i flew for about 5 seconds I took off, my son ran in the way as i started to take off, avoided him but crashed. Luckily it was only my micro p51, damaged the tail. Dont take kids with you flying!!!!!!!!!!!!

it will start just takes ages and then runs for a few seconds smokey as hell and then cuts out. I rang the previous owner yesterday who was very helpful and the kit has been looked after and had some money spent on it. He basically said the last time he used it he used after run oil obviously after use so he recommended taking the glow plug out, putting some nitro in and cranking it to perform a sort of flush. I can honestly say the car has been well looked after and i am assuming the over smokey-ness is down to it trying to burn off the after run oil. I am going to try another start tomorrow will keep you posted If not i should have gone electric

Hi All I need to cut two holes in my model's body to help with getting cool air in and the hot air out, i want to cut a circle in the windscreen and a circle in the rear window to help with the airflow. I am wondering what you use to accomplish this to get a nice circular cut? Thanks Graeme

Hi all Just been reding my hpi manual and noticed there are different temp plugs, ie plugs for the summer months and plugs for the colder months. I am running R5 (summer/warmer) plugs at the minute and am having starting problems. Do people swap to the R3 (winter/coler) plugs and noticed a difference? I am going to order a few i think to see if it makes starting easier, just wanted to get a few opinions first Thanks Graeme

Hi all Getting really annoyed!!!! Bought a savage 4.1 off a thoroughly nice guy but i cant get it to run. It is in mint condition really well looked after. The last time he ran it he said he had put after run oil in the and that i would need to get it out of there to get it to start. After 4 attempts and flattening the battery each time on my roto started i have got it to run 3 time for approx 4 seconds, it will rev and then die. It is so hard to get anything out of it but when it does run ( for a few seconds it is sweet) I am running on R5 warm weather glow plugs, does it make that much of a difference running it on the cold weather ones? Really getting fed up with it now as i know it is all there and is just waiting to come alive. Anyone got any experience with these Thanks Graeme

its more like a shim copper one side silver the other and a white material in between, is it needed?

great write up mate thank you for the info, i have a new problem now. I think the engine has been struggling because the headgasket has failed!! Can anyone recommend where to get one please?

yes mate i managed to download the manual for the car, the only thing is it doesnt refer to the settle from factory, all it says is about changing the factory settings for tuning

ok i got it running, if i used 50% throttle i can get it too start then it eventually dies, will rev cleanly eventually on full throttle but rough in between and awful pick up from low revs

Hi All Sorry to be a pain here but after looking through the carb needle settings thread i cant find the engine i have on there. After also searching through google i am find bits and pieces but no solid info on the carb base settings. Basically i bought it as a non runner as he has messed with the carb too much and he couldnt get it started again. I have had it running but not well so i want to go back to base settings and tune from there. I have tried flush/flush high/low but i am not getting anything out of it. Rather than keep blindly trying to guess the settings i was hoping someone on here would have had experience with one these engines enough to get me running so i can tune from there? I very kind fellow on here Trans4Mation identified the engine for me but on closer inspection i realised the engine had the info stamped on it, i guess i will look harder next time before i waste peoples time haha. Also a member called tamiyacowboy also helped me out with a throttle linkage problem which is now sorted out, i just need these settings to get me up and running. thank you for your help i will get the settings and hopefully get it running It wasnt a case of not trusting you mate it was more a case of my incompetence/ignorance on nitro

got it to run but the carb settings and linkage are all over the place

hi mate thanks for your reply, if that screw is the idle screw it doesnt seem to have any effect on my idle, does it need to be running so i can see the difference in adjustment? i dont want the idle too high and wearing out my clutch thanks for your reply

Hi all can someone have a look at the following please? First off is this the idle control screw? When i loosen it the inside can move in and out as oppose to the rotational movement what happens when the throttle is used off the transmitter. Also if someone can look at the following and see if it looks ok? Hi All Just wondering if someone can help me indentify the engine in the pics? I could do with knowing what type it is so i can try and find some general running settings just to get it running so i can fine tune it. The person who i bought it off sold it as spares because he messed about with carb settings, i just need to get it to run and then i can tune from there. I know its filthy i havent had chance to give it a good ging over yet, its using an impreza shell. thanks for your help and looking Graeme

Hi All I am new to this site i have two nitro cars, one is a tamiya which is running great and my other trouble car isnt running very well. I think it is down to the fule line its the harder fish tank stuff which isnt the best as i have an air leak at the carb and the fuel keeps leaking back down the line towards the tank. I want to use silicon fuel pipe so i get a better seal and run a better route from the tank to the carb. Does anyone know of any rc suppliers open tomorrow where i can get some in/near Liverpool L15? Thanks for your help Graeme
