  1. Thanks evssv, I hadnt heard of the Nada make, im guessing they basicly ripped off the savage as per the old maxim if you cant beat them join them, the value of the engine, wheels and shocks easily cover what i paid for it, So I am still smiling.

  2. Hi, I recently bought this on ebay, at first glance and only one picture taken from above i thought it was a savage that someone had altered as only diffrence i could see was the battery box compartment didnt quite seem right. However since picking it up, it is slightly smaller all round and the TVP's are diffrent to the 21, 25, X etc, but thought they could be aftermarket ones. Does anyone know what model it is ? it is the spit of a Savage and is fitted with a .21 engine, all help is appreciated.

  3. Used to race one. Great little car.

First thing I'd do is ditch those horrid wheels/tyres and ugly shell!

As far as power goes, it is a pretty efficient drivetrain, but the rear belt and spur are a little fragile, so my best advice would be to fit a brushed setup (19t or above) running 2s lipo batteries. Gearing really depends on where you're going to run it and the balance of acceleration vs top speed you're looking for. Start with a pinion around low to mid 20s (in terms of number of teeth) for use on the street, would be my guess.

You can also find a bit more info on it here:

    Thanks for the reply :)

It is my intention to run it on the streets well the car park down one of my local parks, and yes tyres will be changed and ill proberly spray the shell although I have a spare couple of shells ready to paint one is a honda accord and other is a nice lexus shell i bought for my Kyosho but never got round to painting.

I run a 19t Orion in my Kyosho so a similar system would be good from what you are saying and many thanks on the pinion I realy have no idea on pinions to spurs atm even after reading the sticky thread im more a mechanic type than an electrical type of person lol.

  4. Thanks for the replys guys, I will keep an eye open for those .... have already been amazed at its speed on the couple of batterys i put through it one being a 2s 5000, the front end wouldnt stay down at full throttle but gave many smiles, even with the problem its taken over as my favorite rc already

  5. Traxxas have replaced this motor with a newer version, for which new rotors can be bought, iirc, they did do replacements for this older style..don't hold me to that though ;)

I'd bin it and buy something better :) Quicrun do some very nice four pole cans for reasonable money, in fact, probably cheaper than a new rotor if one exists.

Since posting i went looking to see how much a new rotor is and for this can size its

  6. Bought a Traxxas Rustler VXL from a forum member a little while ago and was extremly pleased with it too. It ran the first 2 batterys i put through it without a problem, on the 3rd it ran for 5 mins then shuddered and stopped  :(  the motor and wires was extremly hot so i let it cool down and tried to run it again it wouldnt move, wires to the motor was red hot so put it to one side and found a second hand one on flea bay which i am now waiting to come.

So last night i decided i would take it apart and see if it can be salvaged and then used at a later date in another of my RC,s down the line, problem is i dont know if it will be possible as it looks like the windings are burnt, i know i can buy another magnet which is shattered. If someone who is tech minded can let me know if it is recoverable please and how, it would be a help thanks.

  7. Hi.

Picked up a box of spares i won on ebay yesterday. Amongst them is a Yokomo mr4 tc custom roller. I have read around the net a little and realised it is a vintage RC model but is in a very good condition and came complete with the original box.

Being a bit of a novice still i dont know what engine or pinion gear i should put into it and can find little information regarding this on the net. Should I look for a brushed motor/esc to keep it with being original or go for a modern brushless system? either way I still would like advice on what engine and pinion would be best suited to it. There is a spur gear still in place although I dont know what it is. I have added some pics too.

  8. Hi everyone, Im Phil   Been reading this forum for last few weeks thought it was time to join up. Im relatively new to RC cars having picked up a Kyosho ep  Fazer porcshe at an auction july last year I decided it was fun, and realised very quickly it wasn't the car but the tinkering that hooked me.

I use to be a biker and a courier and part of biking is taking apart your machine. So since July I soon got bored of running the kyosho around the living room. And at xmas went down the local HS and bought the vantage, wife didn't mind at all and one week later saw an add for a savage, which I realy wanted when I bought the vantage but couldn't afford, the savage was cheap and a few smiles followed by a few hugs later and I had persuaded her that it was a good deal.

I learnt how to strip it fully down out of necessity, it was covered in mud, grass etc engine needed mounting and so on. But this way is a great way for newbie to learn, so if anyone out there is selling a model to a newbie give it them dirty they will learn more in a few days about it than they will in months :D
