  1. the third channel does indeed work. it will need a rc switch to operates any lights but it is a nice bonus. another bonus was it came with a 6kg steering servo. I believe the normal is a 3kg servo
  2. Another curiosity is mine came with what looks like a 3 channel transmitter and Rx. however the 3rd channel does not seem to work is this just a red herring
  3. the first day my son was hitting the curbs and it seemed to hold up ok. it started to break later on but maybe the damage was already done. the battery can move about it the battery tray. but I have since added padding so it will not move I am hoping the will lessen the stress. This is the first car I have had. I have had many planes and heli's in the past and my experience with those have told me cheap models can be good if you know what you are doing and set them up properly. However when it comes to rc cars I don't really know what I am doing. But it has been fun and I really want to upgrade to a slash but thought I would learn my lesson on the spatha first before I start breaking a very expensive model.
  4. I also broke a wheel so ordered these from hobby king http://www.hobbyking.co.uk/hobbyking/store/__25072__1_10_Crawler_90mm_Wheel_Tyre_12mm_Hex_2pc_.html they are great and much better than the supplied tyres especially on grass. Hobby king also do a larger 96mm version of the same tyre and wheel. I wish I had got the larger version now as I think they would suit the model better but the 90mm one are doing a good job for now.
  5. I did find the review above who also had shock tower and dogbone problems. There are CVD's available so I have some on order. This should fix the dogbone problem I bought a new chassis but this time added a washer on the battery mount screw to try and spread the load, As in the video I put 100wt oil in the shocks but I did not like the results, the shocks had almost no movement and when I compressed one it blew the top off stripping the plastic thread. I bought ally shocks for the rear and I am awaiting some 60wt oil. I also bought the katana style body as this is more protected as it sits behind the bumper and within the wheels. I am hoping this will last a little longer.
  6. I thought I would start a thread on this model as there is not a lot of info out there. Probably because you can not change it much from the stock setup so there is not a lot of discussion. However I would like to hear other owners thoughts on how to get the best from this very basic model. I bought one for my 5 year old son so the speed was more than enough for him. But we soon ran into problems with plastic parts breaking. the battery tray is screwed through the chassis but this soon pulled trough the chassis making a large hole. I had the spatha so it came with a SC style body that soon broke up. next to break was the front shock tower and we lost a front dogbone
  7. I emailed modelsport uk and they replied the 68086 uses the LCG chassis I would buy a used one but they do not seem to come up for sale too often and the prices asked for the ones I have seen were not much below the new price where do rcmaxxed list their rollers? ebay?
  8. well it seems all UK stock new models all come with the LCG chassis anyway.
  9. capri-boy all the spares for the E10 are available from rc-hobby-spares.com and took about 4 days to arrive we broke the servo saver arm front shock tower and the battery holder screw ripped through the chassis so a new chassis was needed. we have the brushed version so it is not fast and we were not jumping but we did roll it and it did hit the curb. there ally upgrades for the suspension arms but the plastic ones seem solid
  10. thanks stretch but my main question is should I get a LCG chassis or the original chassis for bashing. I probably wont notice much difference at my level but it would be good to know if I am starting out with the right kit
  11. It is the E10sc model. I have just received the spares to repair it. I still plan on fixing it and giving it another go before I give up on it totally. We did give it a hard time and it still maybe useful as a trainer for my son. But if I need new parts after every run it will not be worth it in the long run so If I do decide to sell it I will give you first shout.
  12. I bought my son a Himoto Spatha for Christmas and although we had a lot of fun with it, it did not take use long to break a lot of the plastic parts. Metal upgrades are just not available and I can see we need something better. I want a slash as there is a wealth of information and so many upgrades and custom parts you can tune the model to suite your needs. But where do I start. It is only for bashing so a 4x4 is what I want. there are three to choose 4x4, 4x4 platinum, and 4x4 ultimate. My first question is does the basic 4x4 now come with the LCG chassis or the original chassis. I feel the original chassis may be better for me with it greater ground clearance as I plan on using on rough gravel, grass fields and the local beach (am I wright about that). The beach is compact wet sand not loose. Compared with the himoto I feel I cant go far wrong with the slash the next question is the himoto filled up with a lot of dirt and gravel the same will happen to the slash. the slash parts seem to be more exposed but there are a lot of guards and cover upgrades available. there are also chassis supports and roll bars. what is the best way to toughen up the slash. My experience with the himoto has been one days fun followed by a week waiting for parts. If I can I want more days driving before something breaks. Any advice is much appreciated
  13. what is the protective bar on DUBZN1's model. I want one
  14. Many thanks. I guess I have two options. buy a good one and hope it lasts or buy a cheap one and change it when smashed
  15. I am looking for a body shell for a slash 4x4. I am very new to rc cars so ant help will be gratefully received. It is for general bashing and I want it to last as long as possible. Looking around the forums the suggestion seems to be a jconcepts body will last the longest. Are these available in the UK? and if not what is the best body stocked by a UK supplier. Also how to I toughen it up. fibre glass tape? and what is shoe goo?
