  1. got to say that my sirius motors run cooler and better than my castle 4 pole ever did, for me its simple sirius offer more bang for my buck and so thats what i'll buy i don't see the point in paying for a name =]

Is the motor you have the 2 pole version? And what gearing you running?

  2. I am seriously fed up with my firestorm now.

    :crybaby:

Been having a play in back garden and i am sick n tired of the motors overheating. i have been reading about the sirius motors and wondering if anyone has used these with success on the firestorm?

  3. Its a hyper front & back end and chassis as the ansmann items are made of chocolate with virus plastic parts, did this as i hate pivot ball systems with a passion.

also if youre after a 1/8 esc check hobbykings 80/120/150 as ive used all these and each one is 2-6s capable and miles better than other esc's i used but make sure u get the program card

  4. I used the ansmann kit in hyper 7/virus mix, ive used castle 2200/2650 am now on leopard 2000 4274. although these motors do rub on the chassis due to being girthy the conversion kit does work very well. i have also changed the layout from ansmanns instructions, i will post pics when i get it out for its weekend run around:D

  5. Hi all !!

Im in the process of contructing a little shop that will offer the conversion kits as a whole,or you can purchase individual components!!! The preffered payment method will be paypal, but I will accept cheques or postal orders!

I have a few other little upgrades under development too and will keep ya posted!!!!

    Cheers

how are we doing with the shop????

  6. Hi i,m new to this forum so hope i,ve posted this in the right place . I bought a ansmann kryptonite from speedy models in preston 4 weeks ago

I got one from a shop in Blackburn three weeks ago, they are called base systems, but in kit form. and just to let you know that i think it is an awesome truggy!! its as strong as my xray and so nimble!! i havent had a problem with ansmann as i also have their royal flash but as i upgraded it to brushless the spur dont last long :( they do recommend that you keep std motors in these btw ;) but dont let this little niggle put you off their stuff especially the kryptonite!!! if your local to blackburn pop into the shop as the guys there are really helpful!!

  7. Well, I don't really agree whit that "chocolate original part" spur gear. I have ran the royal flash a lot - I even ruined 2 motors on it and the "chocolate original" spur gear is still OK. The metal pinion is the one I have to change! And that really bothers me because I got like 4 spare spurs because everybody said they are week.

In conclusion, I will make a custom motor mount that will let me to bring the motor closer to the spur so I will be able to use HPI pinions which are shorter than Ansmann one.

If you want to replace the spur, just try to use some from HPI but you'll have to do a lot of adjustments and, believe me, it will be almost impossible to center it. Just stick to Ansmann for now :)

Yes, you are right, a 0.6 pinion goes ONLY with a 0.6 spur gear. BUT, if you change the spur with another brand and that one will be another pitch, you'll have to put a pinion with the same pitch. If the new pitch will be a common one like 48 for example, you'll have a lot of options for adjusting the gear ratio, unlike using Ansmann - in which case you can do NOTHING about the gear ratio.

Like I said a few lines above, don't even try to adapt "alien" spurs!

Ok then you must be 1 of the very few that have had few problems.......i might have forgot to mention that i am running lipo and brushless on it;) i have used other pinions with no problem, but now the diff ring gear has melted!!!! :(

see.......chocolate and brushless and warm weather = melted parts :(

  8. so am i right in saying if i get a 0.6 pinion i need a 0.6 spur?? and as you are probably aware of the problems with the royal flash spur gear does anyone have any ideas what to replace it with (apart from chocolate original part??)

    thanks

  9. HI Naymo, which Ezrun did you stick in there?

I ordered the 9T for my boy , should be here next week , hoping he (and I ) are as impressed as you are

i got the 9t also for flash but an 18t for rc18t. one thing i would say is that the batts are pants but a little resoldering worked wonders and a lipo try out was amazing!!!

    i'm sure you'll be impressed!!! :) :)

  10. hi all,

ok so after all the messing around i had with the steering (see other thread) my ezrun brushless arrived today!! :P

i had used the car with a modelsport 20turn esc and it really didnt float my boat (hence the ezrun option) i also ordered some 3800 batts (which still aint here and only coming from manchester!!!)

so on arrival of the motor i stuck it in and some old 3000 nimh packs i had and hmmmm i was only slightly dissappointed as it kept pulsing or 'cogging' as there didnt seem to be much juice in these old packs.

when i got home (yes i was meant to be working :P ) i heard a strange voice in my head whispering 'stick the lipo in outta your rc18t' and me being curious did just that and OMG!!! outta the cars i've had and got this thing would actually fly if i attached some wings to it!! and would wipe the floor with my RB powered nitro off roaders!!! And the best thing is that its quiet so now i can play in the garden all day long (after i get me some more lipos that is!!)

So if you have a royal flash and want awesome speed get an EzRun combo (hobbytoys88) a lipo (or two!!) and have sore cheeks from all the smiling you'll do!!

Oh n by the way the gears are holding up fine, no erractic spinning of the spur gear or anything!! And i will stick a video of it on youtube at some point over the next few days!!

    naymo. (a happy little chappie)
