Decided whilst fitting switches I'd try dechroming the front light buckets a bit - and then wished I hadn't started as the chrome is quite thick. Still, a lot of scratching and a blob or two of black paint and below is the result, on one side so far.....
Switch wise I'm thinking one for the headlights and another for the light bar and pillar lights leaving the bumper and rear lights on permanently.
Did a quick first test run around the lounge (scaring the dogs in the process) and I agree with AJ, the steering isn't great but that will have to wait.

Excuse the blue floor as I took this at work where the lighting is much better!
Fitted a 4 inch light bar to the bumper and will probably fit some switches somewhere to allow some lights to be controlled.
Also in the pic is a much larger wheel I'm contemplating for more of a road look - tyres to fit are same diameter but about an inch wider. Wheel fits fine but the tyres will be close to the shocks

Looks good, and a great way of getting some cooling air in.
What have you used for your splitter? Need to make one myself but not sure what to use.

Spec at the top says oil filled dampers but yeh, bushings in 2022?
Pretty sure I read somewhere Kyosho are about to drop a 240z on the fazer chassis if they haven't already...

That being said i would not touch this rig with some one elses 10 foot pole, full of bushings, plastic shocks, simply gross cost cutting. Get the older v2 builders kits that have propper hardware.
Seems to come with steel wheels, wonder if along with the plastic shocks it's a move to lower the C of G to improve performance

Would really like one as nearly bought an original. Circumstances changing meant I missed out but said one day..
Trouble is just started a large scale build I'm currently hiding the bills of from the other half so don't think I'd get away with another...

I thought these looked good when they originally came out, really liked the idea of a larger scale on road car. Then I saw how low they were and just thought nah! Fast forward a few years to this and I'm glad I've recently bought a Limitless to turn into a large scale drifter - once I've sorted a decent combo and good looking shell...

Are you flipping one diff or both?
Try suspending the car off the floor and applying a little throttle - whichever pair front or rear turns the wrong way is the diff you need to flip.

Just a thought but you could also try doing a coat of orange or brown first then it wold look like rust developing on the panels whenever it got scratched.

I did something similar years ago with a HPI Savage.
Yes it cost a lot more but l ended up with exactly the spec l wanted, knowing it was assembled properly. Took a while too sourcing all the parts but it was a lot of fun - and isn't that what hobbies are about?

I've never had a problem with tamiya paint flaking. Just be sure to give it a quick wash with soapy water first and keep the paint coats thin and build up gradually

Just a thought but how about using a y lead to lock at least one diff when you engage low gear and unlock when high is selected for trail running?
