It was just a bottom end (case, crank and damaged piston only) that I was given recently when I bought a used RC. I've now ordered a new 4 bolt crank case, bearings, oil seals & 4 bolt 29cc head. I've already got a new 29cc piston in a packet so it's only the crank that is being re-used on this build. It's going to be used a back up engine but pointless if the bottom end was to let it down the moment I needed it. On a related note; do people often replace wrist bearings? When I last built an engine I bought a "bigbore kit" which included a crank and wrist bearing etc. This time i'm reusing and completely forgot to order another wrist bearing. There are of course 2, one piston end of the rod and the other the crank end.

my thoughts exactly bud. The bearings do hold in once all the way but come out with just a few taps and push back in nearly all the way. I think it would just end up with movement/loss of compression so in the bin it will go.

HI guys, Just pulled apart a 26cc engine I was given as I intended to reuse the bottom end casing for a new build. I planned to replace bearings, seals etc. but I noticed that the bearings literally just push in and out of the crank case with minimal force. I've not come across this before and presuming that the bearings have spun in the case and the case is not usable? any thoughts?

I have both a fairly stock KM and a fully modified hpi mate. I love my KM. As a basher, you can't beat them for price. I take your point regarding bearings and oil seals but is there really anything wrong with the pistons, heads or crank cases or is this just typical brand prejudice? Hi Guys, I recently spent a fair amount with RC Modelz and built myself a 29cc engine to replace my knackered 23cc engine in my KM baja. Bar an issue with me first putting a copper head gasket in it, resulting in no compression, it is now running very well indeed now a tank and half in. It seems just as gutsy as my CY 29cc engine in my HPI baja. I thought I was buying genuine CY at the time of purchasing all the parts but it seems all the parts stock is KM. What I wanted to know is how many of you have used the head/engine kits, bearings, oil seals and other parts and how have they worked for you? I'll be building myself a standby engine soon which will be a 4 bolt 30.5cc with stuffed crank etc. At this stage I'm not sure whether to go with KM parts from RC Modelz or CY/Zenoah parts from elsewhere. What are your thoughts/experiences?
