky Leo, I imagine there’s a few in the same position. They’re such a great package out the box. -

Not all post offices are closed, so could try another if there’s one in reasonable distance or get a courier collection.

Not really, there may be something on Oople, but last time I looked that place was dead. The BRCA website or FB is your best bet
Yes looked at that one and you’re right pretty much dead. Not much on the BRCA either, just information. I’m not a farcebook user unfortunately.

Are there any discussion boards where most of the chat takes place around the various 1/8 competitions in the UK?

Never used gens myself but they do seem to have a fairly good rep as i recall, all comes down to price I guess I imagine the Opti is more expensive due to the extra mah. Also remember that increasing the capacity doesn’t necessarily equate to the same increase in run time as the pack will be heavier.

I’ve used optipower in helis, always been good packs, cells are obviously manufactured elsewhere but the packs are put together in the uk, uk based support as well.

Wanted HB819, MBX8 Eco or similar ideally in excellent condition

Yes they have tended to thin out over time, certainly as the Internet gets to review things first. By the time publications come out, products have already been on the market at least several months and many online user reviews already in existence.

I use to get Radio Race Car many years back, just wondering what most but these days?

I remember the SC back in the day, great to see the original and the reproduction

What ESC and motor combo for 1/8 buggy
in Buggies, Truggies & Stadiums
Posted · Edited by Surfer99
I’ve been looking at the hobbywing 1900kv with one of the variants of their XR8 ESC, seems a popular choice in the 1/8th buggies.
The G2 pro seems to be the latest one with some tweeks over the earlier version.
