  1. I got an old nicd 1900mAh battery with a second hand car, it would be nice to be able to have it as a backup battery but my Absima CB-1 charger only has settings for Lipo, Life & Nimh types - are there any settings on it I could use to charge the old Nicd? I don't want to start a fire, and because of problems with my 1:1 scale car I can't afford to buy more batteries for a couple of months
  2. Greenham common is near Newbury, it's been the test site for my little Tamiya buggy At the end near the drainage pools, near Thornford Park, there's loads of bumps and troughs - kinda like a moonscape. A mix of uber short grass (thanks to the horses & cows) and gravel, with a few little short hawthorn bushes that make things interesting. Plenty of flat bits to go fast on, other bits that are steep enough to be challenging ... I'm looking forward to summer when the pools are emptier so there will be some more extreme surfaces to drive on! It's only really suitable for electric vehicles, because of the aforementioned cows & horses (plus many dogs, kids on bikes etc), but thats about it. Oh, and the bit around the bunkers where they filmed bits of Star Wars VII are pretty cool to look at, too
  3. Thanks for the welcomes :-) Right now it's a bog standard Neo Fighter (even down to stickers and colour) so there's not much point in photos ... once it's got some gubbins on it I'll post some up though
  4. Hi there, I used to have some crappy nitro RC cars, left them in my parents loft and after I'd only been gone for 19 years my Dad sold them. The cheek! Anyway, I decided to invest in a couple of Tamiya electric cars after xmas and they've been great, so I thought I'd sign up here. It's nice to be sociable and that. My main project is a DT-03 Neo Fighter, that I've just ordered a bunch of parts for; it's been good fun up at Greenham Common but I'm working on curing the redonculous understeer and making it look a bit more interesting. I have a friend thats building a Lunchbox to come and play too, I'm really looking forward to seeing how that goes once it's all hopped up. I'm very much liking the switch to electric, everything in a 20 meter radius doesn't smell of fuel, there's no pratting around with tuning or starting problems, and it's quiet enough that it doesn't spook the cows and horses at the common :-) Anyway, hello!
