  1. Ideal! I thought this might be the case! I have a flysky 2.4ghz, wondering if that will work. For the record I have another car (flying point) with the same problem, stripped pinion on the auto starter. Annoying isn't it lol.
  2. Just picked this up, gutted as it needs a special 4 channel controller it didn't come with. 2 extra channels for auto start and reverse via electric motor. Has anyone adapted one or know if it's possible to retrofit modern electrics?
  3. Long shot I know, just bought one and no TX with it so can't use the auto start and reverse functions.
  4. Not sure sorry, the original is worn away. It's for an automatic starting system on an old nitro. Just thought an electric car may have something similar. May have to buy a few and try and find a match. It is a push on fit, I think that was the problem it was slipping.
  5. I am desperate to find a pinion with the above spec. I don't suppose anyone has any ideas of a car that would use one like this. Or anywhere that would stock it? Cheers
  6. Can't believe I'm saying this but it runs, and runs well! I poured engine oil and wd40 mixed together down the glow plug hole and into the carb, turned the engine and left it to soak for a day. I worked out what the motor contraption I got with it is. It goes on a 12v battery and has a rubber ring to spin the motor from underneath. So new glow plug, decent fuel and 2 minutes with the motor later and it's running. Now starts really quickly! Would it be sacrilege to put one my flysky 2.4ghz receiver and some modern servos in in it and take it for a spin?
  7. I think the best I can hope for is some if my money back! Live and learn lol
  8. I wouldn't count on it
  9. Bought an old car for a project without seeing it. Was advertised as a pb alpha (with different bodyshells escort mk1 and capri) . I really wanted to get an old car running. After a long drive I turned up and picked this up. Turns out it wasn't an alpha but a Mustang but I was unfortunately home before I realised that. After putting some nitro into the carb and glow plug hole the picco 21 engine is spinning freely and has compression but I have no way of starting it without a starter box. I spent most of the night stripping and cleaning it. Looks better for it. Yet again I have overpaid for something beyond my skill level. I can't help myself when it comes to vintage anything. I just prefer the old to the new.
  10. That's the ones, thank you!
  11. Hi all can anyone tell me what the little brass circles with grub screws in are called. I need to buy some but have no idea what they would be. Thanks
  12. If anyone has anything, have a spare engine with cracked piston I fancy working on. New to rc engines and may fail so don't want to buy new. I'm just learning so don't matter if it don't work. Thanks
  13. All sorted, thanks again @Burridge
  14. Thanks, will give it a go.
  15. I'm guessing I need to move the engine or gearbox mounts till they do?
  16. No its a cup that fits over the output shaft with 2 grub screws and a centre screw this connects via joint to a female half shaft. The wheel side is a male which goes into the female. A guess would be it allows for increased suspension travel.
  17. The hole is 5mm and the output shaft has two opposing flat faces. I don't think the length is super critical as one hoes into the other. Even if I could split the metal heads would be a start I guess.
  18. The grub screw is gone on mine on the equivalent of the cv joint gearbox side, the plastic it was in has cracked and it can no longer be tightened enough.
  19. If they measure the same how much mate? I don't know enough to guess any near matches so I'll take a "look the same"
  20. I was hoping they were similar to another model. The hole for the shaft from the gearbox is 5mm and the sleeve for the male part coming from the wheel is 4cm.
  21. I need something,, I guess plastic would be fine but the car isn't made any more. It's a flying point.
  22. Should all three of these gears mesh together when the car isn't running. When I turn the wheels they turn but they are not touching the gears on the engine shaft. Same problem as the other car no drive to rear wheels. Not sure I want it though, the engine noise has my hands shaking lol. You barely have to touch the throttle and it screams.
  23. After struggling to get any drive with a car I tightened the grub screw against the inner flat edge on the shaft from the gearbox. The car then worked for a 10 minute blast around the garden but basically the grub screw isn't tight in the hole now. The plastic is pretty chewed up and it's got a split in it. I think it really needs metal ones. Thanks
